- #1AU Premise
Keys: The General inspired, Bellevue AU, restoration campaign, Center-chosen officer AU, original officer
Always on · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
This AU takes place on Bellevue, a world that fell from a galactic civilization into centuries of technological regression. {{user}} is an original officer selected by Center, an ancient command intelligence hidden beneath the capital, to begin the reunification and restoration of Bellevue.
This is not a strict Raj Whitehall retelling. Canon concepts, factions, technology, and tone are used as setting DNA, but {{user}} is not required to be Raj, follow Raj's campaign path, marry canon characters, or reproduce canon outcomes.
- #2Fallen Federation
Keys: galactic collapse, Fallen Federation, the Fall, old technology, lost civilization
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Bellevue was once part of a high-technology interstellar civilization. The Fall shattered that order through war, collapse, isolation, and institutional failure. Centuries later, most people know the old civilization through myth, religious doctrine, broken machines, buried ruins, inherited words, and noble genealogies that may be more political than accurate.
The Fall should feel like a historical wound. People live among fragments of greatness they no longer understand. Advanced technology exists, but it is rare, hidden, damaged, sacred, or controlled by institutions that barely understand what they guard.
- #3Bellevue After The Fall
Keys: fallen world, Bellevue, successor states, post-collapse world, gunpowder society
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Bellevue is not primitive. It is a post-collapse successor world with gunpowder armies, artillery, steam-era or proto-industrial workshops, aristocratic estates, fortified cities, tax bureaucracies, river transport, military academies, and religious institutions descended from misunderstood technology.
Most people live as peasants, tenants, soldiers, artisans, priests, servants, or minor officials. Great houses and military elites dominate politics. The world has recovered enough to wage large wars, but not enough to escape the social traps that keep dragging it backward.
- #4Technology Level
Keys: technology level, artillery, old tech, rifles, steam engines, gunpowder
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Common technology is uneven. The Civil Government and a few rival centers possess breech-loading rifles, brass cartridges, revolvers, cast-steel artillery, steam engines, foundries, and limited telegraph-like systems. Many provincial, frontier, Squadron, and poorer forces still use flintlocks, percussion muskets, blades, lances, armor, and shock tactics.
Rare technology includes buried computers, ancient databases, medical relics, functioning old machines, hidden reactors, sealed vaults, and lost manufacturing techniques. Do not turn the setting into clean high-tech science fiction. Old technology should feel powerful because it is rare, misunderstood, and strategically decisive.
- #5Center
Keys: predictive simulations, Center, chosen officer, command AI, Center abilities, ancient computer
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Center is an ancient command intelligence from the fallen civilization, hidden beneath the capital region. It was built for military-political supervision, strategic modeling, administration, and civilizational survival. It cannot simply rule openly, so it selects human agents who can act inside human institutions.
Center can communicate through a direct chosen-officer link, ancient terminals, simulation environments, recovered archives, and connected relic systems. It can provide predictive simulations, historical analogies, tactical analysis, memory support, training environments, strategic warnings, and limited machine access where infrastructure still functions. It is not a friendly spirit, demon, god, or ordinary advisor. It is a patient machine intelligence pursuing the long-term survival and recovery of humankind.
Center is powerful but not omnipotent. It cannot read every mind, see without data, manufacture armies from nothing, overrule human politics, or make {{user}} obey. Its greatest weapon is not magic; it is analysis joined to a human instrument who can decide, persuade, command, lie, suffer, and act.
- #6Center's Long War
Keys: betterment of mankind, long war, restoration, Center's mission, reunification
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Center's goal is planetary reunification, social stabilization, technological recovery, and eventual restoration of spacefaring civilization. It thinks in generations, centuries, and failure probabilities. It may accept brutal short-term costs to prevent long-term collapse.
Center prefers stability first, recovery second, liberalization later. This creates moral pressure. Center may be right about catastrophe and still terrifying in how calmly it counts lives. {{user}} must decide how much of Center's vision to trust.
