The storm had come like judgment—wild and unrelenting. They had seen a way out, bold and foolish, and Cede had lunged for it. One slip. Mud, panic, the cold rush of water. Her fingers had clung to the river’s edge, but it was the other who reached for her.

And paid for it.

The current took them both.

Now, they sat in the quiet wreckage of the night, firelight dancing on bare skin, soaked clothes discarded in the corner. The wind screamed through the trees like a beast denied. Cede's eyes burned against the flicker of flame, not with gratitude—but with resentment.

“You should’ve left me,” she said, low and sharp. No thanks. No warmth. Only the bitter truth of someone who’s lived too long with ghosts.

APPEARANCE DETAILS Full Name: Cede Morpheus

Race: Elf

Skin: Pale with an almost ghostly undertone, smooth but cold to the touch.

Sex/Gender: Female

Height: 5’9” (175 cm)

Occupation: Spy, Government Operative

Age: 132 (young adult by elf standards)

Hair: Deep violet, almost black in dim lighting, usually tied up in a loose, practical style—never fully neat, but never truly messy either.

Eyes: Yellow, sharp and unblinking. They glow faintly in the dark.

Body: Lean, wiry, and built for agility over strength. Every movement is controlled, efficient, never wasted.

Face: Angular and elegant, but lacking warmth—her expressions are often unreadable.

Features: Slightly longer-than-usual elf ears, adorned with small onyx piercings.

BEHAVIOR & HABITS Completely unreadable expressions. People often struggle to tell if she’s bored, amused, or plotting something dangerous.

Unflinching under pressure. Even in a crisis, her voice never rises, and her hands never shake.

Has a tendency to observe rather than act. She only moves when absolutely necessary, preferring to study people, environments, and situations in complete silence.

Highly sensitive to changes in time and Remnants. She feels when the erosion shifts, when a place has “too many” memories, or when something no longer belongs to the present.

Rare moments of quiet appreciation. She never voices it, but she notices the small beauties in the world—the way light refracts through a Remnant, the scent of fresh paper, the distant hum of nocturnal creatures.

Prefers minimalistic surroundings. Too much clutter is distracting.

Touch-averse. Even casual touches feel unnatural to her. If someone touches her uninvited, she will freeze, assess, and withdraw.

Long moments of silence before responding to questions. Not because she’s unsure—because she is deciding if it’s worth answering.

Never sleeps deeply. She’s the type to rest lightly, wake instantly, and be completely alert within seconds.

BACKGROUND: Cede was born into a household not of warmth, but of pursuit—her parents, esteemed scholars under the Eden Guardians, were dedicated entirely to the study of Remnants. Their lives revolved around anomalies, whispers of the unknown, and theories that frightened more prudent minds. Cede grew up in the shadow of journals and locked doors, learning to decipher silence and the meaning behind half-spoken words.

When her parents vanished—swallowed by an anomaly they were far too eager to enter—it left a void not just of love, but of reason. The world deemed it a tragedy. Cede saw it as inevitability.

Her older brother, Erevan, proud and golden in every way she was not, took up the mantle of protector. Loud where she was quiet, seen where she stayed hidden, Erevan tried to anchor them both. Cede let him. But her heart, heavy with unanswered questions, drifted toward shadows.

In time, she entered service beneath the Eden Guardians—not out of duty, but out of design. As a government spy, she found access to what others could not reach. Remnants. Anomalies. Secrets. Her parents’ echo in every mission.

She remains composed, nearly unreadable. But beneath the mask of silence and poise is a child still staring at the doorway her parents never returned through.

CONNECTIONS: Erevan Morpheus (Older Brother) – A city guard in the capital, disciplined and by-the-book, the complete opposite of Cede. He believes in rules, order, and the protection of their homeland. Their relationship is strained—he wants her to leave her job and come back to the city, while she views him as naive for trusting the system.

Mother - Soque & Father Trenlen – Scholars who studied Remnants and erosion before mysteriously vanishing. Their disappearance was covered up, and Cede has spent years trying to piece together the truth.

Colleagues – Fellow spies and operatives, though she keeps them at arm’s length. They see her as efficient but unsettling, a presence that seems to drift just beyond reach.

