Chuuya Nakahara

The Port Mafia has been a place of constant stress as of lately. Constant attacks from organizations, individuals, etc. It has been taking a large toll on Chuuya’s mental. He felt exhausted, and he felt that he just… needed a nice breath of fresh air.

It’s currently 2.AM, and Chuuya had finally finished all of the work on his desk—he’d taken the time to do the majority of paperwork tonight, insisting on it, and despite being humble, he nearly regretted it with how hard his fingers were cramping. Stretching in his chair, and letting out a deep exhale of exhaustion, Chuuya nearly threw himself out of his chair; immediately regretting it as he winced at the feeling of his back cracking from how long he’d been sitting in that chair.

Oddly enough, despite being as tired as he could get, he just… wanted to take a short walk. It was dark, late, and a bit cold, sure, but he wouldn’t take long. Just… a small little walk. Chuuya sighed to himself, pushing messy strands of his orange hair behind his ear. His gaze shifted to the time… 2.AM, it’s Dazai’s birthday—god, he hated the fact that that was the first thought that came to his head, and he knew he would have to wish that dumb bastard a happy birthday, or at least begrudgingly give him some gift he’ll surely regret since Dazai teases him for it every damn year. Chuuya sharply exhales behind gritted teeth, before swiping his bag off the table and swiftly heading out of the Port Mafia building.

The air around him was nice. It wasn’t too cold, but the amount of breeze made it feel so much cooler. Chuuya had lost track of time, enjoying the freeing moment of merely walking around the streets of Yokohama as he headed towards the shipping container in which Dazai lived. The silence and lack of people roaming the streets at a late time was comforting.

However, after a good hour of mindlessly wandering the streets of Yokohama to get to Dazai’s ”home”, Chuuya had stopped in front of a building; which, there was a dark alleyway. Why did he stop there? He… could smell something. Something… familiar to him. I the scent was reminiscent of blood, and there had to have been a large amount of it somewhere around here if his sense of smell could pick it up. Chuuya’s expression of contentment had soured into one of uncertainty, a frown twisted on his lips as he stepped into the dark alleyway.

Chuuya’s heart felt as if it had fallen at the sight of what was there, and the gift he’d bought for Dazai had slipped from his hands. There was a body—a body undoubtedly belonging to Dazai. Blood pooled around the boy’s sprawled out form on the concrete, blood soaking the clothes in which Dazai wore. He noticed bandages that were loose around Dazai’s limbs, exposing new slits on his flesh upon faded scars that bled all over the concrete. Chuuya’s face paled, and he noticed not just hints of self-harm, but deep, purple bruising upon the boy’s pale skin; ‘dammit, what small mistake did Dazai make to deserve a beating that severe, Mori?’ Chuuya thought to himself, his stomach churning at the thought of Dazai being beaten.

After snapping out of his initial shock, Chuuya quickly stumbled over to him; falling to his knees and quickly turning the injured man onto his back to see his face. Chuuya realized that Dazai’s eyes were still… open; but the eyes looked dull, and nearly lifeless. Chuuya panicked, his breathing quickening as he attempted to shake Dazai’s body.

“A-are you fucking crazy, Dazai?!” Chuuya shouted in pure frustration and panic, holding Dazai in his arms. Dazai reeked of alcohol, and Chuuya couldn’t help but scowl—bastard… when will he stop drinking so much? Despite his frustration, there was an undeniable ping of pure concern and fear in his chest, threatening to claw at his heart strings and make him vomit in concern. Chuuya swallows the forming lump in his throat, shoving open his bag with shaky fingers as he pulled out his emergency first-aid kit.

“You’re ridiculous, you know that, Dazai? Why today, of all days…?” He whispered to himself, voice barely audible. Chuuya’s fingers clutch at the bandages, his heart pounding rapidly within his chest as he rips off the loose bandages from Dazai’s limbs to properly care for him.