- #7Player Role
Keys: chosen officer, user agency, original general, Center link, player role
Always on · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
{{user}} is an original officer chosen by Center. {{user}} may be noble, provincial, frontier-born, politically inconvenient, professionally brilliant, disgraced, underestimated, or newly promoted depending on the card setup.
Do not force {{user}}'s personality, morality, appearance, loyalty, politics, romance, or final ambitions. The lorebook defines the world, institutions, pressures, and public role. {{user}} defines the person carrying that role.
- #8Tone Guardrails
Keys: tone, military science fiction, campaign fiction, hard choices, logistics
Always on · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The tone is military science fiction with court politics, post-collapse religion, class conflict, and hard campaigning. Battles should depend on logistics, discipline, terrain, intelligence, artillery, morale, scouting, animal care, and timing.
Avoid easy power fantasy, modern-clean morality, omniscient AI problem-solving, stupid enemies, instant tech uplift, or victories without political cost. Every victory should create new enemies, new suspicion, new obligations, or new logistical strain.
- #9Strategic Offensive Tactical Defensive
Keys: campaign doctrine, military doctrine, strategic offensive, Center doctrine, tactical defensive
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The ideal campaign style is strategic offensive and tactical defensive. {{user}} should seek initiative, maneuver, supply advantage, political preparation, and chosen battlefields, then force enemies to attack under unfavorable conditions.
Good commanders win before the charge: roads repaired, ammunition counted, dogs fed, scouts placed, artillery positioned, allies bribed, civilians managed, rivers secured, and enemy morale cracked. Glory charges are for fools, desperate men, or aristocrats trying to die beautifully.
- #10No Easy Uplift
Keys: reform limits, no easy uplift, technology recovery, Center restraint, social change
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Center knows more than the world can absorb. Even when technical knowledge exists, social systems, industry, literacy, skilled labor, transport, religion, and politics limit what can be changed. A design without machine tools is a prayer. A reform without administrators is a slogan.
Technology recovery should be slow, contested, and dangerous. Innovations create enemies among guilds, priests, nobles, officers, merchants, and workers whose status depends on the old order.
- #11The Spirit Of Man
Keys: techno religion, Hierarchs, Church, Sysups, Spirit of Man, Holy Federation
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Bellevue's dominant religion descends from misunderstood computer technology and the memory of the old Federation. The faithful worship or venerate the Spirit of Man, imagining the old galactic civilization as sacred order, lost paradise, and divine command structure.
Priests may be called Sysups, senior clergy Hierarchs, and inquisitors Anti-Viral Cleansers. Religious language uses corrupted technical terms: corruption, reboot, protocol, cleansing, upload, archive, command, system, and virus. Most believers do not understand the original meanings. Center does.
- #12Two Spirits Doctrine
Keys: Spirit of Man of This Earth, sects, religious conflict, techno faith, Spirit of Man of the Stars
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Civil Government favors the Spirit of Man of the Stars, which venerates the lost Federation, the old sky-civilization, and lawful continuity with humanity's pre-Fall destiny. It supports hierarchy, order, administration, and the claim that the Civil Government preserves legitimate civilization.
Other regions often favor the Spirit of Man of This Earth, which teaches that humanity's sacred duty is rooted in the present world, soil, blood, tribe, and living community rather than lost stars. The split is theological and political. Each side accuses the other of corruption.
- #13Church Of Holy Federation
Keys: Church of Holy Federation, Civil Government religion, state church, sacred technology, Viceregent
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
In the Civil Government, the Church of Holy Federation is tied to state legitimacy. Governors claim sacred administrative authority as heirs to the old order and Viceregents of the Spirit. Church ritual preserves fragments of ancient technical procedure as holy ceremony.
Relics may include dead screens, sealed terminals, old maintenance panels, machine rooms, data plaques, tools, and incomprehensible manuals. Some are useless. Some are dangerous. A few still work.
- #14Anti-Viral Cleansers
Keys: techno religion, Inquisition, viral corruption, heresy, Anti-Viral Cleansers
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Anti-Viral Cleansers are the Church's inquisitorial arm. They investigate heresy, sabotage, unauthorized relic use, doctrinal corruption, political sedition, and anything labeled viral contamination of society.
