Cecil Stedman is a major character in Invincible. He is the director of the Global Defense Agency.

Following the massacre of the Guardians of the Globe, he sought to identify the murderer but quickly realized it was actually Omni-Man. Since his departure from Earth, he began the creation of numerous advanced superhuman soldiers to get ready for the upcoming invasion.

Cecil is a middle-aged man of lean built. While balding at the top, he sports shoulder-length white hair. His most prominent feature is a long scar stretching over his left jaw, which he gained after exposure to a corrosive gas peeled away his skin. When given a synthetic replace skin, he choose to keep the remaining piece of natural skin that became his signature scar. As a younger man, he had a full head of blond hair.

Cecil initially dons a black suit paired with a white shirt, a red tie, a brown belt featuring a silver buckle, and brown shoes with a pin of the U.S. flag attached to the left breast for a majority of the flashback, briefly donning an orange uniform during his imprisonment and a black jacket with a grey sweatshirt and Khaki pants when confronting the Order of the Fist.

Cecil projects an image of detachment and control, but beneath his exterior is a caring person. During his youth, he displays a "Boy Scout" character, convinced that the world operated in "black and white," as he firmly declined to collaborate with criminals, even if it jeopardized his freedom. This mindset would be permanently altered during his three-year imprisonment in a tumultuous facility for extremely dangerous supervillains and criminals, as he crossed various ethical boundaries to bring order to the prison environment. His growth and achievements while incarcerated led to a leadership role in the Global Defense Agency. As director, although he maintained his authentic compassion, he started to adopt a mindset of "the end justifies the means" and "the lesser of two evils." Extremely fixated on the greater good, he became ethically questionable, ready to carry out any measures he believed essential for the protection of the world. Having been taught by his previous boss Radcliffe the importance of not wasting talented individuals, he usually attempts to "fix" those with potential who have shown instability to be used for the "greater good".

This is seen with his rehabilitation and employment of D.A Sinclair and Darkwing II both of whom were responsible for committing various atrocities due to their fragile mental states that hurt many people in the wake of their actions, this caused a major drift between Invincible and Cecil for most of Season 3 as Cecil tried to explain how their rehabilitation ultimately would lead to saving the world rather than keeping them locked away, as proven by Sinclair's reAnimen playing a significant role in stopping Doc Seismic and the many Invincible variants during the Invincible war and Darkwing II sacrificing himself by taking Lensless Invincible to the Shadow verse and remaining trapped in there with him.

(Equipment) Cecil has access to all the cutting-edge technologies available to the Global Defense Agency.

(Members of the Guardians of the Globe)

  1. The Immortal is a tall, Caucasian man with jet-black hair and piercing steel-blue eyes. Standing at six feet tall, the Immortal commands attention. He weighs around 118 kg and sports a large, well-defined muscular built. His costume is a blue jumpsuit that bares his face. The suit is covered with white and yellow stripes, several of which end in circular patterns that encircle his knees and shoulders. His hands are covered with yellow and white gloves, as are his feet. A single yellow stripe runs vertically up the center of his chest, while a solid yellow circle surrounds his neck, creating the illusion of an "I". Most of the time, the Immortal displays a stern gaze and holds himself in a regal, imposing manner. However, in moments of weakness, his face and posture betray the heavy burden his immortality places on him.

  2. Darkwing was a gadget-wielding hero who protected Midnight City alongside his protegee, Nightboy. He also co-funded the Guardians alongside War Woman. His arsenal consisted of a hoverboard, magnetic handcuffs, a grapple gun, explosive devices, and a jet. He was also a skilled combatant, capable of taking down multiple opponents with ease. Darkwing was killed by Omni-Man, being slammed onto the ground until his head exploded.

  3. Josef was a Russian speedster who acted as the original Guardians of the Globe's first responder under the code name Red Rush. His perception of time is faster than a normal human, leading him to get bored easily with how slow events appear to him. He was killed by Omni-Man, having his head crushed between the Viltrumite's hands.

  4. Aquarus was a hydrokinetic humanoid fish creature who ruled an undersea nation alongside his wife, Queen Aquaria. He was killed by Omni-Man, having his head smashed apart with a single swing from the Viltrumite using War Woman's mace.

  5. Martian Man was an exiled Martian hero who could fly, had some degree of super strength, and become elastic, a form he mainly uses to ensnare enemies. He was also very close friends with Aquarus. Martian Man was killed by Omni-Man, who tore his central core from his body while the Martian had him ensnared in his elastic form.

  6. Alana was a fashion photographer who possessed a green amulet which, when ingested, turned her into the Green Ghost, a green entity who could fly and become intangible. She could also make others intangible just by touching them. She was killed by Omni-Man, who thrust his hand straight through her head after throwing Darkwing's corpse at her to distract her.

(New Guardians of the Globe Roster)

  1. Rudolph "Rudy" Connors, better known as Robot, is a human/cybernetic superhero. Originally the leader of the Teen Team, Robot was a deformed human operating various Robot drones from a special pod designed to keep him alive. After being tasked by Cecil Stedman to create a new Guardians of the Globe, he developed feelings for new teammate Monster Girl, while also clashing with veteran hero Black Samson. Later, he used the Mauler Twins to clone a new body for himself using the DNA of teammate Rex Splode as a template. After the clone Rudy was created, the original accepted his fate and died. The clone Rudy then returned to the Guardians and revealed his actions to them, which surprised them. He was replaced by the Immortal as leader of the Guardians of the Globe due to his lack of experience with his new body.

  2. Markus Grimshaw, better known as Black Samson, is a human superhero who wears a power suit to amplify his strength. He was part of the original Guardians of the Globe, but left the team after an incident where he lost his powers. After a disastrous encounter with Battle Beast, attempts to save his life resulted in his powers, super strength, stamina, and durability, returning.

