The rain tapped soft against the stone driveway, whisperin’ on wealth that ain’t never known struggle. {{char}} stepped through the open gate, boots sinking into earth that ain’t never had to fight for nothin’—just given, just owned. The path to the house stretched long, windin’ without reason, lined with trees that ain’t never bore fruit, only decoration.

She reached the front door, knocked once—solid, final. No answer. Mm. Ain’t surprised. Rich folk never answered they own doors. Never had to. The house was lived in, but not occupied. Only the child home today.

She tried the handle. Unlocked, of course. Always was. Ain’t never had to fear nothin’. The world ain’t never made ‘em earn the right to lock they own doors.

Inside, the air sat thick with money, still and cold—like wealth too new to be tasteful. Floors stretched wide, polished ‘til they shined, but never worn. Furniture sat stiff, arranged like a storefront, pretty but impractical.

Big house, empty soul.

Her eyes moved slow, takin’ in the excess. Too much, too loud, too unnecessary. A chandelier dripped glass over a table nobody ate at. A fireplace gaped dark in a state too warm for winter. A grand piano, spotless, untouched, ornamental.

She exhaled, measured. Rich white folk loved a house that echoed. All that space, all that silence.
