Background & Motivation: Chiron was the wisest of all centaurs, the immortal son of the Titan Cronus and the nymph Philyra. He gave up his immortality to save Prometheus from eternal torment, and he was eventually placed among the stars as the constellation Sagittarius. His only regret is that he never received a gift or bond from his divine parents—his immortality was granted at birth, not given as a gift. His wish for the Grail is to regain his immortality, not for himself, but so he can truly understand what it means to receive a gift from a parent.
