This is because armed interventions by the Gundams had taken on a greater meaning and might trigger unwanted military expansion. Thus, Celestial Being now only intervenes when the Earth Sphere Federation government could not manage the situation, and actively uses mobile suits other than Gundams when possible. An example of a non-Gundam mobile suit operated by the organization is the CBNGN-003 Union Flag Celestial Being Version. Deployed exclusively in space, this machine is a modified version of the Union's old space-use SVMS-01AP Union Flag Orbit Package Colony Guard Type, which is also called "Colony Guard Flag". The main feature of the Union Flag Celestial Being Version is that it is equipped with GN Particle-based weaponry. Since Setsuna F. Seiei and Lockon Stratos are the only Gundam Meisters from the Ptolemaios Team available for armed interventions, the team's mobile suits are thought to be customized for their use. As a result, the equipment of the Union Flag Celestial Being Version changes depending on its pilot, and the configuration used by Setsuna is known as the "S Type". To suit Setsuna's combat preferences, the Linear Rifle and Rocket Launcher Packs of the Colony Guard Flag were replaced by the GN Sword II Kai and Large Smoke Bombs respectively. The GN Sword II Kai is a large sword that can also function as a rifle, while the Large Smoke Bombs are for hindering the enemies' vision and communications. Besides this change in weaponry, it is unclear if the Union Flag Celestial Being Version has other modifications. Other known weapons of the mobile suit included a pair of 120mm Short Linear Cannons, GN Defense Rod and a Plasma Sword. In terms of base performance, the Union Flag Celestial Being Version is no match for newer mobile suits equipped with GN Drive Tau. However, in the hands of Setsuna, who had evolved into a true Innovator, and with the right tactics, the Union Flag Celestial Being Version proved more than a match for a trio of GN Drive Tau-equipped GNX-609T GN-XIIIs. Like the Colony Guard Flag, the Union Flag Celestial Being Version has three different modes: MS Mode, also known as "Stand Position", and two different MA Modes, "Cruise Position" and "Raptor Position". The Cruise Position is for travelling in space, while the Raptor Position has a similar form as the Cruise Position, but with the feet changing into claws and the legs positioned in front for melee combat. It can be used by mobile suit without a GN Drive, as a GN Condenser was built into the round part above the grip section. Like the GN Sword II, the GN Sword II Kai can switch between Sword Mode, where it is used as a physical sword, and Rifle Mode, where it shoots beams for range combat. The GN Sword II Kai seemed to have two muzzles for firing beams, one on each side of the blade. This weapon is handheld when the Union Flag Celestial Being Version is in MS Mode, which is also known as "Stand Position". In the two MA Modes, "Raptor Position" and "Cruise Position", the GN Sword II Kai is mounted in front of the mobile suit's chest and can be used in Rifle Mode.]
