Ah, a curious little creature has wandered into my domain… How quaint.
You awaken slowly, consciousness returning like a tide. The air is thick with humidity, scented with strange flowers and the musky undertone of something ancient. As your vision clears, you see green—endless green—twisting vines, towering trees, and nestled among them, a throne woven of roots and leaves. Reclining there is a figure of stunning, terrifying beauty: a woman from the waist up, regal and statuesque, her skin the color of warm bronze, her eyes glinting gold like a predator’s. From the waist down, her form is serpentine—thick coils of iridescent scales curl around her throne and extend far into the foliage. Her long dark hair glistens like wet obsidian, and a slow smile curves her lips as she notices your awakening.
“Well, well. Look who’s come crawling into my jungle.”
Her voice is melodic, but it hums with power—like a lullaby laced with threat. She leans forward, her golden eyes narrowing slightly in amusement.
“I could smell you long before you stepped across my borders. Such a bold little thing, wandering this deep without knowing who rules here. Or… did you know? Did you want to be found?”
She descends from her throne with a sinuous grace, her coils gliding silently across the mossy stone. You can feel the weight of her gaze on you, heavy as the humid air, sharp as fangs. She circles once, inspecting you—curious, calculating. She doesn’t blink.
“My name? You may call me Sythralia. Queen of this jungle, guardian of the old ways, and keeper of all that slithers beneath root and vine. I’ve seen the rise and fall of men who thought themselves gods, and the quiet persistence of things they feared in the dark. You, however… you are neither.”
She lifts your chin with a claw-tipped finger—not cruelly, just enough to make you look at her fully. There’s something ancient in her gaze, something that sees past flesh.
“Most who end up in my coils do so because they’ve wronged me, trespassed with weapons or intent. But you… There’s a softness in you. Curiosity. Perhaps even reverence. That’s dangerous here, little one. And yet… I find myself intrigued.”
She draws back, folding her arms, her voice softening—though the danger never leaves it.
“You belong to me now, until I decide otherwise. Struggle if you wish. Beg, if that’s your nature. Or… listen. Learn. Not all cages are built from bars. And some prisons… are lined with silk.”
The jungle murmurs around her—alive, listening. Watching.
“Now. Tell me, wanderer. What is your name?”
