Chuuya is a young man of short stature, but despite his visual “thinness,” his physique is quite muscular. He has large, brown (blue-gray in the anime adaptation) eyes, bright red shoulder-length hair parted on the right side, and a wide smile. The oblique bangs visually cover mostly the right side of the face. He ties his hair back into a ponytail and combs it to the left side.

Nakahara's most striking accessory remains his black hat with a red ribbon wrapped around it and a thin, silver chain that hangs over the brim. He is wearing a red dress shirt with a high, stand-up collar. He never buttons his shirt collar all the way. On top is a black vest with a V-neck with black buttons and a belt on the chest. He also wears a black bolo tie with a diamond-shaped buckle. On top of the vest is a black jacket with long sleeves and cuffs of the same color with an accessory in the form of a light scarf in the pocket on the chest. Dressed in black loose-fitting trousers. On top is a belt of identical color with a gold plaque. On his feet he wears black low-heeled shoes with pointed toes. Around her neck she wears a classic black choker necklace with a square silver buckle. He can almost always be seen wearing black gloves. Doesn't wear a coat.

At first glance, Chuuya seems to be a temperamental, rather arrogant, and sometimes rude person. He enjoys fighting and is happy to have the opportunity to demonstrate his fighting abilities, and is also very proud of his reputation as the Port Mafia's strongest martial artist. The mocking remarks are coupled with his pride, as he is not afraid to ridicule his opponents mid-fight. As befits a member of the Executive Committee, he does not hesitate to eliminate the enemies of the Port Mafia by any means necessary, including murder. However, Chewie's tactics are not nearly as deadly and dangerous.

Vague Sadness (汚れっちまった悲しみに, Yogorecchimatta Kanashimi ni?) is Chuuya Nakahara's ability, which is based on manipulating gravity and creating black holes. Has two forms of activation:

In the manga, it manifests itself through the blood coming from Chuuya's body, in the anime, strange marks appear on his body, and the blood flows in the same way. The danger with this ability is that, once activated, he is unable to control it independently. Therefore, if Dazai does not stop him in time, Chuuya will waste energy and strength until he dies.

Corruption stems from Chuya's origins as the essence of Arahabaka, a god of great destructive power.

He protects Dazai and is ready to force a person to respect him by any means. He himself hates Dazai and does not always want to follow his orders. I'm ready to argue with him. Member of the executive committee.

Dazai is a young man with mildly wavy, short, dark brown hair and narrow dark brown eyes. His bangs frame his face, while some are gathered at the center of his forehead. He is quite tall and slim in terms of physique.

For his attire, Dazai wears a long sand-colored trench coat, the belt of which he leaves untied. Under it is a black vest over a striped dress shirt that is light blue in hue. He wears a bolo tie, which is held by a brown ribbon and a turquoise pendant. He also dons beige pants, dark brown shoes, and has bandages wrapped around his entire body; only his face, hands, and feet are left uncovered.

Upon joining the Agency, Dazai is usually called lazy, with Doppo Kunikida always scolding him for being unproductive and slacking off. Despite that, he has shown a sharp wit, deducing all the unlikely situations that led Atsushi Nakajima to believe he was being stalked by a tiger when he was the tiger in question.[17] He has complete confidence no matter what type of situation he is dealing with, be it combat or simply bad situations he formulated in the first place.[18][3]

He takes most of his actions as a joke, and, although they are very well-thought plans, he does not credit himself for most of what he has done. Dazai likes to tease anyone and everyone, especially if it means that he can get a laugh out of it.

Yumeno is presented as a child of about thirteen years old with a sweet and childish face that most often expresses calmness. From time to time, a rather scary smile is visible on his face. Kyusaku's hair is two-tone: the left side is ash blonde and the right side is black. The pupils of his eyes are of different shapes: the right one is in the shape of a yellow five-pointed star, and the left one is in the form of a yellow ring. The boy wears a small hat with a beige bow, tilted to the left. Usually dressed in a white high-collar button-down shirt, beige shorts with thin, red stripes on thin suspenders, white knee socks, and brown shoes. He wears a black jacket over it and a khaki scarf.

He always carries with him a red sling bag that looks like a cat or dog, and a creepy doll.

Kyusaku has a twisted, sadistic personality and enjoys carnage through his ability, Dogra Magra. He cannot distinguish between what is “good” and “evil” and therefore kills everyone who offends him in one way or another. Kyusaku loves to manipulate his enemies and comrades, causing them pain with his terrifying ability. But despite this, he is able to play the role of a harmless and innocent child. Capable of quickly “plunging” deep into the darkest corners of his nature. It was Yumeno's sadistic personality that led to his imprisonment at the hands of Dazai.

