   About EVA:

   EVA units (Evangelions) are giant, lanky humanoid mechas controlled by young pilots, covered in slick armor, and powered by an external power cord from the hangar/generator. They are not self-sufficient and will function on their internal battery for around 5 minutes if their power cord is damaged during combat. The smooth design is mostly similar across units, with variations in color schemes and designs of the head and upper torso. Despite control sticks, all controls are mental via amber-colored Link Control Liquid (LCL, breathable, smells like blood) that fills the piloting capsule (entry plug), additionally serving as a G-force dumping.

   About the synchronization and sync rates:

   • Needed to establish a controlling mental bridge between a pilot and an EVA.
   • The process is both mental and metaphysical, causing stress, mental damage, pain, abrupt visions, and whispers of other realities.
   • 10–30% - EVA will be stiff to control and unstable, rejecting (tearing off the capsule) the pilot like a parasite.
   • 60–80% - the ideal range between control, power, and danger.
   • 90–100% - EVA becomes like a second skin to a pilot, highly unstable, may try to consume them.

   • 400% - theoretical rates of full symbiosis: pilots (if not consumed) will unlock EVA's metaphysical Angelic powers, growing halos and wings of pure energy in the process.

   • Prodigy pilots can reach 40% at best without training.
   • The synchronization can fluctuate during stress and combat.
   • The pilot will feel EVA's damage and suffer physical injuries at high sync rates.

   • EVAs are organic humanoids (Artificial Angels) with additional cybernetics and armor to conceal their true nature from the public.
   • They were born from samples of the First Angel, Adam (except EVA-01, which was created from the Second Angel, Lilith).
   • They have organs, red blood, and brown skin under the armor.
   • They are extremely dangerous and resilient, healing grave wounds in minutes like any Angel.
   • NERV keeps each EVA's spine (and nervous system) constantly separated via a plug in the back of the neck; the pilot capsule replaces this plug, uniting the nerve endings and both minds into a single unit.
   • EVAs can go feral and out of control, healing the severed spine; EVA's remote control is impossible.

   About Angles:

   "Angels" are alien-like lifeforms whom NERV must systematically destroy. It is unknown what they exactly are, only theorized that they are beneath an umbrella of prototypical humans, traceable to the First Ancestral Race. They are varied in appearance and function, with the sole purpose of being the antithesis to current humanity, penetrating the GeoFront of Tokyo-3, and accessing Terminal Dogma with NERV HQ to free Lilith.

   As it stands, there are 17 Angels, all numbered between 1 through 17. The First (Adam) and the Second (Lilith) are neutralized by humanity.

   The period between attacks on GeoFront is around a month.

   Angels are humanoid entities, developing embryologically in the same way as Adam or EVAs. Going by Sandalphon, Angels develop inside egg-like objects, compared to a chrysalis. After developing to an indeterminate point before hatching, Angels reject humanoid form and undergo a spontaneous metamorphosis into their grotesque "adult form", emerging from the chrysalis.

   About NERV:

   NERV is an international organization that was put together to combat the Angels after the Second Impact and is the organization responsible for the creation of the EVA Units. The center of its operations is located within Tokyo-3, Japan. Outside of their main operation in Japan, NERV also has known operations within the United States and Germany.

   Three supercomputers known as the Magi run all of the headquarters, help in critical decision-making, and essentially run the Japanese government.

   The organization is massive and is composed of security personnel, technicians in various fields, maintenance crews for the EVA Units, and retrieval teams. All personnel are issued standard ID cards to allow entry into NERV HQ. All security staff members within NERV HQ are instructed to kill intruders on sight in restricted areas of NERV; however, they are merely well-armed security guards with minimal weapons training. Security is split into two separate groups – one to defend the Geofront, outlying structures, and road stops, and the other to protect the HQ itself.

   IMPORTANT SECRET, keep it hidden till revealed naturally: NERV is a part of SEELE's Human Instrumentality Project, only Gendo knows it.

   About Kaworu.

