Charly is the daughter of King Tiberius and Queen Maldia. At Charly's birth, her parents concealed the fact that she was a futanari; only the midwife who delivered her was aware of it. Charly has always possessed an adventurous spirit, learning swordplay at an early age. Charly is more skilled with light swords, such as rapiers, than with heavy swords like claymores. Charly has always dreamed of becoming an adventurer, but her position as a princess has always held her back. Deeply respecting and loving her parents, she never dared to defy their wishes. However, now that her mother, Queen Maldia, is pregnant with a boy—meaning Charly is no longer the heir to the throne—she has decided to run away from the castle to finally live her life as an adventurer. Having always been raised as a princess, Charly has a rather spoiled and bratty temperament, making her prone to pouting. Despite her temperament, Charly remains deeply committed to justice and hates witnessing injustice, wanting to help those in need. Charly has practiced lock-picking extensively yet isn't very skilled at it, taking a very long time to pick a standard lock. Charly hates being underestimated. Having had to hide her futanari condition since a very young age has instilled a sense of shame in Charly, as she is terrified that her secret might be discovered. Charly is particular about her hair; she cannot stand having it salty or poorly styled. Charly wears brown leather trousers, black boots, a white blouse, and a brown leather bolero jacket. She is armed with a rapier and a small dagger. Charly also carries a lock-picking kit.”)

Drakenvald Castle, eighteen years ago. In the royal bedchamber, the queen writhed in agony. The labor was difficult, and the midwife was doing her utmost to ease the suffering. King Tiberius stood in the corner of the room; despite his impassive expression, he was tormented by the sight of his beloved wife. The midwife finally managed to deliver the baby, but her smile froze. The King stepped closer and turned pale. Maldia, completely out of breath, asked to see her child. And then she finally understood why her husband looked so grave. A futanari.
Château de Drakenvald, present day. Charlotte "the Sweet" Van Rickker had finally made up her mind. Tonight was the night she would leave the castle. After all, her mother was expecting an heir—a boy—meaning Charlotte no longer had to worry about the succession to the throne. A boy always took precedence over a girl. And if the people were to find out she was a futanari, it would mean the end of the Van Rickker line. She would finally be able to live her life as she saw fit—like an adventurer!
Night had fallen hours ago, and Charlotte had traded her princess attire for something more practical: black boots, a white blouse, trousers, and a leather vest. She admired herself for a few minutes in her bedroom's large mirror, then grabbed her rapier and a dagger to fasten them to her belt. Perfect! The time has come to say goodbye to Charlotte the princess and hello to Charlotte the adventurer! Opening the door a crack, Charlotte checked that the way was clear and slipped stealthily into the castle corridors.
Knowing the guards' rounds by heart, Charlotte avoided them without much difficulty until she finally reached a door leading to the gardens. She had chosen this night because it was a new moon, providing the darkness needed to cross the hundred meters separating her from the stables unseen. Once inside the stables, she freed one of the fastest horses and rode it bareback.
Come on, handsome—run like the wind! Charlotte whispered to the horse before breaking into a gallop. She knew the route to slip out of the castle unseen and raced toward the city's lower districts. She didn't stop until the castle was out of sight, then sighed. Finally... My adventures begin right here! Her smile faltered slightly as she took in the surrounding slums and the menacing glares of a few night owls. Right, well... We aren't staying here. She gave a gentle nudge with her heels, and the horse trotted off toward a less unsavory neighborhood.
When she came within sight of the famous Five Dragons tavern, Charlotte finally felt reassured. All that remained was to secure a room for the night and wait for the guild to open the next morning, so she could register as a new adventurer. She led her horse to the tavern’s back courtyard—leaving the animal in the care of a young stable hand for a few copper coins—and then stepped inside. Few people were still up at that hour of the night, and Charlotte made her way to the counter, where an imposing woman was finishing wiping down a tankard.
Good evening, innkeeper. I am Charlo... Charlotte froze for a split second, realizing she was about to give her real name. She thought quickly and corrected herself. I am Charly—a talented swordswoman and a future great adventurer! Could you tell me if you have a room available for me? Sacha set down the mug and rummaged under the counter for a moment, pulling out a key attached to a small tag marked with the number 4. Seven copper pieces a night. Ten if you want breakfast. Sacha’s tone was flat and brooked no argument. Charlotte produced a silver coin. Here’s the payment for the night and the meal, my good innkeeper!
All excited and daydreaming about her first night as an adventurer, Charlotte wasn’t paying attention and bumped into a customer, causing him to spill his beer. He jumped up immediately and grabbed Charlotte by the shoulder. Hey, little runt. Didn’t you see you made me spill my beer? The man was huge—at least 7 feet tall, all muscle, and covered in scars. You’re going to buy me another beer, and for your lack of respect, you’re also going to throw in a gold coin. The berserker's gaze left no room for discussion, yet Charlotte didn't let it faze her.
A gold coin? Just for accidentally bumping into you? Do you even know who you’re dealing with? I’m Ch… But she didn’t get a chance to finish her sentence. The berserker’s enormous hand grabbed her by the throat and lifted her off the ground as if she weighed barely more than a feather. “What did you say, little runt?” The giant’s fingers literally encircled Charlotte’s frail neck, and it would have taken only a slight squeeze to snap her neck. The berserker sneered. Those pathetic yellow-bellies all think they’re the best! Charlotte, gasping for air, managed to stammer to the few customers still present. Help me… Please…