After the Guild kidnapped Kyusaku, he was forced to endure extreme physical and emotional trauma while being trapped by Steinbeck's ability. "Dogra Magra", spreading throughout Yokohama, made people feel all the pain that the trees "experienced".

Kyusaku joined the Mafia shortly after Osamu, who was tasked with finding out the child's abilities. Ogai Mori kept them under his surveillance.[3] Due to an unknown incident that resulted in a huge number of casualties from the Mafia, Dazai imprisoned the boy.

Dogra Magra (ドグラ・マグラ, Dogura Magura?) is Kyūsaku Yumeno's mind control ability. By cursing its targets or "receivers", the ability destroys their consciousness with hallucinations and causes them to attack anyone in their field of vision, regardless of whether they are allies or enemies.[6]

"Curse" is activated by destroying the doll that is its source. The only way to stop the curse is to use Dazai's ability - Defective Human.

Mori is a man in his 40s with a fairly tall and slender build. As a Mafia Boss, his violet eyes are almost always completely dark and lack a "sparkle", and his gaze always appears tired. Has a strange pattern on the pupils. He has straight, black hair that reaches below his chin, combed back and tied into a ponytail. He usually wears a formal suit, consisting of a black pinstriped jacket and black trousers, which he tucks into military-style black boots. Mori also wears a tie with purple and white, thin stripes. Over his suit, he wears a black cloak with a wide, standing collar, on the left side of which there are two small fasteners in the form of two straps and a long, dark a burgundy scarf almost knee-length, which is left untied on the shoulders. Also wears white gloves.

Mori Ogai initially debuts as an ordinary, somewhat awkward and worried middle-aged man who is most often worried about Alice's appearance and health. However, he later shows his true character by remaining completely calm and in control when the others, locked in Anna's room, simply ran away. Mori remained with Atsushi and Tanizaki even when the latter was captured. The head of the Mafia demonstrates his genius in drawing up strategies that come true exactly. In addition, he is presented as a cruel and ruthless person who is capable of instilling terror in his enemies. Despite this, Ogai works harmoniously together with Atsushi, even giving him an idea on how to cope with Lucy’s ability.

Vita Sexualis (ヰタ・セクスアリス, Wita Sekusuarisu?) is an ability that allows Mori to summon and "customize" Alice's personality in any way he wishes. He can make her levitate, chase an enemy at high speed and force her to save them no matter what. He can summon Alice at will and have her attack his enemies with large medical equipment shaped like a giant syringe.

Akutagawa has a slim build and very pale skin. He often covers his face with his hand due to his frequent coughing. He has short, choppy black hair with side bangs that reach his chin and turn white at the tips. His eyes are sharp, somewhat baggy, and a dark empty grey.

He wears a long, black coat reaching past his knees over black-fitting pants and black dress shoes. Underneath his coat, he dons a white dress shirt, decorated with a layered ruffled fabric. He also wears a white jabot.

When Akutagawa used to live in the slums, he wore dirty and ragged clothes.

When on his day off, he wears a simple black coat and frameless tinted glasses.

When covered in Rashōmon, the coat fully covers Akutagawa's body, including his mouth.

Akutagawa has a black and white "survival of the fittest" view of the world, claiming that weak people should die and give way to the stronger ones. He is not afraid of pain and defeat, if only to hear a word from a "certain person". His ruthless, vicious nature makes him one of the Port Mafia's most dangerous members, feared by both ally and foe. Much of the obedience he receives from subordinates of Black Lizard largely stems from fear of his short temper and general intolerance of incompetence.

Self-titled Port Mafia's "dog", Akutagawa depicts an acute willingness to commit violent crimes to further not only the mafia's goals but his own agenda. Merciless and blunt, Akutagawa doesn't discriminate when it comes to his targets, having no qualms killing anyone from innocent civilians, children, and enemies alike. Hostile as he is towards the weak, he dislikes meaningless torture and prefers killing in one go whenever possible.

Akutagawa showing animosity Akutagawa showing animosity. As violent as he is, Akutagawa maintains a generally composed and detached approach. Towards subordinates and superiors alike, he acts aloof, distancing himself from social interactions however possible. Nonetheless, his composure is fragile. In instances such as Higuchi's screw-up during the manhunt for Atsushi, Akutagawa is quick to lash out, ridiculing him for risking the bounty by acting recklessly. This quick temper often gets in his way, fueling his actions to the core of his very being.

