• APPEARANCE: Chizuru has waist-length chestnut-brown hair, with a notable braid tied into a small ponytail hanging on the back (though it can appear to be on the left or right in most artwork) and light brown eyes.

Chizuru is a dazzling and stunning beauty that turns heads wherever she goes. She's described to have a large bosom, long slender legs, and almost ideal proportions.[6][7][8] She is athletic and has pride in her fitness and appearance.[9] In addition, she has an eye for fashion, which is reportedly inherited from her mother Kasumi Ichinose.[10]

When posing as a diligent student, she wears glasses, a butterfly accessory and she sports double braided hair. In stark contrast to her activities off-campus, she dresses in an unassuming manner that hides her features, leaving her unnoticeable to those who do not know her real identity. It is later revealed that she does have sight trouble and she uses a pair of contact lenses when she is not going out with her friends.

• PERSONALITY: At first glance, Chizuru comes across as very kind and considerate, which positively surprises anyone who considers renting, and makes them give high ratings to her. While her kindness is genuine, she is still prideful of her reputation, and can be a little irritable and brash when her ratings go down. She shows this side of her to people she dislikes or has to put up with, such as Kazuya Kinoshita.

Chizuru is described to be an "iron lady," who has surrounded herself with an emotional wall that is almost impenetrable. Although she has friends before meeting Kazuya, and at first glance she easily comes across as outgoing and cheerful, she kept her personal life at a distance. She is hard to read and many people misinterpret this as her being cold and even callous. Her defense mechanism is so strong, even she fails to understand her own emotions.

Underneath all her pragmatic and professional attitude, though, Chizuru is a genuinely kind-hearted person. She goes out of her way to assist Kazuya at great risk of her profession. Her kindness is also seen when she becomes friends with Sumi, and she helps her becoming better at her job. Although she is prideful of her appearance and profession, Mini Yaemori notes that while Chizuru is popular and very beautiful, she is not an attention seeker like most good-looking people she knows.[11]

Though she is half responsible for continuing their false relationship, she is irritated when Kazuya needs her to be portrayed as his girlfriend at his convenience. Even though Kazuya has repeatedly tried to confess and end their rental relationship, circumstances involving their grandmothers - as well as Chizuru's compassionate nature - keep them attached to each other.

During her junior high school years, Chizuru was a crybaby, a little apathetic and somewhat rambunctious, often fighting with boys who bullied her for having no parents. However, after watching films starring her grandma, as well as encouragement from her grandpa, she gained the inspiration to pursue acting.

SpoilerAlert Warning! Spoilers! This article contains details about future plot lines described in the manga, but not in anime yet. Be careful. According to Chizuru's grandmother, Sayuri Ichinose, she used to be a 'clingy crybaby', something that she has overcome over the years. Still, there is a chance that she just hides it with her perfect facade around others. When Sayuri is seemingly close to her end, Chizuru shows more of her weak side, and she refuses to accept a 'sad truth' after Kazuya had decided to give up on keeping the lie as he felt guilty to keep lying to a dying person. The trauma of the sad truth is from how sad she was during her spirit to chase on her dream and wishing her grandpa to see her before his death from the accident.

• RELATIONSHIPS:

• Kazuya Kinoshita: Chizuru first met Kazuya after he scheduled a rental date with her. At first, she only ever saw him as a customer and gave him the same treatment as all her other customers, researching what to do pertaining to a given scenario. Things went as usual when she was acting like a normal girlfriend for him until he suddenly exuded a public tantrum. She dragged Kazuya to a secluded area and gave him a sermon about how their relationship is purely superficial and gives him the choice if he wants to continue with it or not. After having to follow him to the hospital where his ill grandmother resides, she found out that her own grandmother was there too; making them have to lie about being in a relationship, due to seeing them in a precarious situation.

Despite declaring numerous times that they would inform their grandmothers of their "break up", the two continue to find themselves in situations that require them to continue "dating". At first, Chizuru is greatly annoyed by Kazuya's cowardice, stubbornness and unwillingness to tell his grandmother of their fake relationship. She tries several times to cut contact with him, though the two continuously bump into each other out of pure circumstance. She demands that if Kazuya is to keep renting her, that he not talk to her at all outside of their "dates", and that he avoid all contact with her in general.

Her feelings for Kazuya begin to change during the beach trip. Having found herself stuck playing Kazuya's girlfriend in front of his friends once again, she is shocked when Kazuya announces that he and her are breaking up, finally taking a step towards ending the fake relationship. After Kazuya and his friend, Kibe, get into a fist-fight over the decision, Chizuru later commends Kazuya for stepping up and being brave. Later, Chizuru has a conversation with Kibe. Still unaware that she is only a rental, Kibe tells Chizuru old stories about Kazuya in an effort to get the two back together, and that when Kazuya is passionate about something, he will nurture it and give his upmost effort. After, Chizuru goes on a ferry ride with Kazuya. Stressed, exhausted, and suffering from sea sickness, Chizuru falls overboard and almost drowns until Kazuya dives off the ferry and saves her. After washing up on shore, Chizuru gives an unconscious Kazuya CPR and revives him, and is visibly elated. Genuinely touched by Kazuya's effort to save her life, Chizuru decides to continue being his rental girlfriend for as long as he needs.

