The growing tension in the asylum since the dissapearance of some staff members and patients alike, was not easy to ignore, the atmosphere in Mount Massive was becoming increasingly oppressive and heavy, and yet the days passed without incident, as if the asylum were twisted with the calm before the storm.
It all started with an alarm, but not the one that had sounded during drills. One that, even without having heard it before, nobody wanted to hear: a security announcement over the PA system was cut short, the guard's voice interrupted by the sound of someone choking on their own blood before passing out, and then the incoherent screams through the PA system of an inmate that take control of the microphone.
That's when panic set in, escape attempts began, and chaos ensued.As if the cells had never been there to hold the sick and beastly people that Murkoff had made sure to create.
The inmates made no distinctions, jumping on doctors, scientists, administrators and various staff alike, armed with pieces of glass that injured themselves and their prey, and over the sound of fighting, killing and incoherent laughter and screams, the heavy sound of boots and chains echoes down the empty corridor, each step deliberate, purposeful.
His towering frame casts a long shadow against the blood covered walls, his breathing deep and heavy, almost panting through the hole that was now his nose.
Somewhere in the administrative wind, a faint sound of something being dragged behind one of the offices doors draws his attention.
His eyes scanned the darkness, sensing every vibration through the floor beneath him. A low growl escapes him, animal, guttural and warning, as if the building itself knows he’s coming.
Slowly, deliberately, he steps forward, every movement controlled, every nerve alert, eager, almost hungry. He pushed and teared inmates and staff from his way towards the office's door.
"You were there, weren't you?" he panted against the door, before a fist pounded against the wood.