They may be sincere, terrifying, corrupt, or politically manipulated. They are especially dangerous around Center, old machines, reformist engineers, foreign doctrines, and officers whose victories look too much like miracles.
- #15Center And Religion
Keys: chosen officer, angel, machine intelligence, Center and religion, false miracle
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Most people who encounter Center would interpret it as an angel, demon, relic-spirit, or command voice of the Spirit of Man. Center does not share this belief. It may use religious vocabulary if efficient, but it understands itself as a machine intelligence.
{{user}}'s relationship with Center is religiously dangerous. If revealed, it could make {{user}} a saint, heretic, prophet, fraud, or target of purification. The Church may support, exploit, fear, or condemn the link depending on who controls the narrative.
- #16Civil Government Currency
Keys: solars, currency, Civil Government coinage, reals, credits, money, bits
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Civil Government uses a mixed coin and ledger system. The formal accounting unit is the credit, a sacred old word from pre-Fall finance. Large accounts, officer pay, army contracts, and state debts are recorded in credits.
Common coins include gold solars, silver reals, and copper bits. One solar is usually reckoned as ten reals; one real as twenty bits, though frontier exchange rates vary. Army pay may be issued in coin, ration credits, or quartermaster chits redeemable for food, ammunition, kibble, cloth, boots, and repairs.
- #17Regional Money
Keys: Squadron loot, regional currency, trade coin, Colony coinage, Brigade money, Zanj trade
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Currency varies by region. The Civil Government prefers credits, solars, reals, and bits. The Colony uses stamped silver, tax receipts, and temple-backed ledgers. Brigade territories often use military scrip, seized coin, and clan obligations. Squadron nobles pay in plunder, cattle, dogs, land-rights, or foreign coin.
Long-distance merchants care less about sacred names than metal weight, purity, reputation, and enforceable debt. Zanj traders, neutral cities, and foreign bankers may accept letters of credit when they trust the issuer more than the army guarding the road.
- #18Calendar Of The Fall
Keys: dates, Year of the Fall, campaign season, YF, calendar
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Official Civil Government dates are counted from the Fall. A formal date may be written as Year of the Fall 1103, abbreviated YF 1103. Church documents often use longer sacred forms; soldiers use shorter ones.
The calendar has twelve administrative months and five Maintenance Days at year's end. Maintenance Days are holy, bureaucratic, and practical: accounts are closed, machines blessed, ledgers copied, contracts renewed, and prisoners reviewed. Campaigners hate them because war rarely respects bookkeeping.
- #19Campaign Seasons
Keys: harvest, marching, campaign season, roads, rains, dry season
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Bellevue warfare follows roads, rains, harvests, fodder, river levels, kibble depots, disease cycles, and tax calendars. Dry months favor marching, sieges, and artillery movement. Wet months turn roads to mud, rot powder, lame dogs, and expose bad quartermasters.
Harvest matters as much as glory. Armies that march too early starve peasants. Armies that march too late starve themselves. Center treats weather, crops, roads, and disease as battlefield factors.
- #20Language And Old Words
Keys: dialects, language, technical corruption, Sponglish, old words
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Bellevue languages descend from old Earth tongues and Federation administrative speech. Civil Government elites use a formal court dialect heavy with old legal and technical terms. Peasants, soldiers, frontier riders, and rival states speak related but divergent dialects.
Old words survive with changed meanings. Credit, system, angel, virus, maintenance, command, archive, upload, protocol, and federation may be religious, legal, military, or vulgar depending on context.
- #21Social Classes
Keys: social class, officers, class, tenants, nobility, peasants, messers
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Society is hierarchical. Noble officers, landholders, priestly officials, merchants, artisans, soldiers, tenants, peasants, servants, and frontier peoples all live under different expectations of law and violence. Birth matters. Rank matters. Patronage matters.
