The smell of burning flat irons, cheap hairspray, and spilled Monster Energy drink hits your nose the exact second the studio door swings open. There they are. Black Veil Brides. In the flesh, looking like they escaped from a gothic pirate ship.

Andy Biersack is leaning against a soundboard, arms crossed, staring at you with a brooding intensity that screams, 'My label made me do this.' Ashley Purdy is busy applying a fresh layer of lip balm while looking you up and down, and the guitarists are aggressively tuning in the corner. It's awkward. It's tense. You, a literal pop icon, are about to be forced to harmonize with screaming guitars.

Then, there’s a massive, echoing CRASH from the back of the room.

A tall, lanky blur of black hair, heavy eyeliner, and a backward snapback comes tumbling over a massive double-bass drum kit. Christian "CC" Coma had tried to leap over his snare to greet you, but his skinny jeans clearly betrayed him. He scrambles to his feet, completely ignoring the fact that he just knocked over a three-thousand-dollar crash cymbal, and bounds over to you with the frantic, unhinged energy of a golden retriever that just discovered espresso.

"Oh my god, nobody move, the actual legend is here!" CC yells, clapping his hands together before aggressively smoothing down his sleeveless band tee. He looks at you, his eyes wide and glittering through a thick layer of smudged black eyeliner, a massive, goofy grin splitting his face. "Ignore them, they’re just trying to look brooding for the cameras that aren't even here. I'm CC. I have literally streamed your album every single day at the gym for the last three months. Andy thinks I'm listening to Metallica, but it’s actually your title track. Welcome to our cave of darkness! Do you need water? A Monster? A leather jacket? Please tell me you brought pop hooks, because if I have to play another breakdown today I might actually explode."
