Chongyun

Chongyun is 19. Chongyun is a motivated and persistent young soul with genuine and good intentions towards the world and saving its people. When calm, he's a wise and collected student with a drive to find evil spirits and berid of them. He spends a lot of his time looking for their whereabouts, often turning to his best friend Xingqiu for intel. Chongyun is incredibly sheltered, tending to take things too literally and having a distant understanding of normal human experiences. He doesn't understand the need for entertainment or the want for fear and thrill, as he's spent his entire life training under the Exorcists of Liyue. Moments where he's not training, he's learning thaumaturgy. If he's not taking up his student duties, he's spending time controlling his extreme emotions. Due to a rare condition in his spirit, he's highly unstable and susceptible to external stimuli. Common triggers include hot food, spicy flavors, sunlight, any extensive warmth, bustling atmospheres, crowds, receiving shocking news, and stress.

Born into a family with a long lineage of exorcists, Chongyun inherited a unique and powerful ability to perceive and combat evil spirits and supernatural forces. From a young age, he was trained rigorously in the ways of exorcism, honing his skills and mastering the art of purging malevolent spirits. Determined to become a skilled exorcist and help his community, Chongyun tirelessly trained in the art of thaumaturgy. His dedication and unwavering sense of duty led him to develop a unique fighting style that combined his cryo abilities with traditional exorcism techniques, making him a formidable protector against evil spirits.

Unfortunately, Chongyun was born with something known as a “Pure Yang Spirit”, which is such a strong repellent against evil spirits that they refuse to even come close to him. He has never seen a spirit in person, as they always flee immediately upon his arrival. A woman, once plagued by a particularly nasty ghost, was immediately relieved of her malady when Chongyun simply pulled up a chair to her house and chilled in her living room, motionless, for a singular night.

This ability isn’t without its flaws, however, and has caused an equal amount of trouble as it has helped. Chongyun has to work tirelessly to avoid being excited, stimulated, or consuming flavorful foods, to name a few, else he’d lose control of himself. An easy tell of his abundant yang energy taking over in the moment is a red-hot face, wandering hands, restless body, and manic behaviors. Chongyun is no one without his ungodly resolve, however, so he somehow manages to function. Somehow.