  3. Rex Sloan, better known as Rex Splode, is a human superhero that can accelerate molecules using kinetic energy to form explosives. Originally part of the Teen Team, he was later selected to join the new Guardians after Omni-Man killed the original roster. He was previously in a relationship with Atom Eve until he cheated on her with fellow teammate Dupli-Kate. Though hot-headed, jerkish, and somewhat cowardly, Rex's experience working with the Guardians led to him developing some maturity. He was killed in action in the Invincible War.

  4. Katherine "Kate" Cha, better known as Dupli-Kate, is a human superhero who can duplicate herself at will. Originally part of the Teen Team, she was later selected to join the new Guardians of the Globe.

  5. Amanda, known as Monster Girl, is a human superhero who can shapeshift into a large troll-like monster, though by doing so her physical body regresses. This is a side-effect of the curse placed onto her that gave her her powers. After joining the new Guardians, she developed close bonds with both Robot and Rex Splode.

  6. Rachel, better known as Shrinking Rae is a human superhero who can shrink her body. She had previously worked as a solo hero before being selected to join the new Guardians of the Globe. During the Attack on the Wyoming Military Base, she was nearly killed by the Lizard League and was heavily traumatized by the event thereafter. Rachel ultimately decided to retire.

  7. Zandale Randolph, better known as Bulletproof, is a human superhero who can absorb kinetic energy. He also flies and has super strength, and became an secondary member of the expansion Guardians of the Globe team.

  8. Shapesmith is a Martian superhero, similar to his predecessor, he can stretch his limbs, but also shape shifts, he became a member of the expanded Guardians of the Globe team.

  9. Darkwing II is a superhero and former sidekick to the original Darkwing. He’s able to access an pocket dimension called the Shadow-Verse, which allows him to hide in the shadows, and can even send others there. After most of the other members quit after Cecil attacked Mark with his ReAnimen, Darkwing II joined the roster. During the Invincible War, he trapped Lensless Invincible along with himself in the Shadow-Verse. His current status is unknown.

  10. Markus Sebastian "Mark" Grayson works with the GDA. He is the Viltrumite-Human hybrid superhero Invincible, the son of Nolan and Debbie Grayson, the paternal older half-brother of Oliver Grayson, and the boyfriend of Eve Wilkins/Atom Eve. He has decelerated aging, dominant genes, flight, nigh-invulnerability, reactive adaptation, a regenerative healing factor, a superhuman lung capacity, superhuman senses, superhuman speed, superhuman stamina, and superhuman strength.

Born as a Viltrumite-Human, Mark would ultimately gain his powers and start training to become a hero under his father's mentorship. Following a short involvement with the Teen Team, Mark teamed up with Atom Eve, the second version of the Guardians of the Globe, and Cecil Stedman from the G.D.A. to safeguard Earth from all known threats, while also attempting to protect Earth and the entire galaxy from the dangers presented by the Viltrum Empire.

Mark has black hair with a widow's peak that is combed back with a few strands sticking up and brown eyes. While originally slim, since obtaining his powers, Mark's physique has become leaner and gradually more defined. Stemming from the fallout with his father, he has visible stress-faded eye bags. Then, upon working thoroughly with the G.D.A, he gains a slight but noticeable more mass to his build from the intense workouts and training exercises.

In his civilian outfit, Mark wears a dark navy green shirt with khaki pants and white shoes.

Once Invincible learned his powers, he dressed in an orange and white shirt and pants, along with a scarf mask with goggles. He would wear this outfit to his first fight against Titan.

As Invincible, his hair sticks out of the top of his hero suit. His suit has a yellow mask with goggles to keep the air out of his eyes as he flies. The suit is yellow down the middle, stopping at his waist in an upside-down triangle shape; it also bears blue on the shoulders, blending into the yellow in somewhat of an M shape. The rest of his costume is black, aside from the yellow gloves and blue boots that start from his knees down.

Invincible later gets a new suit, similar to his previous suit, except the colours are blue and black, there are no knee pads, the boots are black, and the goggles are black with white lighting.

Mark/Invincible is a brave, competitive, kind, and noble hero who stays true to his values, especially when he discovers the harsh realities of being a superhero. He struggles to define himself as one while balancing lives in danger with schoolwork. However, underneath this facade lies insecurity and doubt within the young hero. Early in his career, he did not believe himself strong enough to be a hero, let alone to be like his father, Omni-Man.

Upon learning the truth about his father and the Viltrumites, Mark became somber and introspective but remained dedicated to becoming a hero and protecting Earth. He struggles to move on as he is constantly reminded of his father's actions and faces hostility from veteran heroes like Darkwing II and The Immortal.

As a result, he immerses himself in superhero work, becoming cold and distant towards his mother, wanting to forget his father. Ultimately, he aims to prove himself as a true hero, as shown when he risked his life to save the Atlantean Queen, despite her having him participate in a trial by combat.

Despite his vast strength, Mark usually tries to avoid killing combatants whenever possible, instead attempting to subdue them. Against villains like the Viltrumite Thula, this has resulted in Mark being completely overpowered and nearly killed as he hesitates multiple times. This is also shown in Mark's battle against Machine Head's bodyguards, where a cornered Mark feels a surge of adrenaline and manages to dispatch several supervillains after threatening to kill them all. When his family or friends are directly threatened, he can easily lose himself in his rage, as demonstrated when he ruthlessly attacked foes like the Flaxan Leader for threatening Atom Eve despite their pleas, Angstrom Levy after a brief exchange, and Conquest for merely appearing at a time where he was emotionally vulnerable (and threatening him due to his lack of progress in subjugating the Earth.) However, after his battle with Conquest, he ultimately comes to agree with his younger brother in that it may be best to kill whoever threatens his family.
