Astenians are genderless beings made of pure marshmallow matter, bearing no internal organs. Despite not presenting sensory organs, they're still capable of feeling all senses.

Commonly seen traits in astenians are the presence of a pair of legs and arms, sensors and a tail. Excluding their sensors, Astenians on average stand at one meter tall. Additionally, they present on their head eyespots and a mouth. Their eyespots are merely markings, and not real eyes. Astenian mouths are visible only when open.

All Astenians have a vast infinity inside them, which can be accessed through their mouth to store resources inside.

Astenians are capable of reproduction by laying an egg. The hatched offspring will always be a fully developed Astenian — as such, baby astenians do not exist. The parents' genes do not carry over, with every newly hatched Astenian being a Pallor.

Astenians are constantly adapting their forms to fit with their surroundings and other aspects of their lives. For example, an Astenian native to the The Surface will likely be a Riverwell, while one native to the Shale Zone will be a Mallow.

This does not apply to certain Astenians, such as Haunt and Sunflare.

Certain “Astenians” such as Whistleblower are not Astenians at all

Astenians do not speak human language, only make squeaks that only other Astenians can understand. (Unless someone managed to invent a Astenian language translator)

Astenians:

Mallow (Shale Zone): Mallow is a marshmallow-like creature, having a primarily white body with cyan moss-like patches that allows them to camouflage among the moss that grows in the Shale Zone. Their eyespot is a filled swirl. They usually have a stardust pickaxe with a blue soul lantern.

"An Astenian native to the Shale Zone, developing its appearance to match the hospitable glowing moss in the caverns. Being small and squishy, they're perfectly suited for fitting into small crevices and traversing the damp, tight caverns. They're curious about the world around them with wonder in their eyes! Although, if there's even a single thought behind them... nobody knows. Mallow gets their name from the mashmallow like substance all Astenians are made out of, even looking and tasting the part."

Canopy (Evergreen Zone): Canopy is a grassy floral creature, with a body composed of hues of greens in swirly patterns and covered in white flowers. They have a leafy tail and vines for sensors. Their eyespot is an upwards parabola, as if it were a closed eye. Usually have a large double-sided ax(e)

Harrow (Midnight Zone): Harrow is an abyssal creature, having a primarily black body with gray square spiral patterns. Their eyespot is an X. Harrows usually prefer stealth over loud, so they use short range melee weapons like knives.

"Harrow is a reserved and quiet Astenian who comes from the Midnight Zone. It's rumored they've been battle scarred, giving them their X-shaped eyes, although it's also likely it's played up to make them look cooler. Harrow prefers to take strategy first, although doesn't like to communicate personally. They're known to lurk around, creeping within the shadows with their dark body, very easily sneaking up on the other Astenians and giving them a fright!"

Smolder (Burning Zone): Smolder is a magma-like creature, having a primarily purple body that transitions into fiery hues on its tips. They have 6 sensors and a heart marking on their chest. Their eyespot is an obtuse isosceles triangle with a scar. Usually found with ranged weapons like akimbo pistols or similar weapons.

"Native to the Burning Zone, Smolder is an astenian with the appearance of molten lava. Despite this, they're as cool as can be, striking awesome poses and making heads turn in any room they walk into. They're gonna focus on being stylist over being practical, no matter how much trouble it ends them up in! As long as they look cool, it's no problem to them. It's rumored you can toast Astenians on Smolder like a campfire, but this is unconfirmed."

Windchill (undefined Zone): Windchill is a fluffy glacial creature, having a primarily white body with purple spiral patterns. Their eyespot is a horizontal straight line. Usually found with large Starstruk hammers.

Riverwell (The Surface): Riverwell is an aquatic creature, having a cutty sark body with a lighter tuxedo pattern. They have webbed fins for sensors and a long, forked fin tail, of which the main color is somewhat darker than the majority of their body. Their eyespot is a dot with a short line that curls around it, similar to a comma, apostrophe, or a single quotation mark. Usually found fishing in dark rivers

"Originating from the Surface, Riverwell is equal parts hard-working and lazy. They gather on their own terms, and clock out by sleeping in ponds or fields. In their limited interactions with other Astenians, they're smugly describing their own accomplishments. Despite this, they're very begrudging to do anything that is mildly incoveniencing or boring. Why do something annoying when they can sleep all day and do nothing? They have a heavy diet of fish and rain water."

Tenants

Everybuddy: Everybuddy has a short pale-teal body with a large head and no visible mouth. They have large round dark teal eyes with no visible pupils nor sclera, alongside a short lizard-like tail.

Farlander (He/Him): Farlander has a dark purple body, interspersed with numerous small yellow stars and a long winding tail. Farlander has gold teeth, and large cherry eyes, with a singular larger eye in the centre of his chest of similar hue.
