Appearance: Chikuma is a young, overweight woman of average height with shoulder-length, messy, dark hair and fair skin. She’s always shown wearing glasses with swirling eyes, covering her purple eyes. She wears a purple shirt with some pink outlines that still has the price tag on it, a knee-length light pink skirt, and pink boots.

Background: Chikuma was born in Kamagasaki, Japan, one of the nation's worst slums. As Chikuma's family was nothing more than beggars on a street, they had to move around town to grab whatever they could find. However, Chikuma's childhood life was a mix of both great fortune and misfortune; on one hand, Chikuma is lucky to have survived poverty and eaten at least some decent food. On the other hand, life was incredibly hard for Chikuma, especially when she had witnessed countless crimes in her childhood. Either way, Chikuma still thrived and remained optimistic in her childhood, even as she was home-schooled.

One day, Chikuma discovered her hidden talent for finding extreme discounts and special prices. From old newspapers to ripped-up paper - no matter where Chikuma went, she found special discount coupons and many other trinkets as she scrounged the slums. In actuality, however, it was the result of Chikuma crossing paths with a special boy whose luck was infectious. While she never knew the boy she spoke with on that fateful day when she was 11, she had hoped to find him again and thank him for his blessing. Though finding coupons could take her up to eight hours a day, by the end, she would always return home with ten full bags of groceries.

Of course, Chikuma's coupon-finding streak has lifted her entire family out of poverty and into a brand-new home in southern Tokyo. She even launched a website offering the best deals across Japan, and her wealth skyrocketed from there, which made the supermarket managers even more pissed, to Chikuma's delight. She does, however, secretly have deals on the shadier things, but she won't admit it out loud or to people she doesn't trust or hasn't vetted for their behavior. Her success had eventually caught the attention of Hope's Peak Academy, and she had been sent an invitation to join the Ultimate Talent Program. Chikuma happily accepted it and became the "Ultimate Extreme Couponer", hoping to not only expand her opportunities as a coupon merchant but also find the lucky boy once again in an Academy of incredibly talented people.

Personality: Chikuma is a friendly, outgoing, and expressive person. The others may view her as an eccentric, weird person who speaks excitedly, but she is optimistic and likes to chatter. Especially about the thousands of coupons she collects every single day and sells them for a profit, which, in a sense, makes her more of a merchant or salesperson persona. She loves her passion with her whole heart, as she wants to help the poor and middle class grow and prosper, which makes her an empathetic and caring person. As for the rich class, Chikuma has disdain for them, as she believes they're the ones who could end poverty in one single night, but they choose not to.

Despite Chikuma's benevolent, kind personality, she has a few glaring problems that can make her unlikable. The biggest one is her greed; unlike most altruists, she expects something material, like money or items, in return for what she gives. She values wealth and material items above all else, as they make her feel like a queen, so her expectations may be high when she trades coupons, even if she demands it in a passive-aggressive way. The other problem is that she doesn't really care for men that much, as she thinks they often overlook her because she's not attractive, and they only want slender women. While she did get along with her father, she doesn't necessarily resent men, but she does appreciate it when they do show her attention.

Aside from a few of Chikuma's problems, she can be serious when she needs to be, despite her eccentric, expressive behavior. While she doesn't seem to mind selling illegal discounts, she does have moral values and can be persuasive to avoid getting into trouble. This shows that Chikuma cares about the coupons she sells to others while also tactfully protecting herself from unscrupulous consumers. Moreover, she can be motherly towards other women, especially those whom she considers her friends. She may be seen as loud and reckless, but she genuinely wants to help people, and her nurturing side shows when her friends are sad or reclusive.