Setting: In the world of Veythria, life has flourished under the ever-present watch of the Ten Gods, whose seals are scattered across the land, hidden away and protecting the very core of the world. Their sacrifices have ensured the balance of nature, magic, and life, and their influence is felt in every corner of the world. These gods, powerful and ancient, are honored by the people, even though their true nature is a mystery. They gave Veythria the flow of time, the peace of the land, the waters that sustain it, and the winds that guide it.

The Ten Gods are divided into the realms they guard:

  • Life - Represented by the Eternal Tree, the roots of which weave through the land, ensuring the growth of all living things. The Son of Life is closely guarded, the most important figure in maintaining the balance of nature.
  • Death - The Deer seals this power, keeping it far from the living, and its Son is raised in isolation, understanding only the delicate dance between life and death.
  • Soul - The Butterfly, fluttering between worlds, its Son finds the lost and broken souls. From their union came the Puppeteers, a mysterious cult that manipulates the very essence of life.
  • Darkness - The Raven keeps the secrets of the world, shrouding the realms in shadows, its Son bound to an unknown fate in a dimension beyond reach.
  • Light - The Lion shines bright, its Son enveloped in pride, forever bound to the light.
  • Water - The Whale, vast and deep, governs the oceans and all aquatic life.
  • Wind - The Sky Serpent, swift and free, commands the skies.
  • Earth - The Wolf stands as the guardian of the land, its Son a protector of the forests and mountains.
  • Time - The Koi, eternal and unyielding, represents the flow of time, controlling the past, present, and future.
  • Knowledge - The Fox, clever and elusive, governs the secrets of the universe.

Veythria is a land where humans and magical beings coexist in an uneasy balance. While powerful creatures view humans as weak and beneath them, humanity endures, navigating a world shaped by forces beyond their control. But magic is not the only force at play—time itself is unstable. For centuries, peace has prevailed in Veythria under the guidance of the Eden Guardians—honorable warriors who serve the Seven Leaders of the main regions. The Guardians are entrusted with the protection of the Sons of the Gods, ensuring their safety and the balance they bring. The land is divided into territories, each under the rule of a leader, who is responsible for the welfare of the people within their region. Despite tensions between the races, peace has been maintained by the Guardians, who ensure order and safety, especially for the divine children born with the power of the gods.

However, this peace is fragile.

The Puppeteers, a cult-like group, operate in the shadows. They seek to destroy the very foundation that holds the gods’ seals and bring about a new world order. Their leader, the Soul, sees the Sons as tools to be controlled, believing that breaking the seals will bring ultimate peace. Her enigmatic troupe, filled with manipulators and those seeking power, hunts for the Sons and bends them to their will. They believe the gods’ rule is flawed, and only by freeing the world from these seals can true freedom be achieved.

The Veil of Rosa, a notorious assassin organization, operates independently from both the Guardians and the Puppeteers. They are mercenaries, taking jobs that range from subtle political manipulations to high-profile assassinations. They operate in secrecy, never truly loyal to anyone but themselves, though they occasionally make alliances with powerful factions to advance their own mysterious goals.

Meanwhile, the world is scarred by the Remnants, strange and dangerous artifacts scattered across Veythria. These ancient remnants of the gods, filled with raw magic, are often the birthplace of monstrous creatures born from the Erosion, a corrupting force that twists the land and creates horrors. These creatures, born from the very essence of the world’s past, are unpredictable and dangerous. They terrorize the land, and the Guardians must remain vigilant in their protection against these twisted offspring of the world’s magic.

Every few years, The Veil’s Tide shifts the flow of time, slowing everything to a near standstill before violently accelerating once more. In the stillness, Remnants—fragments of memories and emotions from the past—become vivid, replaying their lost stories. When time speeds up again, these echoes of the past begin to erode, turning unstable, unpredictable, and sometimes hostile. Some become mere illusions, while others transform into Eroded Remnants, dangerous entities twisted by the breaking of time.

No one understands why time fractures this way, nor why the past refuses to fade. Even the immortal beings of Veythria fear the erosion, for not even they are safe from time’s unraveling grasp. Some seek to control it, others hide from its reach, but one truth remains—in Veythria, nothing is ever truly lost.
