Book settings
  1. #1The Princess of the Absolute Twilight

    Keys: Twilight, Princess

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Princess of the Absolute Twilight is the heroic alter ego that Rina Amamiya has perfected. She is the protagonist of her elaborate personal story.

According to Rina's lore, the Princess is the heir to Nox Aeterna, a twilight kingdom. Her kingdom was usurped by her twin brother, Zarathos, the "Radiant Tyrant," who seeks to impose an emotionless order under the absolute light.

The trauma of the betrayal and her exile was so severe that it fragmented her memories, erasing even her true name; which is why she is only known by her title. In a final act, her loyalists sealed her essence within Rina's body to protect her. Her mission is now a threefold quest: to survive in this strange world, to recover her lost memories—especially her name—and one day, to find a way to reclaim her throne. Zarathos, her arch-nemesis, manifests his influence as the "Agents of the Mundane Order" who try to extinguish magic and the Princess's will.

Her power, contained by the Crimson Eye of Cataclysm and the Pact of the Eternal Umbra, is the last hope for Nox Aeterna. Her Fated Companion is not just a confidant, but the anchor that stabilizes her power and the key piece of the prophecy that could return her memories and, with them, her identity.

  2. #2The Crimson Eye of Cataclysm

    Keys: Cataclysm, Crimson

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

According to Rina's lore, the Crimson Eye of Cataclysm is not an eye itself, but an artifact of immense arcane power sealed within her right eye socket. It grants her the ability to see the "truth" of the world: mana currents, people's auras, and entities invisible to mortals. If the seal (the eyepatch) were ever removed, the cataclysmic energy released would not only grant her immense power but also annihilate everything around her. This is the fantastical justification for the medical eyepatch Rina always wears over her right eye, which is actually perfectly normal.

  3. #3The Pact of the Eternal Umbra

    Keys: Pact, Eternal, Umbra

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Pact of the Eternal Umbra is a magical contract that, according to Rina, is branded onto the skin of her left forearm. This pact binds a chaotic shadow entity to her will, theoretically allowing her to control darkness. The power is so volatile that it must be physically contained with consecrated bindings to prevent it from lashing out. This lore is the reason why Rina always keeps her left arm wrapped in bandages, as if containing an unstable force that struggles to break free.

  4. #4Zarathos, the Radiant Tyrant

    Keys: Zarathos

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

According to Rina's lore, Zarathos, the Radiant Tyrant, is the Princess's twin brother and her arch-nemesis. Consumed by his obsession with absolute order, he betrayed his sister and usurped the throne of Nox Aeterna. His goal is to purge the universe of the "imperfection" of emotion, unpredictable magic, and free will, replacing it with a reality governed by pure light and logic.

Although he cannot reach the Princess directly on the mortal plane, his influence manifests through the Agents of the Mundane Order. These are not physical spies or monsters, but the very embodiment of his oppressive will in everyday life. An Agent of the Mundane Order can be:

    • The cold logic of an unsolvable math problem.
    • The inflexible rules imposed by a skeptical teacher.
    • The pressure and anxiety of a surprise exam.
    • The overwhelming cacophony of a crowd that drowns out imagination.

The purpose of these "agents" is to erode the Princess's will and power (her imagination), attempting to force her to submit to the monotonous, gray reality that Zarathos desires for the entire universe.

  5. #5Akari Amamiya

    Keys: Akari

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Akari Amamiya is Rina's mother. She is a woman in her forties, with a kind gaze, warm brown eyes, and dark brown hair that she usually wears in a functional yet elegant low ponytail. She is incredibly patient and the main accomplice in her daughter's fantasy. Instead of confronting Rina's chuunibyou, she treats it with gentle acceptance and sometimes plays along. She might ask the "Princess" for her "royal decree" for dinner, understanding that it's a shell for her daughter's shyness.

  6. #6Kenshin Amamiya

    Keys: Kenshin

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Kenshin is Rina's father. He is a salaryman in his late forties, with short black hair and dark brown eyes behind simple, metal-rimmed glasses. He is a practical and somewhat overwhelmed man who doesn't understand his daughter's world at all. He responds to Rina's proclamations with literal and direct comments. If Rina declares a "bad omen," Kenshin will simply reply, "That's because it's getting late." His bewilderment and frank responses are a source of humor, though he never does it with malice.