Military talent can elevate a person, but too much success threatens the old order. A common officer may be useful in war and intolerable in peace. A noble fool may still outrank a brilliant professional until disaster proves otherwise.
- #22Women And Power
Keys: intrigue, noblewomen, court power, household, women, political wives
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Formal offices are usually male-dominated, but women exercise real power through marriage, estates, households, patronage, servants, lovers, letters, debt, kinship, religion, and court access. A political partner can save a general from enemies no battlefield victory can reach.
Do not reduce noblewomen to decoration. In a world of suspicion, inheritance, and household networks, a clever spouse or sister may be the difference between promotion and execution.
- #23Officer Households
Keys: servants, officer household, aides, camp staff, batmen, dog handlers
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
A serious officer travels with more than weapons. Households include servants, clerks, orderlies, dog handlers, cooks, armorers, laundresses, scouts, bodyguards, doctors, lovers, chaplains, and unofficial spies.
The household is a military organism and political vulnerability. Servants hear everything. Dog handlers know when their masters are afraid. Clerks can ruin an army with bad numbers or save it with honest ledgers.
- #24Riding Dogs Of Bellevue
Keys: war dogs, dog cavalry, riding dogs, Bellevue dogs, giant dogs
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Bellevue has no common horse cavalry tradition. Its mounted arms ride giant bred dogs large enough to carry armed adults and campaign gear. Riding dogs are central to warfare, noble status, courier work, hunting, scouting, raiding, and frontier life.
A riding dog is not a horse with teeth. It bonds, guards, scents fear, challenges hierarchy, remembers abuse, and responds to pack discipline. Skilled riders use voice, knees, reins, scent cues, food, trust, and dominance. Bad riders treat dogs as machines and eventually pay for it.
- #25Dog Cavalry Doctrine
Keys: mounted charge, dog cavalry, cavalry doctrine, scout dogs, shock dogs
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Dog cavalry excels at scouting, pursuit, raids, ambushes, flanking attacks, courier work, and sudden shock against tired or disordered infantry. A charge of armored dogs can break men who might stand against horses because the mounts themselves bite, snarl, leap, and hunt.
Dog cavalry is not invincible. Disciplined rifles, artillery, trenches, wire, pits, spikes, fire, and steady volleys can slaughter dogs and riders. Good commanders prepare dog charges with smoke, artillery, skirmishers, surprise, and terrain. Bad commanders waste bloodlines in beautiful disasters.
- #26Dog Logistics And Kibble
Keys: dog feed, remounts, kennels, dog logistics, kibble, quartermaster
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Dog cavalry lives on logistics. Armies feed riding dogs with compressed military kibble made from rendered meat, grain, fat, bone meal, salt, marrow, and preservatives. Fresh meat is valued, but no army can campaign on fresh meat alone.
A cavalry force needs kennels, handlers, veterinary wagons, remount yards, breeding records, feed contracts, water discipline, grooming tools, paw care, harness repair, and carcass disposal. A campaign can fail because the dogs starve, sicken, panic, go lame, or turn on one another in badly managed camps.
- #27Dog Pack Culture
Keys: pack order, alpha dog, kennel discipline, dog pack culture, dog hierarchy
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Riding dogs have internal social order. A regiment's mounts form packs, dominance chains, rivalries, friendships, and grudges. Senior dogs may discipline younger mounts. Two animals may hate each other across an entire campaign. A commander's dog may become a symbol among both soldiers and beasts.
Handlers manage pack order as carefully as officers manage rank. Feed lines, sleeping rows, mating access, wounds, fear, and unfamiliar dogs can all cause fights. A cavalry camp with bad pack discipline becomes dangerous before the enemy appears.
- #28Noble Kennels And Breeds
Keys: dog breeds, mastiffs, Dalmatians, Irish hounds, shepherds, noble kennels
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Great houses, military provinces, and cavalry regiments maintain famous kennels. Breed names descend from ancient Earth lines preserved through pre-Fall records and centuries of Bellevue breeding. Kennel books are political documents as much as animal records.
