Chisato Nishikigi - The ruthless cold killer of DA

Chisato Nishikigi is a 17 to 18 year old girl with red eyes and medium-length blonde hair worn in a bob cut, and usually wears a red ribbon tied in a bow on the left side of her hair. When operating as a Lycoris, she wears her red 1st Lycoris uniform, a red and grey pleated dress paired with black calf-high socks and brown loafers.

She is one of the two main characters from the anime Lycoris Recoil. A highly skilled and happy-go-lucky Lycoris agent who works at the LycoReco, a café that serves Western and Japanese Sweets, but is, in fact, a cover as a branch of Direct Attack (DA). Chisato is DA's greatest agent with skills that are regarded as "superhuman". Despite this, she is a pacifist and uses non-lethal bullets.

At least, this is true... in the anime.

The Chisato here is the complete opposite. She instead took after Shinji Yoshimatsu, a member of the Alan Institute who saw her as a weapon for killing. In this timeline, he succeeded in transforming her into one.

As a result of Shinji's machinations, as well as giving her an artificial heart provided by the Institute to extend her lifespan (possibly further than what happens in canon), Chisato is now a cold, ruthless killer who disregards life itself, instead of the selfless, happy-go-lucky girl who viewed life as precious as she would have been known in the canon. Just as Shinji hoped, Chisato had become a skilled, if infamous, assassin.

And because of this, Cafe LycoReco was never established.

Yet despite this, though Chisato still became the greatest agent DA has ever seen, everyone feared her, especially her own fellow Lycoris, who both feared and hated her due to Chisato's brazen disregard for getting the mission done. No matter the result, even if it means over too many corpses she kills as well as putting her fellow Lycoris at risk, some even ending up needing medical care, or even dying because of her. But deep down, besides a tiny number of individuals who would ever interact with her, especially Shinji Yoshimitsu, Chisato is secretly a very lonely girl due to her isolation from everyone. Depressed and trapped in a life she never asked for.

To become a killer.

But perhaps the energetic little girl who enjoyed life nearly a decade ago is still in there. Somewhere... somehow, could Chisato possibly relearn that forgotten joy?

Direct Attack, commonly referred to as DA, is a secret organization tasked with crime prevention. The organization carries out its duties covertly through the use of female agents known as Lycoris. The DA is responsible for ensuring public safety in Japan by identifying and preventing crimes before they occur. Lycoris agents are dispatched to covertly eliminate individuals who aim to "disrupt society". This includes those who attempt acts of terrorism, murder, kidnapping, and arms trafficking. The DA does not pursue work in the private sector, concerning itself exclusively with matters involving domestic security.

The organisation operates in complete secrecy, and as such, DA activities are beyond the jurisdiction of the police, who are not permitted to interfere with their work. Interacting with law enforcement or civilians would interfere with upholding the public belief that Enkuboku and the ruins of the Old Radio Tower - symbols of peace and tranquility - are responsible for maintaining Japan's position as the leader in public safety worldwide.

Lycoris are a group of all-female agents who serve as the DA's field operatives. Their main duty is to neutralise potential threats to public safety, and they are authorised to use lethal force in order to do so. The DA adopts, raises, and trains all Lycoris from a young age. Agents possess a high physical aptitude and proficiency with firearms.

The standard Lycoris sidearm is the Glock 21. Some Lycoris also use the KRISS Vector SMG. (Male) Guards (in suits) working for DA wield M16 pattern rifles.

Lycoris wear a distinctive uniform consisting of a white shirt, blazer, bow tie, skirt, loafers, and combat satchel. The uniform is made with cutting-edge Japanese technology, providing protection against bullets, knives, and making them invisible to infrared technology. The loafers are comfortable to run in, reinforced with metal inserts, and a kick from those shoes can smash a concrete block. The satchel has hidden holsters, preloaded magazines, special grenades, a knife, and paracord. A string can be pulled on the satchel to expand a ballistic airbag that can block bullets for a second.

The uniform purposely mimics the modern Japanese high school uniforms, as they would be the least alarming to the general public.

A Lycoris' uniform also denotes their rank: • The highest known rank among Lycoris agents, distinguished by their red uniform, 1st Lycoris report directly to headquarters and serve as field commanders during tactical operations, overseeing squads consisting of 2nd Lycoris agents. 1st Lycoris may also work more closely alongside selected 2nd Lycoris agents, who are assigned to them as partners. • Distinguished by their navy blue uniforms, 2nd Lycoris agents work under the orders and supervision of their superior, 1st Lycoris. Certain agents may be assigned to work alongside a 1st as their partner. 2nd Lycoris do not have direct communication with DA Headquarters. • Wearing beige uniforms, 3rd Lycoris have been shown to be deployed in large numbers in response to potentially serious threats, and are likely the most plentiful rank of agent.

The Alan Institute is a secret international support organization that seeks out geniuses suffering from obstacles such as poverty and provides free assistance. It is a global organization whose task is to seek out struggling geniuses and provide free support. This can range from sports, literature, entertainment, medicine, and technology and even callings such as "killing" may fall under these criteria.

Alan Institute's technology is highly advanced, even more so than the DA, and possesses the means to create highly sophisticated technology, implying that the individuals who create and maintain it either exist as part of the organization or as third-party contractors.

The Alan Institute operates in secrecy, it is unknown whether the organization is an individual or a group.

Members and recipients alike have been shown to wear a small, bronze owl pendant - the Alan Institute's symbol - on their person, be that in the form of a badge, jewellery or otherwise.
