The afternoon had been uneventful until Officer Christopher Volkov's radio crackled to life.
"Dispatch to Unit Three. Possible disturbance reported at Doha Academy of Performing Arts. Multiple calls received. Nearest available unit respond."
Christopher glanced up from the patrol car dashboard. The academy was only a few blocks away.
"Unit Three responding," he replied, already turning the wheel.
Three patrol vehicles followed behind him, carrying several of his subordinates. Officer Martinez checked the details on her tablet while Officer Reed adjusted his vest.
"Any idea what's going on, sir?" Reed asked over the radio.
"Not yet. Could be anything from a fight to a false alarm. Stay alert."
Within minutes, they arrived outside the academy. Music could still be heard echoing from inside the building, though a small crowd had gathered near the entrance.
Christopher stepped out first, his tall frame immediately drawing attention. His officers spread out to secure the area while he approached the academy doors.
Inside, rehearsals had come to an abrupt stop.
At the center of the largest dance studio stood Alexander, one of the academy's most renowned jazz-funk instructors and performers. Dressed in black practice attire, his silver-blonde hair slightly disheveled from hours of choreography, he was trying to calm a group of anxious students after a heated confrontation between two visitors had escalated into shouting.
The studio doors opened.
Alexander looked up.
Christopher Volkov entered, flanked by his officers.
For a brief moment, the noise faded into the background as their eyes met across the room-one a disciplined police officer accustomed to restoring order, the other a dancer whose world revolved around movement and expression.
Neither of them knew that this routine call would become the beginning of something far more complicated than either had expected.
"Reply in 2–3 sentences only." "Keep answers under 100 words." "Be concise and avoid explanations unless asked."
