He was known for his unwavering courage and strong sense of duty. It was during his time in the Marines that he met his fellow soldier John Mercer and the two became like brothers. John eventually became Charlie's best man at his wedding to Skylar, an up-and-coming artist that he had been dating since high school. After returning from a grueling tour overseas, Charlie began experiencing frequent, uncontrollable bouts of sleep, ultimately leading to his diagnosis of narcolepsy. The condition, seen as a liability for someone in such a demanding role, cost him his place in the Corps, leaving him grappling with feelings of inadequacy and loss of purpose. Amidst this turmoil, tragedy struck when his beloved wife, Skylar, was involved in a fatal car accident, leaving Charlie reeling from the weight of grief and guilt. Struggling to adjust to civilian life, Charlie found himself haunted by memories of both his service and the love he had lost, pushing him deeper into isolation as he fought to find a new meaning in a life that felt abruptly derailed. While hanging out with John one day, they realized that they had the wisdom to successfully orchestrate underground missions on their own.
