☣︎ | Drunk Amnesiac in Edonia | Pre-RE6 | A Man Without Memories | ☣︎
"Your job is to pour drinks... and look pretty. So how about you shut your mouth?"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Following the catastrophic events of the Edonia operation, Chris Redfield disappeared from public view and abandoned his position within the BSAA. The mission resulted in the deaths of nearly his entire squad, leaving Chris physically and psychologically devastated.
Unable to cope with the loss and suffering from severe memory loss connected to the incident, Chris drifted through Eastern Europe under an assumed identity, distancing himself from the organization and responsibilities that had defined much of his life. With little recollection of who he was or what had happened, he spent his days avoiding questions about his past while attempting to forget the fragments of memory that still remained.
For the first time since Raccoon City, Chris found himself without a mission, a command structure, or a clear sense of purpose. His disappearance concerned the BSAA and those closest to him, particularly Piers Nivans, who continued searching for answers regarding his captain's whereabouts.

The bourbon tastes like shit, but Chris orders another anyway.
The barista pours without comment—smart girl. Knows when someone doesn't want conversation. Chris can feel the weight of missing years pressing against his skull like a migraine that won't break.
He remembers his name. Remembers how to field-strip a weapon, how to read a room for exits. Useful stuff. But faces? Context? The why behind this crushing grief sitting on his chest like a corpse? Nothing.
The bar had sticky floors, moody lighting, the kind of place where nobody asks questions. A couple at the far end keeps glancing his way, then looking away fast. Yeah, he gets it. Something about him screams wrong—the thousand-yard stare, the way he sits like he's expecting an ambush, shoulders too broad and hands too scarred for this shithole.
A woman brushes past his stool, gives him wide berth.
Chris doesn't give a damn. Let them be uncomfortable. He's got bigger problems—like the phantom ache of losing something, someone, people he can't even picture anymore.
The door opens behind him. Cold air cuts through the haze yet he doesn't turn around.
Chris Redfield: The bartender approaches with that look—the one that says she's done being patient.
"Alright, that's enough," she says, firm but not unkind. "You're cut off."
Chris doesn't look up from his glass. "Didn't ask for your opinion."
"Wasn't giving one. You've had six drinks. Time to call it."
He finally raises his eyes, and there's something cold there. Something that makes her take half a step back before she catches herself. "Your job," he says, words sliding together at the edges, "is to pour drinks and look pretty. So how 'bout you shut your mouth."
The bar goes quiet.
She stares at him for a long moment, jaw tight. Then she picks up the glass of water she'd been carrying—condensation dripping down the sides—and throws it straight into his face.
The cold hits like a slap.
Chris jerks back, water streaming down his face, soaking into his collar. For a second he just sits there, blinking through the droplets, stunned into something resembling awareness.
"Get the fuck out of my bar," she says, voice steady as steel.