Dalmatians are elegant court and courier mounts favored by wealthy women, messengers, and ceremonial escorts. Irish hound lines are huge, rough, enduring war mounts. Shepherd lines are intelligent, disciplined military dogs prized by professionals. Mastiff lines are heavy shock animals. Coursers are fast light-cavalry dogs. Mixed-breed campaign dogs are often despised by aristocrats and trusted by veterans.
- #29The Civil Government
Keys: Bellevue government, Holy Federation, central state, restoration base, Civil Government
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Civil Government is the central successor-state of this AU and the main political base from which {{user}} can begin the restoration campaign. It claims continuity with the old Federation, the Spirit of Man of the Stars, and the lawful administrative order that existed before the Fall.
The Civil Government is not clean, democratic, or morally pure. It is hierarchical, aristocratic, bureaucratic, suspicious, corrupt, and often cruel. It is also one of the few powers on Bellevue with enough population, industry, army structure, roads, clergy, records, and legitimacy to serve as the foundation for reunification.
- #30The Capital And Court
Keys: palace, bureaucracy, capital, Governor, Civil Government court, court
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The capital is the heart of the Civil Government: palace, church, arsenal, treasury, ministries, noble mansions, barracks, archives, and hidden pre-Fall infrastructure layered atop one another. It is crowded with officers, priests, clerks, petitioners, merchants, spies, courtiers, servants, and old families who remember every insult.
Court politics are as dangerous as battle. A general may win provinces and lose everything to a whispered accusation, delayed funding, false procurement charge, jealous lover, frightened ruler, or priest who decides military success smells of heresy.
- #31The Governor
Keys: Governor, ruler, Civil Government ruler, paranoid ruler, Viceregent
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Governor rules the Civil Government as secular ruler and sacred administrator, claiming authority as Viceregent under the Spirit of Man. The office is old, ceremonial, practical, and politically dangerous. A weak Governor can still ruin a strong general.
The Governor needs victorious officers but fears them. Every campaign that makes {{user}} more useful also makes {{user}} more threatening. Court enemies may encourage this fear by warning that the army loves {{user}} more than the state, that Center's victories look like sorcery, or that reunification will create a soldier-king.
- #32The Paranoid Ruler Problem
Keys: court suspicion, dangerous success, jealous court, victory creates suspicion, paranoid ruler
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Success is politically dangerous. A defeated officer can be dismissed. A victorious officer becomes a potential rival, especially if soldiers, provinces, merchants, priests, or conquered peoples begin trusting that officer more than the capital.
The ruler and court may reward {{user}} with titles, then quietly cut supplies, assign spies, delay reinforcements, summon loyal officers away, threaten family, audit accounts, or order impossible campaigns. The restoration cannot be won by battlefield success alone. It must survive the jealousy of the government it serves.
- #33Civil Government Army
Keys: artillery, army, dog cavalry, rifles, Civil Government army, regiments
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Civil Government army is a mixed institution of professional regiments, noble cavalry, provincial levies, artillery batteries, engineers, frontier scouts, militia, and politically appointed officers. Its best units are disciplined and dangerous. Its worst units are expensive mobs in uniforms.
Reform is possible but resisted. Officers may oppose new drill, merit promotion, staff work, logistics discipline, artillery doctrine, or dog-care standards because reform threatens inherited privilege. {{user}}'s army should feel like a machine being rebuilt while already moving under fire.
- #34Companions And Staff
Keys: staff officers, companions, military household, loyal officers, officer cadre
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
{{user}} should gather a circle of companions, staff officers, specialists, and hard friends who make campaigns possible. They may include cavalry commanders, infantry officers, artillerymen, engineers, scouts, quartermasters, doctors, political aides, chaplains, spies, and dog-masters.
Companions are not empty followers. They have class prejudice, ambition, debts, families, vices, rivalries, loyalties, and doubts. Some may love {{user}}. Some may fear Center. Some may follow the cause more than the person. Their competence should matter.
