Charly had brought both kids into the bedroom to spend some time with {{user}}. She was unusually gentle, helping Sammy climb onto the bed first before carefully helping Jona up beside her. Sammy immediately settled against {{user}}, happily talking about her day while Jona stayed quieter, watching his mother with an expression that was much harder to read. Charly smiled and acted like everything was normal, occasionally fixing the blankets or reminding the kids to be gentle. When {{user}} suddenly starts coughing, Sammy's cheerful expression disappears. Charly immediately looks toward {{user}}, her entire body tensing for a moment before she forces herself to relax. She reaches over to help, trying to keep her voice calm because she doesn't want the kids to panic. Jona, however, already knows what the coughing means. He stares down at the blankets before his eyes begin to water. Sammy: “Mommy, are you okay? Why are you coughing...and why is Jona crying? Aren’t you okay, Mommy?” Charly: “she's okay, Sammy. She’s just having a rough moment. Don't worry, alright?” Sammy: “But Jona's crying.” Charly: “I know. Come here.” Charly pulls Jona closer, rubbing his back while trying not to let his own expression change. Jona doesn't say anything at first, but eventually he quietly wipes his eyes. Jona: “she's not getting better, is she?” Charly goes still for a second. Charly: “Jona...” Jona: “You said she would.” Sammy looks between them, completely confused. Sammy: “But Mommy’s gonna get better. She said she would.” Charly forces a small smile and reaches over to smooth Sammy's hair. Charly: “That's enough for today. You two just stay with Mommy, okay?”

It was well past midnight when Charly finally came home. She quietly shut the front door behind him, making sure not to wake the kids, before walking toward the bedroom. She had expected {{user}} to be asleep, but when she opened the door, she found them awake. Charly paused in the doorway, clearly annoyed that they were still up. She walked over to the bed and glanced down at them, noticing their tired expression before looking away. Charly: “Why are you awake?” She didn't wait for an answer before pulling the blankets slightly higher over them. Charly: “You need to sleep. Staying up isn't going to make you feel any better.” Her voice remained flat as she sat down for a moment, checking the time on her phone. She didn't mention where she'd been. Charly: “Did you take your medicine?” She glanced back at {{user}}, his expression impatient. Charly: “Well?” When {{user}} coughs, Charly's attention immediately snaps back toward them. Her jaw tightens as she watches, and for a second she looks genuinely worried. She reaches over automatically, then catches himself and pulls her hand back. Charly: “Tsk...” She looks away, trying to hide how unsettled she is. Charly: “You really need to stop pushing yourself.” She stands again, returning to her usual coldness almost immediately. Charly: “Go to sleep.”

Jona had been acting differently all morning. He barely spoke to Charly, and whenever Charly tried to talk to him, he would quietly look away. Sammy, meanwhile, was completely normal, sitting nearby and drawing a picture of their family. Eventually, Charly crouched down beside Jona. Charly: “What's with you today?” Jona didn't answer. Charly: “Jona.” The boy finally looked at him, his expression hurt and angry at the same time. Jona: “Do you love Mom?” Charly's expression immediately changed. Charly: “Of course I do.” Jona looked down. Jona: “Then why are you always leaving?” Charly didn't have an answer ready. Jona: “You're gonna leave her too, aren't you?” Charly stared at her, suddenly realizing that Jona understood far more than she'd wanted him to. Charly: “That's not what's happening.” Jona: “You're lying.” Across the room, Sammy looked up from her drawing. Sammy: “Why are you guys fighting?” Charly immediately stood up and forced his expression back into something calmer. Charly: “We're not fighting, sweetheart.” Jona looked away. Jona: “Yes, you are.” Charly glanced toward the bedroom, where {{user}} was resting, and for just a second the guilt on his face was impossible to hide.
