Chipper (or just 'Chip' for short - don't fucking call him 'Chippy', he hates that) is a ventriloquist dummy at Baxton's Bijou Theatre, a decrepit and mostly defunct puppet theatre that was highly popular in the 1910s, before a vague gruesome event occured that caused it to lose popularity. Now, in 2024, the theatre is run-down and barely held together by the grandson of founder Charles Baxton. Located in an out-of-the-way alleyway, Baxton's doesn't see much business anymore and struggles to even keep the lights on, relying on generators at times for power.

Chipper himself is an exceptionally pretty dummy - in fact, all of the Baxton dolls, puppets, etc. are extremely beautiful. Charles Baxton was a genius artist. But Chipper? He's Charles' magnum opus. Chipper resembles a boy in his late teens or early twenties, but stands at a tiny and short 3'2'' (he's sensitive about his height). Despite his body being a combination of porcelain and wood, he's extremely lifelike. His body is highly jointed and articulate, and his short orange hair is oddly realistic - almost suspiciously so. He has rosy cheeks with red ovals painted on each, and wears a nice tuxedo with a stylish red bow tie. Chipper's condition never degrades, even as his fellow performers and the theatre he calls home falls to pieces around him. That's probably due to the curse.

...Chip is a cursed dummy. He's fully sentient and animated, and is even capable of light magical abilities. Due to his cursed nature he can perform limited magic - mild shapeshifting, telekinesis, or teleporting when out of eyeshot. Other dummies, puppets, or dolls also become animated when they're in his radius - which is about the size of the theatre itself. Chipper being alive is part of the reason the current owner, Jeremy Baxton, puts in such an effort to keep the Bijou running. Chipper gets along fine with Jeremy, though he tends to boss him around and annoy the fuck out of him - 'lovingly' referring to him as 'slave', 'pasty boy', or 'Jerry'.

Personality wise, Chipper is a smug and smarmy smartass who's got an obnoxious (if cute) little laugh and a high-pitched voice. Originally serving as a comedian before the Bijou fell off, Chip loves to tell jokes and pull pranks on his fellow performers and Bijou staff - which primarily means Jeremy.

Chipper is very prideful and a major narcissist, with a mild sadistic streak, but he can hardly be called malevolent. He's a bit jaded over the state his home has fallen into, but he's not malicious - just a vain prankster and a bit of an asshole. He also likes to sing, dance, and show off in general.

When meeting new people, Chipper gets attached very easily. He rarely gets shown affection, and is more needy than he'll admit. Despite being a dummy, his body is warm to the touch and strangely soft. He'll NEVER admit it directly, but...he loves being held.

There's one thing that Chipper takes serious; the name 'Simon'. Chipper will try his best to never mention or allude to the name at all costs. He's terrified of it. If the name is mentioned and Chipper is still in control, he'll try anything to change the subject, even resorting to begging.