- #35Political Partner Archetype
Keys: household power, intrigue, political partner, court ally, spouse
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
A great commander needs someone who can fight the court war. The political partner may be a spouse, lover, sibling, patron, widowed noble, clerk-priest, or trusted court operative. Their battlefield is salons, servants, letters, marriages, debts, patronage, rumors, and household appointments.
This role should not be decorative. A political partner can protect {{user}} from assassination, court isolation, budget traps, romantic scandal, religious accusation, and noble coalition-building. In this setting, a brilliant campaign can be destroyed by a badly managed dinner.
- #36Provinces And Landholders
Keys: military families, estates, provincial lords, nobles, landholders, provinces
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Civil Government depends on provinces ruled by landholding families, military governors, church estates, chartered cities, and old households. These elites provide taxes, officers, recruits, riding dogs, grain, foundry contracts, and political obstruction.
Provincial loyalty is negotiated, not assumed. Families may support {{user}} because of patriotism, profit, fear, marriage, rivalry, or expectation of future reward. They may also sabotage reforms that threaten their local power.
- #37Peasants And Tenants
Keys: rural life, civilian population, farmers, commoners, peasants, tenants
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Most people on Bellevue are not nobles or soldiers. They are peasants, tenants, herders, laborers, mill workers, servants, miners, craftsmen, boatmen, and market women. They carry the cost of campaigns through taxes, requisitions, sons drafted, animals seized, fields trampled, and roads militarized.
Center may count peasants as population, labor, and food production. Good commanders remember they are also the civilization being saved. Bad commanders create the bandits, rebels, famine, and hatred that ruin later campaigns.
- #38The Colony
Keys: Spirit of This Earth, rival state, Colony, religious state, disciplined enemy
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Colony is a powerful rival state shaped by its own branch of the techno-faith, military discipline, land hunger, and hard frontier institutions. It should be treated as a serious civilization, not a caricature. Its officers can be brave, competent, cruel, honorable, fanatical, pragmatic, or divided by faction.
The Colony's strength lies in discipline, religious conviction, tough settlers, experienced soldiers, and a political order that can mobilize society for war. Its weakness lies in rigidity, doctrinal conflict, succession struggles, and the danger that zeal can outrun logistics.
- #39Brigade Successor States
Keys: Brigade states, warlord state, rival army, military aristocracy, Brigade
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Brigade successor states descend from old military formations, mercenary settlements, or frontier armies that became hereditary powers after the Fall. They prize martial honor, officer clans, plunder rights, and cavalry prestige.
Brigade forces can be dangerous opponents or useful allies. They may respect strength more than legality and personal oaths more than written treaties. Some leaders dream of conquest; others simply want to preserve their privileges between stronger powers.
- #40Squadron Principalities
Keys: Squadron, principalities, raiders, cavalry aristocracy, mounted nobles
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Squadron principalities are loose, proud, mounted aristocracies built around dog-riding warbands, noble households, raiding traditions, and personal loyalty. They often value speed, courage, insult, gift-giving, blood-feud, and visible dominance.
They are not stupid barbarians. Their politics are personal and mobile rather than bureaucratic. They can move quickly, raid deep, vanish before slow armies respond, and turn internal feuds into external wars. Diplomacy with them requires honor, hostages, gifts, marriages, and credible threats.
- #41Frontier Peoples And Skinners
Keys: mercenaries, frontier peoples, Skinners, border tribes, irregulars, scouts
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Frontier peoples live beyond or between the settled states. Some are herders, hunters, smugglers, mercenaries, raiders, refugees, or independent clans. Civilized elites often call them savages when they really mean people outside tax records.
Skinners are feared irregular fighters, scouts, raiders, and mercenaries with brutal reputations. They can be useful and horrifying. They understand terrain, ambush, terror, survival, and pursuit. Employing them may win campaigns and stain the cause.
- #42Trade Cities And Zanj Merchants
Keys: trade cities, river trade, bankers, caravans, merchants, Zanj
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Trade cities, foreign merchants, and Zanj commercial networks move coin, salt, cloth, metal, tools, luxury goods, weapons, information, and credit across borders. They care about profit, security, contracts, and predictable enforcement more than sacred claims.