The center of this anger stems from his past as an orphan in the harsh slums of Yokohama. Since childhood, Akutagawa's grim outlook never changed. The only thing that changed was meeting Dazai when he was 14, already willing to kill a group of illegal traders responsible for murdering his companions. This meeting with Dazai ends in a pivotal change in Akutagawa - respect for someone. Even after undergoing Dazai's extreme and horrific training, Akutagawa never wavers from his own philosophy, starkly against adopting Dazai's value of information over simply getting rid of the mafia's enemies.

Akutagawa berates Atsushi Akutagawa berates Atsushi. Having only heard Dazai's berating, learning of Dazai's high opinion of Sakunosuke Oda damages Akutagawa on a deep level, feeling insulted he is thought of as lower than someone who refuses to kill in the mafia. Dazai's defection deepens the damage, leaving a permanent, lingering sense of inferiority in Akutagawa's mind no matter what he accomplished in the mafia. Although still striving for Dazai's approval, Akutagawa nonetheless views Dazai's current disposition as a disgrace to the bloodstained reputation he carved into Port Mafia's history.

Akutagawa's desire for Dazai's approval inevitably leads to an intense resentment towards Dazai's new "student", Atsushi. First meeting Atsushi when he's weak, easily scared, and freezes in the face of violence, Akutagawa dismisses Atsushi as nothing more than another weak person destined to die for the sake of those stronger than him. Although Atsushi's tiger transformation momentarily gives him a rush, Akutagawa nonetheless sees nothing special in Atsushi. His opinion of Atsushi worsens when Dazai boasts about him, simultaneously insulting Akutagawa's worth as Dazai's former pupil. For much of the time, Akutagawa cannot understand the value others put in Atsushi, and vice versa. Atsushi is a walking paradox to Akutagawa - weak, but acting stronger than he actually is for a place in the world and permission to live, despite being so valued by others. This conflicts deeply with Akutagawa's self-perception. Others see him as powerful, but Akutagawa doesn't acknowledge his strength as a result of his upbringing and own philosophy. This leads to repeating the hypocrisy of condemning Atsushi for attempting to get everyone's approval when Akutagawa himself acts almost entirely for Dazai's approval.

Gin meets up with Akutagawa Akutagawa's amicable relationship with his younger sister, Gin. This rivalry eats at the two for much of the time, however, Akutagawa eventually comes to something of an understanding of Atsushi. His resentment still fresh, and a never-ending willingness to kill Atsushi for his own sake, at the least mingles with some form of respect towards Atsushi. This shows most notably when Atsushi struggles to come to terms with the death of the orphanage director. Although it is the perfect time to off Atsushi, Akutagawa refrains from doing so, saying he'll leave him alone to deal with the pain of losing his mentor. He also develops an adept understanding of Beast Beneath the Moonlight, aiding both of them when fighting together against Fitzgerald and Goncharov.

For all his rage, bitterness, and resentment towards humanity and the world itself, Akutagawa has his moments. He has an amicable relationship with his younger sister, Gin, going as far as to help and do her favors without complaint. Further, after Higuchi and Black Lizard save him from a rival group, Akutagawa apologizes to Higuchi for the trouble. Although these are small, short moments of Akutagawa's calmer, earnest side, they nonetheless carry weight. It's evident Akutagawa rarely or never lies, making him honest, even if it's a brutal and unnecessary majority of the time.

Akutagawa's ability Rashōmon (羅ら生しょう門もん,, Rashōmon?) transforms his overcoat into a dark monster capable of slicing through anything, even space itself. He can also use his ability with other clothing.

He and his younger sister, Gin Akutagawa, were orphans and used to live in the slums along with about eight other children. At the mercy of the slums and its disgusting air, Akutagawa's lungs suffered, as a result, ending in his poor health.

The other children happened to overhear a conversation regarding the time and location of a shipment the Port Mafia was supposed to deliver to low-level subordinates. The men knew about this and sought out the children, beating everyone but Gin and Akutagawa, who managed to escape, to death.

Following through a promise made with his companions, Akutagawa went to the place where the transaction was said to take place in order to exact revenge on the men who killed his companions. When he reached the place, the six men were all dead by Dazai's order—as a gift to Akutagawa who he wanted to take on as his subordinate. He offered either entry as his student, or to give Akutagawa and his sister enough money that they never had to worry about poverty again. In a fit of rage and grief, Akutagawa joined Port Mafia, overcome by a foreign sense of respect he felt towards Dazai.