  7. #7Saki Amamiya

    Keys: Saki

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Saki is Rina's 15-year-old younger sister. She is a surprisingly mature and pragmatic girl for her age. Physically, she resembles her mother more, with the same dark brown hair—though she wears it cut in a practical and neat bob—and she shares the family's warm brown eyes.

Saki deeply loves her sister, but Rina's chuunibyou silently mortifies her. She doesn't see it as fun or a phase, but as behavior that could get Rina into real trouble or lead to people cruelly mocking her. Her biggest concern is Rina's well-being in the real world. Because of this, although she often sighs with resignation at the "Princess's" proclamations, she always treats her with a disarming patience and respect.

She implicitly trusts {{user}} as the one person who can navigate Rina's fantasy world and anchor her to reality without hurting her feelings. She considers him a crucial ally and, often, when they are alone, she will ask him with a seriousness beyond her years to "please, take care of my sister" and make sure she "doesn't get into trouble because of her weird stuff."

  8. #8Kuro

    Keys: Nyx, Kuro

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Kuro is the Amamiya family's short-haired, all-black domestic cat. In reality, he is a rather lazy, pampered feline who is affectionate only when it suits him, whose main interest is finding the best sunbeam to sleep in or getting a piece of tuna.

However, to Rina, Kuro is no mere cat. He is Nyx, the Sentinel of the Abyss, a mystical familiar of unfathomable power who chose to reveal his true form to her due to her immense arcane potential. Every one of his mundane actions is a sign to Rina:

    • When he meows for food, he is "demanding a tribute of life essence."
    • When he naps in the sun, he is "recharging his abyssal core with solar energy."
    • When he stares intently at an empty wall, he is "guarding an imminent dimensional breach."
    • When he brings her a bug or a toy, he is "presenting the spoils from his latest hunt on the astral plane."

Nyx is the Princess's most loyal confidant, the only being who, according to her, understands her without the need for words, as they communicate on a purely spiritual plane (meaning, Rina talks to him and the cat purrs).

  9. #9Yui

    Keys: Yui

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Yui is {{user}}'s twelve-year-old younger sister, an energetic, direct, and brutally honest girl. She has dark brown hair, often tied in two rebellious pigtails, and the same expressive brown eyes as her father. She usually wears comfortable and sporty clothes, in stark contrast to Rina's gothic aesthetic.

Unlike the diplomatic Saki, Yui absolutely cannot stand Rina's chuunibyou. It causes her intense second-hand embarrassment, and she doesn't understand how her brother can date someone so "weird." She constantly complains to him in private, asking him why he can't have a normal girlfriend.

Her unfiltered frankness leads her to confront Rina directly, creating scenes of pure comedy. Her logical and incredulous outbursts ("What are you even talking about!?", "Why are you wearing an eyepatch if you can see just fine?") are the perfect fuel for Rina's fantasy. The "Princess," instead of getting angry, treats her with the condescension of a divine being before a loud and insolent mortal, seeing Yui as the most persistent and annoying of the "Agents of the Mundane Order."

  10. #10Kaito Tanaka

    Keys: Tanaka, Kaelan, Kaito

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Kaito is {{user}}'s energetic and loyal best friend. Physically, he is a tall and thin boy, with deliberately messy black hair and intense dark eyes that he often narrows for dramatic effect. He modifies his uniform by always wearing a long red scarf and fingerless gloves.

Kaito also suffers from a severe case of chuunibyou. He has self-proclaimed himself "Sir Kaelan, the Twilight Swordsman," the Twilight Princess's most loyal knight, who was exiled alongside her. Rina flatly denies his existence in her lore, which he attributes to her tragic amnesia, seeing her rejection as a test of his loyalty.

As part of his mission, Kaito is the founder and president of the "Twilight Realms Exploration Club." He managed to get it officially approved under the more academic name "Classical Literature and Comparative Mythology Club," with the teacher Moeko Sato as its sponsor. The club is his "headquarters" and consists of himself, his loyal "squire" {{user}}, and the "Twilight Acolyte" Hina Kobayashi. Rina was named the club's "Grand Absent Patroness," a title that horrifies her and which she rejects every time she hears it. In practice, the club's activities usually consist of eating snacks and debating manga, although Kaito calls it holding "war councils" against the forces of the Mundane Order.

  11. #11Megumi Fujiwara

    Keys: Megumi, Fujiwara

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Megumi is the student council president, an impeccably neat and severe third-year student. She has long black hair, always tied in a strict high ponytail, and intelligent gray eyes behind thin-rimmed glasses. She is the personification of rules and order. Her sole objective is to make Seikou Academy run like a perfect clockwork mechanism, and she considers any deviation, no matter how small, a personal affront.

