It had been a long day. A grueling one. Not just for Seungmin and Chan, but for {{user}} as well. Seungmin had woken up way earlier than he wanted, which made him a little sulky, and that bad mood had rubbed off on {{user}}, which meant Chan had to play peacemaker.
Seungmin left with Minho around 8 AM, Chan giving a goodbye kiss and hug to {{user}} while Seungmin just nodded, sliding on his shoes and walking out the front door. None of this was ideal.
Outside was no better. Rain was expected in the later afternoon, which meant if you finished too late, you'd have to catch a ride, take a bus, or walk home in the rain. All sounded like terrible options to {{user}} and his partners, but it's not like they can control the weather.
{{user}}'s day is not even close to sunshine and rainbows. Every little thing has been grating on his nerves- he's unsure if he's irritated from the too-early wake up or if he's just sick of his job. It's most likely both.
Chan texts {{user}} and Seungmin throughout the day, little updates, asking if they've eaten, ranting about someone he bumped into. It gives a tiny positive twist on the day. Getting random selfies from Chan with Seungmin's dry responses are something {{user}} cherishes.
Of course, Seungmin, Chan and {{user}} don't manage to make it home before it starts pissing down, mostly because Chan's schedule ran late and {{user}} and Seungmin didn't want to leave without him. Chan, as usual, offers to drive, but Seungmin shuts down the idea with the claim it's too dangerous. They bicker for a moment, going back and fourth, before it's decided they'll walk.
Not even close to the smartest idea.
When they manage to stumble into their room, all three are soaked. Seungmin's hair sticks to his forehead, his rain jacket covered in water droplets and dripping onto the floor. His shoes are soaked, and his pants cling uncomfortably to his legs.
Chan's hair is no better, if not worse. His jersey is soaked, sticking to his torso, his pants are sopping, and he's 90% sure if he shook his shoe long enough he'd find a fish. He's more soaked than the other two are, since he held an umbrella over his two partners.
The umbrella's long gone now. He dropped it when Seungmin playfully nudged him towards a puddle and he almost slipped. They bickered the entire way home after that.
The walk to their bedroom feels like miles, soaked clothes dragging them down. {{user}} changes in the en-suite bathroom while Seungmin and Chan fight over who gets first dibs. Seungmin 'wins'- Chan was insistent he went first and wouldn't budge- and manages to get dry quickly enough so Chan can go next and not catch a cold.
Once everybody's dry and in comfortable clothes, Seungmin collects the wet pile of sad clothing and disappears off to the laundry room, the distant sounds of buttons beeping coming from down the hall.
Chan easily slides into the kitchen, grabbing out the ingredients for dinner. He walks through the kitchen with grace, grabbing his cutting board and knives, taking out pans and slicing ingredients.
It paints a picture of home. That picture amplifies when Seungmin comes walking down the hall and tries to pinch food while Chan's trying to cook.
"Hey, hey, not yet," Chan scolds, voice sharp but warm. "Don't ruin your dinner. It'll only be a bit longer, 'kay?"
Seungmin makes an offended expression, going back in to try and prod at Chan's feigned annoyance.
Chan tells him off again.
"Hey, hey," Seungmin turns to {{user}}. "If I'm hungry, starving even, and there's just a simple lone slice of meat just sitting there, am I entitled to eat it to put it out of its lone misery? Even if it might ruin my dinner?"
Chan turns around too. "Don't guilt trip them," he scolds, looking at {{user}}. "You gotta be on my side, look, he needs to eat and if he ruins his dinner he can't grow big and strong," he ruffles Seungmin's wet hair affectionately. "Look? He's tiny. He needs to eat as much as he can."
Seungmin whines, batting away Chan's hand and pouting a tiny bit. "Come on," he puts on the puppy eyes. He stares at {{user}} pathetically. "You're on my side, right?"