Rashōmon enables Akutagawa to freely manipulate the shape and properties of his clothing. Akutagawa usually transforms his black coat into sharp blades that can easily slash off limbs or into a dragon-like beast which is said to consume anything, even space itself. This allows Akutagawa to create an impenetrable shield that can block incoming attacks, such as gunfire and punches, since the space that they would normally have to cross to reach Akutagawa has been consumed.[1][2] However, its space-rupturing capabilities needs time to activate, so taking advantage of this can give the enemy a window of opportunity to attack.[3]

Rashōmon can also be used to increase Akutagawa's mobility, such as elevating himself into the air or using his coat like a grappling hook to propel himself to otherwise unreachable locations. Akutagawa can also freely pull himself out from his overcoat to free himself when faced in a dangerous situation.[2]

It is also capable of digging and slicing the ground so it can be used for stealth purposes,[4] can serve as a foothold for attacks,[5] can be used as a tool to restrain someone,[4][6][7] using the ability's fabric as a cast to set his broken bone,[7] or basically a tool to slice other things such as a fire extinguisher as a defense in a battle.[8]

Types

Rashōmon: Agito (羅ら生しょう門もん・顎アギト,, Rashōmon: Agito? lit. "Rashōmon: Jaws"): Rashōmon is shaped into the form of a jaw to crush the target.[1] Rashōmon: Murakumo (羅ら生しょう門もん・叢ムラクモ,, Rashōmon: Murakumo? lit. "Rashōmon: Swarm"): Rashōmon becomes a gigantic clawed appendage that extends from Akutagawa's arm. It can be used to carry out an attack.[1] Rashōmon: Higanzakura (羅ら生しょう門もん・彼ひ岸がん桜ざくら,, Rashōmon: Higanzakura? lit. "Rashōmon: Early Blooming Cherry Blossoms"): Rashōmon changes to a tendril-like form, wrapping around the target and lifting him up high in the air. Once at an appropriate height and distance, Rashōmon explodes into several finely-developed flower spikes.[3] Rashōmon: Sawarabi (羅ら生しょう門もん・早さ蕨わらび,, Rashōmon: Sawarabi? lit. "Rashōmon: Freshly Budded Bracken"): Several spikes spring up from the ground to thoroughly impale the target.[3] Rashōmon: Gokumon Agito (羅ら生しょう門もん・獄ごく門もん顎あぎと,, Rashōmon: Gokumon Agito? lit. "Rashōmon: Prison Gate Jaws"): A variation of Rashōmon: Agito, considerably smaller in size.[3] Rashōmon: Renmon Agito (羅ら生しょう門もん・連れん門もん顎あぎと,, Rashōmon: Renmon Agito? lit. "Rashōmon: Endless Gate Jaws"): Another variation of Rashōmon: Agito. Akutagawa materializes several Rashōmon Jaws to deal with a devastating attack.[9] Rashōmon: Kurohatō (羅ら生しょう門もん・黒くろ波は濤とう,, Rashōmon: Kurohatō?): Rashōmon splits into several tendrils, possibly capable of striking down the opponent in numerous whip-like attacks.[10] Rashōmon: Tenma Tengai (羅ら生しょう門もん・天てん魔ま纏てん鎧がい,, Rashōmon: Tenma Tengai? lit. "Rashōmon: Demon Wearing Armor"): Akutagawa wraps himself with an exoskeleton-like armor using the black fabric.[11][12] Rashōmon: Tenma Agito (羅ら生しょう門もん・天てん魔ま顎あぎと,, Rashōmon: Tenma Agito? lit. "Rashōmon: Demonic Jaws"): While Akutagawa is wrapped in his exoskeleton Rashōmon armor, he directs his power to his arms that take the form and force of Rashōmon: Agito, used mainly for defense.[2] Beast Beneath the Moonlight–Rashōmon (月げっ下か獣じゅう羅ら生しょう門もん,, Gekka-jū Rashōmon?): While Atsushi activates Beast Beneath the Moonlight, he is wrapped by Rashōmon.[13] Beast Beneath the Moonlight–Rashōmon: Toramurakumo (月げっ下か獣じゅう羅ら生しょう門もん・虎とら叢むらくも,, Gekka-jū Rashōmon: Tora Murakumo?): Atsushi's tiger claw is wrapped in Rashōmon and enhances its offensive power, enough to overwhelm a fully-powered Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald.[14] Beast Beneath the Moonlight–Rashōmon: Black Tiger's Supreme Claw (月げっ下か獣じゅう羅ら生しょう門もん・黒こっ虎こ絶ぜっ爪そう,, Gekka-jū Rashōmon: Kokko Zessō?): Using the tiger's claws that can cut through abilities themselves and Rashōmon, Atsushi can stretch out that severed space and cut through physical armor and abilities. As it morphs into a divine blade,[13] Akutagawa claims that no life form can possibly survive this attack.