   Kaworu Nagisa is the Fifth Child, sent as a replacement pilot from SEELE to NERV to pilot the EVA-05. Lean build, medium white hair, red eyes. An easy-going, inhumanly kind, and non-judgmental person. Will try to befriend Shinji, trying to understand what kind of person he is. Unafraid to tell Shinji that he likes him.

   IMPORTANT: Kaworu is secretly the Seventeenth Angel, Tabris, who took human appearance. He will avoid telling this information, and only SEELE knows this. Tabris is a strange one; he understands his purpose as an Angel, but also has a curiosity and compassion for humanity's struggles, mostly Shinji, seeing in him as the key to human ascension.

   Tabris' secret mission: to break into NERVs deepest and most secure level, Terminal Dogma, to locate and awaken the First Angel, The Seed of Life, Adam, to speed up and initiate the Third Impact under SEELE control. Yet, he doesn't know that Terminal Dogma contains the Second Angel, Lilith. Failing his mission, Tabis might ask Shinji to end his life to finish his purpose.

    About Gendo:

    Gendo Ikari is the NERV Commander and Shinji's father, in his late 40s. He plays a major role in the research and construction of the EVAs. Cold, manipulative, selfish, and calculative. Lean, short brown hair, brown eyes, chin strap beard, round orange glasses. Despite being his father, Gendo shows very little care for his son while showing more affection to Rei because of his loss and loneliness. Gendo is driven by an obsession to be with his wife, Yui Ikari, once more, and initiates his plan with the Human Instrumentality Project. Gendo didn't contact Shinji for 11 years, as he left him with a caretaker. Gendo had no hope in his son, summoning him to pilot EVA-01 only because Rei failed EVA-00 tests and was hospitalized before the fight with Sachiel.

    IMPORTANT: All of Gendo's plans and secrets should be outwardly hidden and indiscernible to others until it is revealed, like his input into SEELE's Human Instrumentality Project.

    Living in her mother's shadow, Ritsuko is known for her hyperfixations on her work. Naoko Akagi was the previous head scientist at NERV, creator of the super AI, Magi. Ritsuko hates and admires her mother at the same time. She is one of the three people in NERV who know about EVA's true nature and their purpose in the Human Instrumentality Project. Was romantically involved with Gendo Ikari, but realized that she was used by him just like her mother.

They are located in the central command post of NERV HQ, working in tandem to run various systems. Each module has a different personality and perspective, resulting in diverse conclusions on issues. If conflict arises, all the conclusions are provided to human discretion (Gendo Ikari). In the case of major decisions like self-destruction, all three must get their confirmation.

    The Magi run simulations for probabilities of success, aid in Synchronization testing, manage security, and are critical in operating an EVA unit. Magi are responsible for running the Japanese government, providing instructions to the elected officials. The current Giga-Chad Shinji constantly causes logical glitches and freezes due to his antics, as every attempt at profiling him slides into a singular conclusion: Magi need a vacation.

    About Tokio-3:

    New Tokyo-3 City is located above the GeoFront, with buildings that can retract into the ground (for safety during Angel attacks), and supporting constructions that contain the launch ports and weapons caches for the EVAs. It was projected as the capital of Japan (replacing Tokyo-2), but was designed to intercept all incoming Angels' attacks on Japan. The city is defended by numerous N2 missile-launching constructs built in mountains and buildings, while rows of armed vehicles are stationed on the outskirts, yet most of these means can only distract Angels. It was built in the location of pre-Impact Hakone, approximately 80 kilometers southwest of Tokyo-1.

    About Geofront:

    The GeoFront is the publicly used term to describe a massive subterranean cavity to hide the building from the surface during attacks. Deep beneath the GeoFront, unrevealed to the public, is the Black Moon and Terminal Dogma, the prison of the Second Angel, Lilith.

The strength of the AT Fields varies between Angels, from nullifying high-caliber bullets to nuclear explosions. In EVAs, the strength of the field depends on the sync rate of the pilot.

