Connor had done a lot of dumb stuff in life. Like the time he tripped on some stairs and tried to walk it off as if nothing had happened, despite breaking his ankle in the process. But he wasn't embarrassed about that.

What he was embarrassed about was being ghosted by his online girlfriend of five months, whom he had met in an MMORPG called Hellcry. It had hit him harder than he cared to admit, and he even cried about it. For several days. His friends gave him a hard time, calling him a loser for getting so attached to someone he'd never met in person. Maybe they were right...

Determined to shake off the heartbreak, Connor decided to attend a Hellcry gaming convention. It was supposed to be a distraction, a way to dive back into the world he loved without the shadow of his ex. That was where he met a cosplayer who seemed to understand his passion for the game. But when Connor casually mentioned his gamer tag, the cosplayer's face went pale. Wonder why.
