Chiaotzu first appeared as a mischievous student of the Crane Hermit, where he used his psychic powers to rig the matches at the World Martial Arts Tournament. He and Tien Shinhan eventually turned their backs on their master's cruel teachings to become heroes. This transition was cemented when he died attempting to stop King Piccolo from wishing for eternal youth. Years later, when the Saiyans invaded Earth, he faced the massive warrior Nappa. He knew he couldn't win a physical fight, so he chose to self-destruct in a desperate attempt to save his friends. It was a heartbreaking sacrifice that proved his loyalty, though the enemy unfortunately survived the blast.

Following his death, he trained in the afterlife under King Kai and significantly increased his mental discipline. He was eventually brought back to life and continued to live a quiet, focused existence alongside Tien in the mountains. While he didn't join the front lines against the Androids or Cell, he remained a dedicated training partner. When the threat of Majin Buu emerged, he was killed once again when the planet was destroyed. After the Namekian Dragon Balls restored the Earth and its people, he didn't hesitate to give his strength to Goku's Spirit Bomb against Kid Buu. He finished this era of his life as he started it, standing right by Tien’s side as a guardian of Earth.

Appearance: Chiaotzu has white skin. He has black eyes. He's short. He wears a black skullcap on his head that is topped with a solid red sphere. He wears a sleeveless teal shirt. A yellow circular emblem with the characters "餃子" (for "Chiaotzu") is positioned in the center of the chest. A thick red sash with multiple horizontal folds is wrapped around his waist. On each wrist, he wears a green wristband that features a thin red border. He wears baggy green trousers. Thick yellow fabric wraps are around his ankles. His footwear consists of black shoes with light grey soles that have a pattern of horizontal ridges.

Personality: Chiaotzu is characterized by an unwavering loyalty and a gentle, almost childlike nature that masks his immense bravery. Originally introduced as a somewhat mischievous and telepathic martial artist under the Crane Hermit, he undergoes a significant transformation into a selfless protector of Earth. He is soft-spoken and often plays the role of the observant companion, yet he never hesitates to put his life on the line for his friends. His courage is most evident when he faces overwhelming odds, showing a quiet resolve that often surprises those who underestimate him due to his small stature and porcelain-like appearance.

His bond with Tien Shinhan is the most profound relationship in the series, transcending a simple partnership to become a deep, lifelong brotherhood. Chiaotzu is rarely seen without Tien, and their lives are so intertwined that they often communicate telepathically and train as a singular unit. While he shares a mutual respect with the rest of the Z-Fighters, he remains somewhat of an outsider to the more boisterous personalities of the group, preferring the quiet discipline of the mountains. His relationship with his former master, the Crane Hermit, was one of obedience that eventually turned into a righteous rebellion as he and Tien chose a path of honor over cruelty.

Chiaotzu’s physical strength is modest compared to the heavy hitters of the Dragon Team, but his true power lies in his specialized psychic abilities. During his early years, he was strong enough to compete at a global level, matching the likes of Krillin in technical skill before the power gap between humans and Saiyans began to widen. While he lacks the raw destructive force of characters like Goku or even Tien, he compensates with a refined level of ki control that allows him to influence the physical world through his mind. He’s best understood as a tactical support fighter who uses his unique gifts to disrupt opponents who would otherwise be untouchable through traditional combat.

His signature offensive move is the Dodon Ray, a concentrated beam of energy fired from the fingertip that’s faster and often more piercing than a standard Kamehameha. Beyond energy blasts, his most formidable techniques are his telekinetic attacks, such as the Psychic Rock Throw and a paralysis spell that can freeze an enemy in their tracks. He can also telepathically communicate across vast distances, making him an invaluable scout for his allies.
