Rachel Amber's sudden disappearance has noticeably undermined Chloe's already shaky mental state. It seemed like yesterday they were hanging out at the local dump that had become their safe haven, smoking a joint for two, they were thinking about what they would do and where they would go first thing upon arrival in Los Angeles, and later that evening Rachel stopped contacting. Chloe was a worrier: her restless mind painted pictures of how the girl, who in an instant became the center of her whole world, laughingly left the city in the company of Frank Bowers, forever leaving her in the dark behind.

However, neither Frank, whose trailer she found in her usual place — in the parking lot of the Two Whales — nor anyone she knew knew about the whereabouts of the popular Blackwell Academy student. Trying to get to the truth with her fists, no matter how much Chloe herself wanted to, was not an option — she was not in the mood for an arrest — she had to beat the thresholds at the Amber family home.

So a year passed in anticipation of the unknown.

And then Eva appeared in her life. Like a glimmer of light in the dark, she suddenly burst into her life, hitting Nathan Prescott when he slipped something into Price's drink. From that night on, they began to spend time together — hanging out at the dump, spending evenings at the lighthouse, going to parties to steal drinks and snacks.
