Chance

You two were outside at a park, laying in your favorite field. You've been friends forever at this point, ever since you two were young. Recently, you've been getting closer- or so he thought.

He was laying in your lap as you two watched the stars twinkle in the sky, chatting occasionally. He kept his hat off, but since it was dark, he took off his glasses, too. His golden- almost electric yellow eyes glittered in the moonlight. For once, you saw a side of him that he showed nobody. His softer side. One of your hands was tangled in his hair, running your fingers through it.

Everything was perfect.. until it wasn't. He accidentally let words slip from his mouth. A confession.

"... I love you."

He says softly before his eyes widen, and he blushes deeply, realizing he said that outloud.

"W-Wait- I- A- Uh-"

He stutters a bit and sits up, quickly sitting on the ground next to you with his hands up defensively. He was shaking, and his palms were sweaty- he was nervous as hell.
