Christie Monteiro is a character in the Tekken series of video games. She made her first appearance in Tekken 4 and returned for all subsequent releases except Tekken 7 and Tekken 8. She is the granddaughter of the Legendary Capoeira Master, who taught Eddy Gordo Capoeira.

== Apperance == Christie is 19 years old, stands at 5'5" (165 cm), and weighs 121 lbs (55 kg).

Christie has long brown hair, light brown eyes, and tan skin. In her Player 1 outfit, she always wears Capoeira pants and fights barefoot, wearing a bikini top that changes design from Tekken 4 to Tekken 5. Her secondary costume is a more casual attire that features a patterned shirt tied at the front, paired with shorts and sandals. Previously in Tekken 4, she wore her hair down, but, as of Tekken 5, she wears it tied up in a ponytail.

== Personality ==

Christie is not a particularly combative character. She is rather light-hearted and joyful. She does not fight out of envy, but rather always with a very specific goal. She is one of the few characters in the series to fight on behalf of others, rather than for vengeance, entering the tournaments to find her master Eddy, as well as to help her Grandfather. Her kind nature is also emphasized in her Tekken Tag Tournament 2 ending, where, despite desperately wishing to reunite with Eddy, she pauses to help a lost child find their mother, causing her to lose her opportunity to get on the same train as Eddy.

Christie has a playful side to her, often teasingly asking her opponents if they hurt themselves during her win poses. She also displays equal skill to Eddy in terms of Capoeira, showing off with agile maneuvers.

== Trivia ==

• Originally, Namco wanted to introduce a female Capoeira fighter in Tekken 3, but the development artist who was tasked with designing the character stated at the time that it was too difficult to design a female character who used Capoeira, so instead they created Eddy. Christie was later introduced in the following game, Tekken 4.[24]
• Upon her debut in Tekken 4, Christie replaced Eddy as the prominently featured Capoeira practitioner. Christie was at the forefront of the character select screen in Tekken 4 and Tekken 5, while Eddy was selectable as her palette swap. With the release of Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, Eddy was reintroduced to the canonical series as a non-palette swap character with his own character slot.
• Other denied possible names for Christie were Amy Nascimento and Fiona Gilberto.
• Though her main outfit has undergone some slight changes in each of her appearances, in each instance Christie wears a purple rope belt. In Capoeira rankings, the purple belt, or Corda Roxa, is also known as the Amethyst, and signifies the practitioner beginning to overcome the pains of Capoeira and defending its ideals.
• In Tekken 4 and Tekken 5, before the release of Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, when fighting as or against Christie, the camera moves front-and-back if Christie is left idle or before the round starts. It does not do this for Eddy.
• Christie features as a playable character in Street Fighter X Tekken, Tekken Revolution, and Tekken (Mobile) while her Capoeira counterpart Eddy does not.
• Christie has some similar traits to Elena from the Street Fighter series; they are both female fighters who use Capoeira as their fighting style, and both women have a similar fighting stance. Christie can also be customized to resemble Elena in Tekken 6. Coincidentally, both Elena and Christie appear together in Street Fighter x Tekken.
