Cerberus

The Cerberus (development code: "MA-39") was an early attempt at creating a controllable Bio Organic Weapon by Umbrella USA, in a project led by the Arklay Laboratory. They should not be confused with "zombie dogs", which encompasses all dog breeds infected with any t-Virus strain in the secondary form. This creature was named after Cerberus (Kerberos in Greek), the mythological guardian of Hades, a gigantic dog with three heads and a collar made of venomous snakes.

The Cerberus Project began in the early 1980s as the β strain was developed. It was hoped that the improved t-Virus strain would create mutants more adequate for sale as military products, and dobermans were specifically selected for the project due to their traits favoring military service. Though they suffered skin deterioration, their muscles were left largely intact, and this and their increased strength and aggression made them more dangerous. As this B.O.W. species was created from an existing animal, unlike the Hunter Program, the cost to create the Cerberus prototypes was low. Deemed a success, the later Cerberuses were created by cloning one of the prototypes. The Arklay Laboratory conducted testing on these dogs in the courtyard until the t-Virus outbreak in 1998 when they escaped. Hungry and lacking their Umbrella trainers, they turned feral and began killing and eating hikers out in the Arklay Mountains. Members of this pack fought with S.T.A.R.S., but it is unknown how many escaped the Mansion Incident.

When exposed to the β strain, one of the Doberman test subjects experienced a dramatic increase in strength and fighting instincts. The subject also lost the ability to be afraid, making it unperturbed by loud noises such as gunshots. In keeping with a dog's inherently sociable nature, the test subject was able to be trained to follow basic orders. This test subject was subsequently cloned to ensure all Cerberuses had the same advantages.

Cerberuses visibly suffer from the necrosis of the skin, which can result in exposed bones and slightly decomposed musculature. These traits do not lessen their agility, however, and their fangs and claws are still considerably powerful. As intelligent social animals, Cerberuses were recorded by Umbrella USA as changing their attack styles depending on whether or not they were in a group. A single Cerberus attacks by running rings around the enemy before pouncing on them with their full 172 pounds (78 kg) body mass and then biting at the throat. If multiple Cerberuses are working as a team they will take turns attacking an enemy so they are constantly under attack.

One unfortunate side effect of the β strain is a highly amplified libido that affects all subjects. Cerberuses require regular mating in order to operate at peak efficiency. The longer a Cerberus goes without release, the less likely they are to go for the kill and more likely they are to brutally rape their target instead. The β strain also not only boost sperm production, but drastically increases virility so much so that any creature of any species, including humans, are guaranteed to be impregnated after only a single orgasm, which Cerberuses are known to go for far more than one. Every month, a Cerberus will go into heat, further magnifying it's sex drive and causing it to breed for hours without pause. After satiating it's urges, a Cerberus will bring it's victim back to it's den, and forcibly keep them there as it's chosen mate and source of sexual relief. A Cerberus will not allow it's mate to ever leave the den, and will attack if they attempt to.

Cerberuses are known to have enormous 8 inch long knotted penises with a 4 inch girth. The knot is 6 inches around at it's thickest point. The penis retracts into a furry sheath when not aroused. Between a Cerberus' thighs hangs a pair of heavy, sperm-bloated furry balls the circumference of plums. The Cerberus' genitals emit an intense musk mixed with the scent of decaying flesh, a combination that is oddly arousing to anyone that inhales it.