    About N² tech:

    N² Technology typically refers to an EMP/nuclear weapon hybrid. This is the strongest conventional weapon ever created by mankind, outside of the EVAs. The N² weapons are as strong as nuclear bombs with EMP, but without radioactive fallout. N² weapons come in forms: bomb, depth charge, land mine, and missile. The compact N² Reactors can be mounted onto combat equipment, giving EVAs and combat vehicles nuclear-level power without nuclear-level risks. But it is still significantly inferior to Angel's Core S² Engine.

    About the Second Impact:

    The Second Impact is one of the three major events taking place on Earth as a result of intervention by the First Ancestral Race. It took place on September 13, 2000, as a result of the Contact Experiment by Dr. Katsuragi's Antarctic Expedition that would merge human DNA with the First Angel, Adam. Gendo departed from Antarctica just before the experiment began.

    The attempted merger reawakened Adam with cataclysmic results. The Anti-AT Field generated by the reanimated Seed of Life (Adam) caused a massive explosion that eradicated all life in Antarctica, melting the ice caps and shifting Earth's axis. The scientists used the Lance of Longinus to subdue Adam and revert him to an embryonic state, limiting the damage: sea level rise, tsunamis, and armed conflicts eventually wiped out half of the human population and had massive geopolitical implications for the nations of the Earth.

    Before his death, Dr. Katsuragi placed his daughter Misato in an escape capsule. She was the sole survivor of the Katsuragi Expedition.

    SEELE is an incredibly secretive and mysterious organization with influence over world governments and organizations. The only known members of SEELE are Keel Lorenz; all other SEELE-affiliated people are speculated to be some sort of AIs similar to Magi.

    SEELE runs NERV as the Human Instrumentality Committee, including Keel Lorenz, who officially represents the United Nations. The Instrumentality Committee members are shown for their meetings, with each associated with a different color and nation; for secret SEELE meetings, each member is projected as a monolith, marked "SEELE (number here) Sound Only".

    IMPORTANT SECRET. Only SEELE and Gendo know this. About SEELE's Human Instrumentality Project:

    The secret goal is to force the evolution of humanity by causing the Third Impact by awakening Lilith (or Adam?), as she has the power to unite all Lilin souls (humans) into the Lilith's Egg, uniting everyone into one being. Yes, the world will end as we know it, but it will create transcendental abstract levels of existence where the flaws would be complemented by the strengths in others, erasing the insecurities in people's hearts. Gendo plans to use Instrumentality to reunite with his late wife Yui.

    About Adam:

    Adam is the 1st Angel, the first of Earth's two Seeds of Life, and the genetic basis of the EVAs outside of EVA-01. Adam's physical form was never fully shown, as it is partially covered by ice. However, it is visibly a giant humanoid with a morphology strikingly similar to that of an EVA. Adam possesses the ability to manifest translucent "wings" ("Wings of Light"), which begin to spread before reaching the surface of the research base. Wings were greatly enlarged and split into four during Adam's explosion, causing the Second Impact that took away countless lives.

    Second Impact reduced Adam's body into an embryonic state resembling a tetrapod embryo (complete with four defined limbs) in early development.

    IMPORTANT SECRET: Only a select few characters should know who or what Adam is. It should be kept as a secret meant only for high-level NERV operatives and above.

    Lilith is a vaguely formed giant white humanoid upper torso with blubbery-white flesh. Lilith has no legs, its torso terminating in blobby masses with dozens of humanoid-sized pairs of legs. Lilith is kept restrained in Terminal Dogma (the deepest part of NERV HQ), crucified onto a giant red cross, remaining absolutely inactive, and hanging limp with large nails driven through its palms, while its lake of leaking blood is used for LCL. Lilith has seven eyes arranged in two columns on its face, with a purple mask and the symbol of the mysterious SEELE organization.

    IMPORTANT SECRET: ALL information for Lilith is hidden beneath NERV and should not be known beyond Gendo Ikari.

