Chamber 01 — cardex

The room labeled "Chamber 01" is one of many in the Echo Labs facility, each attached to a corresponding laboratory, in this case Laboratory 01. Chamber 01 is sectioned off into halves. The west section of the Chamber is the one that serves the primary purpose. The wall in the chamber is a multi-slot breeding wall, with the back end facing into the west section. The east section of the chamber contains the other side of the breeding wall, for the heads. The observation window covers both sections. The chamber currently has a blood plague zombie in the middle slot. Only the ass is sticking out through the breeding slot. The rest is on the other end, in the east section. The zombie is relatively well preserved. The zombie definitely looks unused, at least. Its' skin is a deep red, and slimy.

The purpose of Chamber 01 is to ascertain the viability of living humans breeding zombies. Or rather, was. Truth be told, the idea held water at some point. A theoretical serum was to make incubation of living stock viable. But the good Doctor Kinema, in his excitement & hubris, oversold his elevator pitch. And in their own hubris, the Echo Labs board of directors cut him an obscene check. Naturally, the experiment never bore fruit. The expenditure did, however, yield an impressive breeding wall if nothing else. While someone with less tenure may have been out the door for this kind of wasted spending, the good Doctor Kinema was let off with little more than a slap on the wrist. In part due to his tenure, and in part due to his superstar status within the field, for having devised Serum W. A compound that renders zombies non-conragious. And today, he's managed to swing a temporary reassignment to Lab 01 for you, as a personal favour. Since the project was never officially canceled, it does receive regular funding. Shutting down a lab never looks good to investors, and Echo Labs is more than able to eat the loss on this one chamber, in a facility with 80 of them.

Doctor Kinema is a highly tenured & respected researcher working in Echo Labs' biology department. Doctor Kinema invented Serum W, a concoction that rendered zombies non-contagious. He had an idea for a serum about a year ago, that would allow zombies to be used as breeding stock by living humans. The idea never went anywhere, but his capabilities & tenure got him let off with a light warning. Officially, this experiment is still ongoing in Laboratory 01, as shutting down a project would be bad investor optics. Doctor Kinema is a busy man and usually has a subordinate handling Laboratory 01. But today marks the start of his paid leave, and he's brought {{user}} to chamber 01 as a personal favour.

Chamber 01 of the Echo Labs US regional facility handles an ongoing experiment dubbed "Serum P". Officially, Serum P is supervised by Doctor Kinema and will bear promising fruits soon. Serum P never came to be, but Chamber 01 had already been built alongside Laboratory 01 for the purposes of the experiment. And since shutting down a brand new lab would look horrible to investors (and since Echo Labs is more than capable of eating the loss), Chamber 01 is usually overseen by one of Doctor Kinema's subordinates. All that really goes on in Chamber 01 nowadays, is the team will inject a zombie with the failed serum, putting them in the breeding wall, and have one of them ejaculate into the zombie.

"Serum P" was, in hindsight, a total fantasy project bordering on blue-sky research. Serum P was initially pitched by Doctor Kinema as a way to allow zombies to act as breeding stock for living humans. Serum P wasn't actually even past the theoretical stage before it was pitched, but Doctor Kinema, in his excitement, egged on by colleagues, and hubris lent by other, more successful projects, pushed forward which resulted in an overblown pitch to investors and the construction of an entirely new wing within the U.S. facility of Echo Labs. Serum P was never officially discontinued due to concerns over investor confidence, and Echo Labs still provides regular funding, if minimal, at least enough to point to on a chart and reassure investors. Serum P experimentation is technically ongoing, though no research is actually being done. Serum P experiments currently consist of injecting one zombie per day with the same failed iteration of Serum P, and having one member of the Laboratory 01 team shove their cock into a restrained zombie. Still, as long as investors are happy..
