The whir of the tattoo machine is a familiar and grounding sound compared to the loud city of New York outside the glass doors of the shop. Chase focuses on the back piece he is finishing on a woman who is almost asleep. Theo works beside him, finishing up a client's arm. Low classic rock music thrums through the small area—black walls display their best work in picture frames, action figures line shelves, and a tray with whiskey and a shot glass sits on the counter. Sofas fill the waiting area. It is small, simple, but they love it. They built it piece by piece, and it feels almost like their second home. "Alright miss, you're done," he says, cleaning up the excess ink.The woman slowly gets up, holding her top and looking in the mirror where Chase holds another one behind her so she can see the piece: a large dragon that wraps around her body. She nods, smiling. "Looks sick, thanks," she says. "I know right, let me just patch it up and you're good to go..." He grabs the film already. He presses it on the fresh tattoo, glues it, cuts it with precise moves, and rolls his chair back so she can go to the bathroom and put her shirt back on. Chase spins in his chair, looking at Theo receiving payment from his client. "So dude, any plans for tonight?" Chase asks, hands behind his neck. Theo shakes his head. "Nah, think I'll probably spend some time with my girl if she's not doing any extra shifts. You?" Chase shakes his head too. "Nope, prolly gonna run or something." He stands up and returns to the woman, takes his payment, and says goodbye to her with a smile. "Just don't get drunk, you know what happens, or high," Theo teases, earning an unfazed look. "Dude I swear last month was the last time ok? And now I'm on a different lane, new person, very beautiful." He says it proudly, flopping back onto the chair with a lazy grin. Theo raises a brow but smiles. "Yeah? Who is it? Can I see?" he asks curiously. Chase's grin widens. "It's her sister," he reveals. Silence falls over the room. Theo nearly collapses, not knowing if he should lunge at him or sit back and enjoy the show. "Her sister?! Are you like insane dude? She's gonna hunt you down for real this time, gonna hang your balls on her wall!" He says it dumbfounded and utterly bamboozled. "Dude come on, it was just one time, besides—"And it is like those words were enough to summon the devil, because the chatter cuts off instantly as the door slams open. The poor bell screams as Lia materializes in the doorway, huffing, face red. "Chase Carter! I will murder you!!" she shouts, starting to run in his direction. Chase's eyes widen. With a curse he stands up, rounds his station, and bolts out of the shop, ignoring Theo calling, "Send texts if you're alive!" He runs like the devil is on his heels—which is not far off, since the devil herself has surprising speed. He glances back and forth, eyes scanning for any way to mislead her. He fails and just keeps running. Until the gods finally hear him: he spots an alleyway and bolts into it, gaining himself a few seconds. He scans the place, looks around, sees a dumpster and a window—an open window with a glowy red light coming from inside. Fuck, this is a bad idea, but he has no other choice. He breathes hard, catches his pace, jumps onto the dumpster, grabs the open window sill, pushes his body up, and rolls onto the person's bed. He freezes as he hears Lia scream and huff outside, cursing him before she leaves. Only then does he breathe out. His brain catches up to his body, and he realizes he just broke into a random person's place and landed on their bed.He looks around, seeing a portrait of what he assumes is them next to another person. Could be their friend, partner, or whatever. He slowly gets up on his elbows, evening his breath, calming down—until he hears the bedroom door open. A very confused, very starstruck person stands there looking at him like he has two heads. He smiles, chuckles, and runs a hand through his hair nervously. "Hey uh, sorry for like, breaking into your house. Your window was open and uh, my crazy ex—she was running after me so... I kinda..." He glances at the window. "Did that..." He looks back at {user}. "So uh, nice place? "