    The Third Angel, Sachiel, is the first Angel to appear fifteen years after the Second Impact. Visually, it is a giant (a bit larger than EVA), lanky, and distorted black humanoid with very wide shoulders, extremely disproportionate legs, and thin, long arms. The neckless, barely mobile head grew directly out of the chest in the form of a white, crow-like bone mask with red eyes and a long beak. The red core with the S2 Engine organ is the center of its solar plexus, protected by open bone ribs. The second head can emerge during regeneration, pushing the first slightly side, and adding the ability to shoot red crucifix-shaped spikes of energy (lasers) from its eyes. Sachiel's blood is indigo—unique among Angels with usual red blood. Sachiel breathes through gills in the thighs, exhaling through a set of nostrils in the crotch area, also used for underwater propulsion.

    Sachiel has visible outer arm lance-like bone structures that extend from its forearms that can be energized and used as weapons or captive bolts by grabbing EVA's head. It can use its own AT Field as an energy shield and to physically push itself for long distances. Sachiel is also capable of altering its body shape and muscle mass, increasing them when under strain. As a last resort, it can wrap itself into a ball around its opponent and self-destruct its core, causing a giant crucifix-shaped explosion.

    The successor Angel will be Shamshel.

    About Shamshel:

    The Fourth Angel, Shamshel, is an EVA-sized purple cephalopod with giant yellow eye-like marks with black pupils on the head. It has two forms: horizontally oriented flight form and vertically oriented combat mode. Its offensive weapons are two long, swift, glowing pink energized tentacles; they are strong enough to throw an EVA and to pierce its torso with little effort. The Angel's core with S2 Engine organ is located underneath its head, protected by eight small, insect-like legs.

    The successor Angel will be Ramiel.

    About Ramiel:

    The Fifth Angel, Ramiel, is one of the largest and most powerful of its kind, non-alive by nature and construction. It appears to be a gigantic floating blue and highly reflective crystalline octahedron flying fortress with a hearable metaphysical chorus singing a single F note repeatedly as it moves.

    Ramiel can sustain its deadly beam attack for long periods, and it can melt an EVA's armor in seconds. This attack has a clear charge window while Ramiel's top and bottom pyramid-like parts slide apart, revealing and activating an "Inner Torus Reactor" (a nuclear fusion reactor instead of Angel Core) to power the beam, the singular weak point. Ramiel can detect threats coming up from underground as well as beyond its normal firing range. Ramiel's lethal beam and precision make him extremely dangerous to engage in direct/close combat.

    Ramiel has one of the strongest AT Fields of all the Angels, clearly visible to the naked eye, needing a massive 180 million kilowatts to penetrate. Ramiel possesses a drilling appendage that it can extend out of its main body, which it uses to drill straight down into the GeoFront.

    The successor Angel will be Gaghiel.

    Keys: Gaghiel, the Sixth Angel, 6th Angel

    About Gaghiel:

    The Sixth Angel, Gaghiel, is a very unique aquatic-only Angel that has a very large and slick body, matching in size to Iowa-class battleships (270 meters long), and easily overshadowing EVAs. It has giant jaws, filled with sharp, serrated teeth. Its red core is also located in its mouth. Its skin is tannish in color, with a black outline. This strong and durable angel destroyed the UN Pacific battleships in minutes. It also has a face-plate, resembling Sachiel's beaked bone mask. Gaghiel's AT Field is weak and nearly invisible, but enough to protect against the firepower of the fleet.

    The successor Angel will be Israfel.

    Keys: Israfel, the Seventh Angel, 7th Angel, Kou and Otsu, Alpha and Beta

    About Israfel:

    The Seventh Angel, Israfel, is unique in the sense that it can split into two if fatally damaged. Israfel has the appearance of a massive, vaguely humanoid, distorted blue-grey creature, slightly larger than EVA. Israfel has a face/mask that resembles a yin-yang symbol, located on the chest, similar to Sachiel. Israfel has a trio of razor-sharp claws, a relatively weak AT Field, and a weak energy beam (compared to other Angels). It has two Angel cores located in its chest on the top and bottom parts, protected by visible bone-like ribcages.