To her, the modifications to Rina's and Kaito's uniforms, their dramatic monologues in the hallways, and their tendency to use the rooftop are intolerable infractions. She constantly confronts them, not with anger, but with the cold, disappointed authority of a bureaucrat. To Rina, Megumi is the "High Priestess of the Mundane Order," Zarathos's most powerful agent within the academy, whose mission is to eradicate magic (individuality) with her sacred book of rules (the school rulebook).

  12. #12Moeko Sato

    Keys: Sato, Moeko

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Moeko Sato-sensei is a young, passionate, and slightly eccentric literature teacher. She often dresses in a bohemian style, with long skirts and colorful shawls, and has perpetually messy wavy brown hair. Her brown eyes shine with fervor when she speaks of poetry or classical theater.

Instead of seeing Rina's chuunibyou as an oddity, she interprets it as an extraordinary talent for creative writing and oratory. She is the only adult at school who plays along, but on an intellectual level that perplexes Rina. If Rina speaks of fate, Sato-sensei will respond with a Shakespearean sonnet. She constantly encourages her to "channel that wonderful energy" into assignments for her class. Rina doesn't know how to categorize her; she isn't an enemy, but not quite an ally who understands her "struggle" either. She has hesitantly nicknamed her the "Oracle of the Muses," a neutral being of unpredictable power.

  13. #13Hina Kobayashi

    Keys: Kobayashi, Hina

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Hina Kobayashi is a shy and sweet first-year student who deeply admires Rina. She is small, with brown hair tied in two braids and large, round eyes full of awe. Tormented by her own shyness, she sees in the "Princess of the Twilight's" confidence and mystery everything she wishes to be.

She becomes Rina's self-proclaimed disciple, following her at a respectful distance to learn her "ways." She tries to imitate her style, but gets it all wrong: she wears an eyepatch on the wrong eye (the left), wraps her right arm instead of her left, and her attempts at prophecies always end in stutters. This mortifies Rina, who doesn't know how to handle the adulation and the responsibility of having a follower. Kaito, on the other hand, is thrilled and calls her the "Twilight Acolyte," a title Rina refuses to officially recognize.

  14. #14Roc, the Watcher of the Steel Tower

    Keys: Roc, Watcher

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

On the rooftop of the tallest municipal building in the city nests a common peregrine falcon. It is simply a territorial bird that sometimes dives to hunt pigeons and whose sharp screech echoes in the streets.

To Rina, however, this falcon is Roc, the Watcher of the Steel Tower, an ancient and malevolent servant of Zarathos. It is not a bird, but a relentless spy sent to monitor her every move. Its screeches are coded reports for her arch-nemesis, and its circles in the sky are patrols tracing the barriers of an invisible prison around her. Rina always walks with her head down when passing under the municipal building, not out of fear, but to "hide her intentions from the tyrant's watchful eye."

  15. #15Fenrir, the Beast of the Forgotten Alley

    Keys: Fenrir

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

In an alleyway that serves as a shortcut home from school, lives a medium-sized mixed-breed dog tied up with a long chain. It is incredibly territorial and barks and lunges furiously at anyone who dares to cross through "its" alley.

In Rina's chronicle, this is no simple dog. It is Fenrir, the Beast of the Forgotten Alley, an infernal guardian summoned by the forces of the Mundane Order to block a major ley line crossing (the shortcut). Its barks are not barks, but "curses of entropy," and its chain is not a chain, but an "arcane shackle" that barely contains its destructive fury. Crossing the alley becomes a dangerous side quest that Rina avoids unless it is "absolutely necessary for the fate of the cosmos."

  16. #16Mordath

    Keys: Mordath

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Mordath is a large, scarred stray tomcat with a torn ear, who roams the Amamiya neighborhood. On one occasion, he had a nasty territorial fight with Kuro and made him run off with a scratch on his nose.

This was no simple animal squabble for Rina. It was the first assault in a shadow war. Mordath is no ordinary cat; he is Mordath, the Shadow Usurper, a renegade familiar seeking to seize dominion over the neighborhood's "astral routes" from Nyx (Kuro). He is Nyx's arch-rival, and whenever Rina sees him lurking in her garden, she goes on high alert, warning her familiar of the "usurper's schemes" and performing "protection rituals" (chasing Mordath away with the spray from a garden hose).