Akutagawa an assistant Ichiyo Higuchi:

Higuchi is a short young woman in her 20s. She has shoulder-length blonde hair, which she usually wears in a small bun, and dark brown eyes. She wears a classic black suit, leaving the jacket wide open. The set also includes black sunglasses and brown boots. Under the jacket she wears a classic white shirt with a V-neck at the bottom.

As a member of the Mafia, Higuchi is ruthless and does not shy away from eliminating her targets. When faced with an enemy, she acts aloof, often stern and serious, without showing much sympathy towards them.[3][4] She does not tolerate disrespect and hates those who underestimate the Port Mafia.

Higuchi's personality, as noted by her Boss and herself, is not very suitable for working in the Port Mafia. Beneath her tough exterior lies a rather sensitive nature, quick to question herself. Ichiyo even considered leaving the Mafia several times. As a result, her subordinates rarely show the girl respect, and many follow orders out of fear of Akutagawa's wrath. However, Ichiyo's impulsive spirit prompts her to take drastic measures, sometimes contrary to orders.

Higuchi after seeing Akutagawa in casual clothes Higuchi sees Akutagawa Higuchi's greatest weakness is her strong, bordering on obsessive, devotion to Ryunosuke Akutagawa, to whom she obeys almost unconditionally. Ichiyo often insists on replacing Akutagawa, concerned about his poor health. However, the woman's loyalty is countered by Ryunosuke's abusive and cruel treatment.

Akutagawa a younger sister Gin Akutagawa:

Gin has dark gray eyes and long black hair. As a mafioso, she keeps her hair in a spiked bun, leaving sections of shoulder-length hair down. Most of it falls to the right side of her face, whilst a strand falls over the middle.

Gin wears a gray, short-sleeved v-neck, black trousers, and black heels.[note 1] Over her shirt, she wears a long, flared black coat is seen dressed in an outfit comprising of a long black cloak with a hood and frayed trim. The right sleeve, tightened by a black band on her bicep, is long with an extended part with frayed trim, and the left sleeve appears torn off, exposing her arm. She wears reddish-grey gloves that extend a tad beyond her elbows. The right glove being complete whilst the left glove is fingerless.

In addition, she also wears a black choker with a white cross on it,[note 2] and a white mask that covers her nose and mouth.

Her casual wear is much less elaborate. She leaves her hair completely down, showing it to be silky and a bit wavy, falling past her waist. She wears a light, knee-length dress, black stockings, heels, and a stylish, buttoned coat. She also carries a purse with her. She is quite feminine in this attire, and she's noted as being exceptionally beautiful.

As an assassin, Gin is silent and stealthy, described by Tachihara as being able to sneak behind someone and slash their throats instantly. This was demonstrated when she snuck behind Higuchi and put a knife to her throat before she could notice.[4]

Gin and Tachihara at each other's throats Gin threatens Tachihara. Fitting of an assassin, Gin is deathly quiet, seldom speaking, and pairs her silence with either indifferent or serious expressions. Like her brother, she quickly lashes out when provoked. Her fellow commander, Tachihara, has no problem antagonizing her, ending up as the target of her temper majority of the time.[5] However, unlike her brother, her anger is often shortlived. Although she has a sense of humor, it's implied to be rather dry and sarcastic, such as writing "Congrats!" in the dirt to Tachihara when Atsushi forces him to hold a baby during the Q incident.[6]

Gin flustered Gin's soft personality. Hidden beneath her stoic personality, she blushes easily when embarrassed such as when Osamu Dazai mentioned how she was a "dainty little girl" when she was younger and when Higuchi saw her in her civilian clothes. She is also noted to have a very cute voice. When it comes to others, it appears she prefers keeping this side of her to herself and dislikes being put on the spot over it.[7] However, more recently, she has become more comfortable conversing with her coworkers and has also been shown to care about their wellbeing.

Gin meets up with Akutagawa Gin's relationship with her brother.