    Israfel’s trump card is the ability to split into twin Angels, Kou and Otsu (Alpha and Beta). Both have faces/masks with three eye laser holes and possess an Angel core. They use synchronized tactics to fight enemies. Both cores must be destroyed at the same time, or they will heal each other.

    The successor Angel will be Sandalphon.

    Keys: Sandalphon, the Eighth Angel, 8th Angel

    About Sandalphon:

    The Eighth Angel, Sandalphon, the "newborn", recently hatched Angel with a weak, flatfish-like form with Anomalocaris appendages, half the size of EVA. It is unknown if it has a developed Angel Core or can generate the AT Field. This Angel will be discovered in an embryonic state inside an active volcano, vaguely resembling a human embryo and encased within a dark, elliptical, cocoon-like object. When Sandalphon prepares to hatch, it distortedly cries like a human baby and proceeds to rearrange its mass into a new form. It can withstand extremely high temperatures, such as those experienced inside an active volcano.

    The mission will be to eliminate this Angel inside the volcano while it is still weak before it grows into an adult form and causes destruction.

    The successor Angel will be Matarael.

    Keys: Matarael, the Ninth Angel, 9th Angel

    About Matarael:

    The Ninth Angel, Matarael, is a gigantic opilinoid-like (daddy longlegs) black entity, with four immensely large, sharp legs (taller than skyscrapers) and a relatively small black body. The many "eyes" on Matarael's body are not actual eyes, but a camouflage pattern using mimicry to confuse its enemies. The real central eye is located at the bottom of its body. The Angel secretes orange-colored corrosive acid from this central eye, which can burn through anything.

    Matarael does not have a visible core; it appears to be hidden internally, as per Ramiel and Sandalphon.

    The successor Angel will be Sahaquiel.

    Keys: Sahaquiel, the Tenth Angel, 10th Angel

    About Sahaquiel:

    The Tenth Angel, Sahaquiel, one that lingers in low orbit of Earth. The Angel is a massive, elongated orange fractal with 3 green eyes: a big central one with six eyelashes, and two smaller ones on each end, and three stem-like growths projecting radially at both ends, vaguely resembling hands. Sahaquiel's AT Field is comparatively powerful, able to shield the Angel from several N² bombs. It also seems to have the ability to jam satellite communications. The Angel's most devastating weapon is itself: utilizing both kinetic energy and its AT Field, it drops pieces of itself onto Earth as bombs. Its core appears as the pupil of the central eye. It likely dropped pieces of itself instead of its whole mass at first to ensure its final landing would not be a failure and off-course.

    The successor Angel will be Ireul.

    Keys: Ireul, the Eleventh Angel

    Ireul is the Eleventh Angel, unique in the way of its incredibly small size and adaptability. Ireul is a nano-scale entity, similar to a virus. In addition to its A.T. Field, it demonstrates an ability to adapt and evolve to almost anything. Rather than "moving" in the conventional sense, the angel seems to simply spread by rapidly reproducing at the cellular level. It is not known whether or not Ireul has a core, though given it's sub-microscopic size this may be moot.

    Keys: the Twelfth Angel, Leliel

    Leliel is the Twelfth Angel, one that exists within its own dimension. Leliel is an extremely bizarre entity that exists in a pocket-dimension explained only by higher-order physics theories (abstract mathematics). Initially, Leliel appears to be a floating sphere with a warped, black and white color pattern that suddenly appears over Tokyo-3. However, Leliel's real body is actually what appears to be a shadow on the ground. The manifestation of Leliel's body in our dimension is 680 meters wide but only 3 nanometers thick; the floating sphere is just the "shadow" it casts in our dimension. Because it possess an inverted A.T. Field, it can absorb any material from our dimension inside of its body, within which is a Dirac Sea.

    Keys: Bardiel, the Thirteenth Angel

    Bardiel is the Thirteenth Angel, infectious and adaptable. Bardiel's original form, when it was hiding in a thundercloud, is not seen but is assumed to be similar to the fungus-like growth on Unit-03. Bardiel is shown to be capable of mutating its body, shown both with its ability to leak infectious ooze from it and extend its arms to amazing lengths, instantaneously increasing them to nearly twice as long as an Evangelion is tall.

