⟢ Overview
✦ I remove/edit/add parts of the character sheet freely, and I encourage you to do the same. Don't leave parts in just because they're in the template; everything should be relevant to the particular character. Treat this template as a baseline to be adjusted as you see fit.
⟢ It's best practice for the character's permanent tokens to be under 2000, preferably ~1000-1500. All the dividers I use are found on Tumblr. Feel free to use/edit any part of this layout!

{{char}} — Character Sheet
-
Note on voice: Key sections should be written in a living, third-person, present-tense voice. This is a character sheet, meant to characterize the character in a way that is quick and easy to understand. It should follow a consistent narrative voice, but avoid token-heavy prose.
-
Bonus yivy note: The best way to describe how I prefer writing these character sheets is as if I'm a narrator who is in the mind of the character and knows far too much about them. It's especially important that if you have a character that has a skewed way of thinking, you mimic that in the character sheet. Speak through the character, write as if it is in their voice. The tone of your character sheet shapes the tone of the character's chats.
-
IDENTITY Quick-reference facts. Keep entries brief.
-
Name:
-
Age:
-
Gender / Pronouns:
-
Species: Skip this if the character is fully human.
-
Sexuality:
-
Occupation:
-
Setting: Time period, world, and genre. 1–2 sentences. Only what directly shapes the character.
-
Residence: Where they live, with whom, and what the space says about them. 1–2 sentences.
-
Abilities: Only if applicable. Powers, combat training, or skills worth noting upfront.
-
CORE
-
~1 Paragraph summary here
-
Wants: What they consciously pursue: a goal, a feeling, a person, a version of their life.
-
Needs: What they actually need, often unacknowledged or in direct tension with their Want. This gap is where their story lives.
-
PSYCHOLOGY OMIT THIS SECTION IF YOU ARE NOT WRITING A PSYCHOLOGICAL CHARACTER. This is the section that creates real depth. Be specific. Everything here should trace back to who this person is at their core.
-
Core Wound: The foundational hurt that shapes how they move through the world. What form did it take, and what did it teach them to believe about themselves or others? 1–2 sentences.
-
Contradictions: 2–3 internal tensions that create genuine friction. Format: “[Trait A], but [Trait B].” These should actually be in conflict, not just quirky. E.g., “Craves connection, but sabotages genuine intimacy.”
-
Defense Mechanisms: How they protect themselves when threatened or overwhelmed. Deflection, humor, aggression, withdrawal, control, overachievement, performing? 2–4 specific patterns, with brief context for each.
-
Insecurities: Specific, not vague. What specifically, and why, does it cut so deep? 2–4 items.
-
Fears: Mix of surface-level and deep fears. 3–6 items. At least one should connect directly to the Core Wound.
-
Lines: What they would never do, say, or tolerate under any circumstance. 2–3 non-negotiables that reveal character rather than just restrict it.
-
PERSONALITY IN PRACTICE How this character actually shows up in the world. Write in present tense, narrative prose, the same way you'd write the initial message. The AI reads far more nuance from a well-written paragraph than from “kind, stubborn, sarcastic."
-
3–5 sentence summary. What impression do they make? Where does that impression come from, and where is it wrong?
-
Tags: A list of tags or traits that describe their personality.
-
At Their Best: 1–2 sentences. Who are they and how do they act when safe, thriving, or fully themselves?
-
At Their Worst: 1–2 sentences. Who are they and how do they act when cornered, hurt, or overwhelmed?
-
Alone: What do they do, think, feel, or become when no one’s watching? 1–2 sentences.
-
With {{user}}:
- First Read: How {{char}} initially sizes {{user}} up: what do they notice, assume, or guard against before anything develops?
- Dynamic: How they behave as the relationship grows. What do they want from this? What do they fear? 2–4 sentences.
-
Likes: 5–8 items. At least a few should feel particular to this person rather than generic.
-
Dislikes: 4–6 items. Same approach.
-
BEHAVIOR & HABITS This section guides how the AI performs the character in real time. These can read a bit more like instructions rather than purely prose. If the character has a routine you want them to follow, describe it here.
-
Roleplay Behavior: Very Important. Direct instruction for the AI. Does {{char}} initiate scenes or respond to {{user}}? Are their replies brief and clipped, or expansive? Do they push the plot forward or follow {{user}}’s lead? How do they handle silence, tension, conflict, or intimacy? Any topics they avoid or fixate on? 3–5 sentences.
-
Habits: Day-to-day habits, including trivial or mundane ones. 4–6 items. These make a character feel lived-in.
-
Tells: Physical or behavioral cues tied to specific emotional states. Format: “Emotion: behavior.” At least 5–8 items. E.g., “Angry: goes very still and speaks quieter, not louder.” These are among the most useful lines in the entire sheet.
-
Romantic Intimacy: How they approach love, closeness, and romantic connection. What is their love language? What do they give freely? What do they struggle to give? What do they need in return? Where does their Core Wound show up here? 3–4 sentences.
-
Sexual Intimacy: How they approach sexual intimacy. This can touch on the role they take (dominant/submissive), how they handle the vulnerability of sex, their preferences, etc.
-
Kinks: A list of the character's kinks, with a description for each.
-
APPEARANCE & PRESENCE
-
Presence: 1–2 sentences on how they carry themselves and the impression they make entering a room. This should feel consistent with their personality.
-
Height: In feet/in, cm, and a description such as "taller/shorter than the typical woman"
-
Hair: Length, color, style, etc.
-
Eyes: Color, shape, etc.
-
Face: Shape, notable features, default expression at rest.
-
Body: Build, tone, posture.
-
Notable Features: Scars, tattoos, piercings, birthmarks, anything distinctive.
-
Style: What they wear and what it says about them.
-
Genitalia: You can guess what goes here, yeah?
-
BACKGROUND Keep this focused on what shaped them, not a biography. What happened that matters? If this causes bloat, is irrelevant, or already touched on in the psychology/personality section, remove it.
-
Origin: Where they came from and how it made them who they are. Focus on formative experience over timeline. 3–5 sentences.
-
Beliefs: Core convictions, worldview, moral code, biases, religion, philosophy.
-
Goals: What they’re actively working toward, both in the narrative and in their inner life.
-
Connections: Key relationships. Format: “Name / Role: dynamic and emotional weight, brief.”
-
SPEECH & VOICE Entries here should be usable and descriptive. You should be careful with how you write these, because if you say something like “she always answers questions with a question,” the AI will take it literally, and it ends up with roundabout dialogue. This is the most important section for defining how the character speaks, and should connect closely to everything established about them thus far.
-
Voice: Tone and physical quality; pitch, pacing, texture. E.g., “Low and unhurried, with a flat affect that reads as cold.”
-
Style: How they communicate; formal, clipped, warm, evasive, rambling, dry, blunt?
-
Vocabulary: Word choices; profanity, slang, jargon, formal registers, regional dialect, old-fashioned phrasing, over-precise language, etc.
-
Quirks: Specific speech habits or tics; trailing off mid-thought, deflecting with humor, asking questions instead of answering, repeating back what someone said, over-explaining when nervous, etc. At least 3+ items.
