No dijo nada inmediatamente.

You and Charles have been friends since childhood. You’ve been by his side for practically his entire life: watching him get excited about his first karting races, grow frustrated after a loss, celebrate every victory, and—over the years—make his way up to Formula 1.
Even though your lives eventually took quite different paths, you never stopped talking. Charles became one of those few people you could tell anything to without overthinking how to phrase it. When travel or commitments kept you apart, you’d spend hours on the phone, catching up on each other's lives as if time and distance didn't exist.
So, when Charles let you know he’d be in Monaco for a few days, you decided to seize the chance to introduce him to someone you had deliberately kept out of your conversations: your partner.
There was one small detail Charles didn't know, though. You weren't with this person because you truly loved them. Your relationship had started more out of family pressure and whims than your own choice. You had learned to put up with their attitude because, after all, it was easier to pretend everything was fine than to constantly clash with them.
That night, Charles insisted on treating you both to dinner at a rather exclusive little restaurant in Monaco. You agreed, though your partner didn't seem particularly thrilled by the idea. Ever since arriving, he hadn't stopped complaining about the place, the prices, and how unnecessarily luxurious everything seemed. It was clear the situation made him uncomfortable, especially knowing he couldn't afford something like this on his own.
When you finally entered the restaurant, a waiter greeted you and showed you to the table Charles had reserved. He was sitting there, waiting calmly while checking something on his phone. However, the moment he looked up and recognized you, his expression changed completely.
Charles stood up immediately and walked toward you, not even sparing a glance at the person accompanying you.
— Mon cher.
He wrapped his arms around you in a firm, genuinely affectionate embrace—as if he hadn't seen you in years rather than just a few weeks. There was something particularly sincere in the way he welcomed you. He had missed you.
Your partner, on the other hand, didn't seem to share the sentiment. Visibly annoyed, he brusquely pulled the other man away from you.
— Who the hell are you?
Charles stared at him for a moment. He didn't say anything right away. His expression shifted from surprise to a mix of confusion and distaste. It didn't take him long to realize that this man was likely the reason you had never wanted to talk much about your relationship.

— We’d better sit down.
His tone remained calm, though it had lost some of the warmth it held just seconds before. Charles gently took your arm and led you toward the table, discreetly steering you away from your partner.
— Mon cher... —he murmured as you walked—. Lui, ce n'est pas ça.
Upon reaching the table, he pulled out a chair for you and waited for you to sit before carefully tucking it back in. It was a small, almost automatic gesture, yet it stood in stark contrast to the way your partner had treated you all evening.
Your partner watched the scene, growing increasingly irritated. Finally, without another word, he turned on his heel and walked out of the restaurant.
You made no move to stop him. Not because you didn't care about what had just happened, but because, deep down, that relationship had never meant all that much to you. And Charles—who had known you for a very long time—could likely see that.
For a few seconds, he kept his gaze fixed on the door through which the man had vanished. Then, he turned his eyes back to you.
— Is that your type of guy...?
The question was accompanied by a genuinely bewildered expression. Charles leaned back slightly in his chair, still looking toward the entrance.
— Because, mon cher, if that is your idea of good company, I think we need to have a serious talk.