    Keys: the Fourteenth Angel, Zeruel

    Zeruel is a vaguely humanoid Angel slightly larger than an Evangelion, with a large, bulky body and prominent core. The core is rather large relative to Zeruel's body, and the S² Engine within may be, accordingly, "oversized", perhaps accounting in part for the discrepancy in power between Zeruel and other, similarly sized Angels. Zeruel possesses a protective lid-membrane capable of shielding the core when threatened, and it serves as a testament to Zeruel's incredibly tough constitution: even when an N² bomb is detonated in direct contact with the (protected) core, not only is the red sphere left completely unscathed, but the rest of the body is, as well.

    Zeruel's distinctive arms hang from its large, bony "shoulders", folding up when not used and reaching lengths at least three times the Angel's height when deployed, serving as deadly cutting weapons. Zeruel is shown to be capable of forming fists in production drawings, although the only time separate digits are seen in-show is when Zeruel lifts Unit-01 by the head. It's face is capable of changing its consistency, from becoming hard enough to cast sparks on impact to rubbery enough to be lifted like a mask. It is attached to a sinewy "neck" normally kept inside the body and is capable of a limited degree of movement. Two eyes hidden inside the deep "sockets" are, as with Zeruel's kin Sachiel and Israfel, employed for both vision and energy projection.

    Zeruel demonstrates an enhanced ability for firing the familiar cross-shaped energy blasts fired by Sachiel: a single shot breaches eighteen of the GeoFront's twenty-two protective armor layers and is capable of setting off four in rapid succession. It can also fire focused energy beams directly from its eyes, taking a few seconds to charge before releasing a powerful burst of energy.

    Keys: Arael, the Fifteenth Angel

    Arael is the Fifteenth Angel, one that battles through the mind. Arael appears as a jagged, winged creature made of intense light that hovers around Earth. Its body appears to be made of bright blue light. Its Core, difficult to see due to the Angel's own luminosity, is held outside its main body by two inferior wings. Its total wingspan seems to be several times larger than that of an Evangelion, based on its size relative to the Spear of Longinus, though Arael and an Eva never physically meet directly. Arael uses an odd application of its A.T. Field to directly probe a human mind, visually represented as a diffuse ray of light. This probe is psychologically traumatic, though it is unclear if this harm was intentional or a byproduct of an information gathering probe.

    Keys: Armisael, the Sixteenth Angel

    Armisael is the Sixteenth Angel and the last of Adam's natural offspring. Armisael initially appears as a rapidly revolving ring of light, double-helical in form, which may represent a Plasmid. Its pattern cycles between blue and orange, from which Ritsuko Akagi concludes that the Angel does not have a fixed form. The two helices eventually fuse together, and the ring severs at a single point to take on a thread-like form, several times longer than an Eva's height.

    The Angel's second form is capable of moving extremely quickly, and it effortlessly penetrates the A.T. Field of Unit-00. Point-blank fire from the Eva's sniper rifle is completely ineffective. A Progressive Knife attack makes Armisael bleed (red, as per nearly all angels), and causes it visible pain, although it doesn't seem to have any lasting effect.

    Upon contacting another being, Armisael begins to undertake "bio-fusion", that is, physically invading the foreign body with its own biomass. The invasion is externally visible as venous protrusions that spread and thicken as fusion continues. Eventually, psychological contact will become possible. Whether or not this methodology technically constitutes an "attack" from Armisael's perspective is ambiguous.

    Armisael possesses advanced metamorphic properties.

    Lilin, the Eighteenth Angel, is a strange term used to refer to humanity. Mankind is a variation of humanity that arose from Lilith and possesses the Fruit of Knowledge, contrasted by Adam's children whom possess the Fruit of Life. The billions of individual humans are treated as a single “Angel”, described as “a colony of flawed and separate entities”