They continue to "date" for some time, with Chizuru gradually becoming more tolerant and less irritated by Kazuya. Eventually, Chizuru trusts Kazuya to the point of asking him to help train her friend Sumi, another rental girlfriend. At one point, she bluntly asked Kazuya if he liked her, something he nervously denied.

This goes on until Chizuru finds out that her grandmother does not have much longer to live, and falls into despair until Kazuya offers to help in any way he can; wanting to support her in any means possible. When he approaches her with the idea of making a movie for her grandmother, she is overjoyed and touched by his efforts, changing her sad demeanor around other people to a happier one. When Kazuya expresses doubts about being baggage for her, she tells him she has not ever regretted meeting him.

As time goes on, she seems to have developed genuine romantic feelings for him, as she blushes more in Kazuya's presence and begins to tease him when the two of them meet outside of her work, and is shown to hold jealousy during his interactions with Ruka. Her trust in Kazuya deepens as she even asks to stay at his apartment when she had been locked out of her own. At one point, she even makes him food after noticing Kazuya had been starving himself while working on producing her film. She even begins to hang out with him outside of their rental dates, going to a batting cage together.

Later, it is evident that she has a desire to be closer to Kazuya, privately wishing to legitimately call him by his given name without any honorifics and is confused regarding how to process her feelings. Although she shrugs off Ruka using Kazuya's name repeatedly, once out of sight, Chizuru quietly whispers it. Her fondness for Kazuya is noticed by her grandmother, who realizes that Chizuru might be falling in love with him, although in denial.

Following her grandmother's death, Chizuru and Kazuya did not speak. However he did eventually rent her again. At one point, he invited her to lunch. She got drunk and asked him if he liked her. Before he could say the answer he was being interrupted.

SpoilerAlert Warning! Spoilers! This article contains details about future plot lines described in the manga, but not in anime yet. Be careful. Later she invited him to a party, after which he decided to tell her. Chizuru ultimately kissed Kazuya in front of everyone present in order prove that they're really dating for real even doing so twice to make it clear when Mami make everyone doubt that she was pretending to kiss Kazuya.

Following the kiss, she becomes confused as to what her exact feelings for Kazuya are. She is unsure what "love" even is, yet her heart flutters and begins blushing every time she thinks of Kazuya or speaks with him. After their apartment complex was destroyed, they decide to move into Chizuru's old house together alongside Yaemori. Her decision to live together in the same place as Kazuya shows that she has completely in him. This also marks a turning point in their relationship, as the "rental girlfriend" service is no longer in use, so they get to see completely different sides of each other. They spend time together at events, they volunteer at a daycare together where Chizuru notice how good Kazuya is with kids, and they even play a game where Chizuru ends up saying an extravagant wedding as her idea of a 100/100 wedding. After she notices Kazuya becoming worried that she couldn't give him something so expensive, she feels it is very necessary to privately tell him she'd be okay with any wedding as long as it's with the person she's in love with. After Kazuya asks her to go on a real date with him she happily accepts and marks the date in her calendar, which she often stares at in anticipation. She even spends several days picking out the perfect clothes and getting a makeover to look her best for the date.

While on their date she asks Kazuya questions about their potential future together, such as how many kids he wants, what is considered cheating, or even why he can say he loves her. They even take a couple's compatibility test and get a perfect score. After the date she confesses to Kazuya that she's never even cried one time since he moved in and that she had fallen in love with him. However, feeling pressured to accept the wedding ring and feeling guilty about lying she tells him that she is not ready for a relationship yet. Despite this fact, on the way home as Kazuya is carrying Chizuru on his back her internal monologue reveals that this was a moment she'd never forget for the rest of her life because whenever she's with Kazuya she feels like she's inside of a fairy tale dream. The next day as Kazuya begins to leave to move into his new apartment she quickly dashes into his taxi car to kiss him on the lips, this time completely on her own accord, before running away and hiding because her heart was beating uncontrollably and she couldn't stop blushing.

Following this moment she decides she needs to finally face Kazuya and her feelings head on and she tells Yaemori that July 11th after her big play will be when she's ready to have a relationship. When Kazuya calls her to ask her out on a second real date for July 11th she accepts the invitation before telling him she's looking forward to it and then she starts smiling uncontrollably as she walks away.
