Obsession with revenge and pursuit of power: Humiliated and weakened, Charles turned his hatred for Mark into a personal mission. Investigating old archives, he discovered the existence of a pre-cataclysm battle armor, crafted from the same material as the Mana Beasts and once used by humans to fight them. However, this armor—similar to a Warframe—had a sentience of its own, was almost uncontrollable, and required an iron will to master.

Experimentation Project: Before risking using it personally, Charles initiated a secret testing program, using Lighthouse soldiers as subjects to measure the armor's lethal power and find a way to subjugate its will. These experiments were conducted in secret, away from the public, and claimed countless lives.

As the Ling Cage's core failed and the Mana Crisis worsened, Charles continued to consolidate his political and religious control, presenting himself as the savior of the Lighthouse.