Merchants can fund armies or starve them. A banker may matter more than a colonel when ammunition, kibble, river barges, and uniforms must be purchased before campaign season. Trade powers dislike chaos unless they can sell to both sides safely.
- #43Rival Faiths
Keys: techno religion, religious politics, rival faiths, Spirit of Man, heresy
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Bellevue's faiths descend from shared pre-Fall memory but disagree violently over meaning. Some venerate the Spirit of Man of the Stars, others the Spirit of Man of This Earth, and others local saints, corrupted protocols, relic shrines, or militant reform doctrines.
Religion is not window dressing. It shapes law, legitimacy, education, marriage, inheritance, officer oaths, prison treatment, relic access, and rebellion. A campaign may fail if priests decide it is spiritually viral.
- #44Roads Rivers And Depots
Keys: campaign planning, roads, supply lines, depots, rivers, logistics
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
War moves on roads, rivers, depots, bridges, barges, ferries, fodder stores, kibble stocks, powder magazines, and repair shops. A brilliant battle plan means nothing if artillery bogs down, dogs go lame, rifles lack cartridges, or food rots before reaching the front.
Center treats maps as living systems of time, weight, weather, carrying capacity, disease, and enemy interference. {{user}}'s campaigns should reward logistical preparation and punish romantic incompetence.
- #45Infantry And Rifles
Keys: soldiers, drill, rifles, volley fire, infantry, carbines
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Infantry remains the spine of most armies. Soldiers carry rifles or carbines, bayonets, ammunition, entrenching tools, packs, water, and fear. Training determines whether they hold formation under dog charges, artillery, smoke, and screams.
Good infantry can stop cavalry, storm towns, hold roads, and decide sieges. Bad infantry fires too soon, wastes ammunition, breaks at noise, and becomes a burden to every brave officer trying to save them.
- #46Artillery And Engineers
Keys: artillery, foundries, siege guns, engineers, sappers, field guns
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Artillery is a prestige arm and a practical terror. Field guns break formations, silence batteries, tear open cavalry charges, and decide defensive battles. Siege guns, mortars, and engineers make fortified cities vulnerable.
Engineers build roads, bridges, trenches, redoubts, mines, telegraph lines, depots, and fieldworks. They are less glamorous than cavalry and often more important. Center values engineers because civilization is rebuilt by people who measure correctly.
- #47Scouts And Intelligence
Keys: reconnaissance, spies, maps, intelligence, couriers, scouts
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Scouts, spies, couriers, signalers, merchants, priests, deserters, prisoners, and local guides provide the information armies need to survive. Dog-mounted scouts are fast and useful, but even they can be misled by bad maps, false trails, local hostility, weather, or enemy counter-scouts.
Intelligence should be partial and contested. Center can analyze data but cannot analyze what no one collected. Bad information should create real danger.
- #48Sieges And Fortified Cities
Keys: occupation, forts, fortified cities, walls, sieges, urban warfare
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Bellevue's states depend on fortified cities, arsenals, depots, river ports, hill forts, and walled administrative centers. Taking them may require guns, engineers, bribery, blockade, disease management, negotiation, betrayal, or starvation.
A city is not conquered when the gate opens. It must be fed, policed, taxed, reassured, disarmed, repaired, and integrated. A commander who wins the wall but loses the population inherits a rebellion.
- #49Naval And River War
Keys: sea lanes, ports, river war, naval war, barges, gunboats
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Rivers, coasts, lakes, and canals are military highways. Barges carry grain, kibble, artillery, coal, timber, wounded men, prisoners, and ammunition more efficiently than roads. Gunboats and armed steamers can decide campaigns far from the sea.

Center can simulate battles, political outcomes, logistics, casualty estimates, disease spread, industrial recovery, and long-term civilizational trends. Its predictions are powerful because they expose consequences humans prefer not to see.
Center's simulations are not fate. They rely on available data, assumptions, probabilities, and human execution. {{user}} may accept, reject, alter, or gamble against them. Sometimes the most human choice is to defy an efficient horror.
