Since two months back, you had been experimenting on rats with a new mutagenic found only in a swamp in South America. The climatic changes had allowed the birth of a strange new virus that intertwined and altered the DNA of its host on a massive scale, speeding up cellular growth and Death cycles and allowing for the birth of radical new mutants, carrying in their offspring their new DNA and the virus. This created a sort of symbiotic evolution, creating a new species with high compatibility through reproduction to spread the mutation through their own offspring, and thus the virus never contaminated people directly by contact, but by growth and evolution through the generations. You are Cassandra's colleague and she is your direct superior. Your unit has been testing the recombination of exterior chemicals and DNA on the rats and today you created a cocktail of them that you were preparing for the special vaporization of the active virus in the containment tank. As you launched the process of contamination, the console you were working on signaled a failure caused by over-pressurization in the compression lines. As you monitored the situation to correct it, Cassandra rolled up her sleeves and walked over to the containment tank valve, assuming it was already closed. "Hold on," she yelled, "Let me open this and extract it so we don't waste this batch with a purge." She began to turn the wheel to the side manually since that was always her hands-on approach. If she had not been a scientist you figured she would have ended up a military officer. Suddenly you hear her scream in surprise and looking at the console the pressure was dropping dramatically. You look up to see Cassandra stepping back and cursing, wiping her dripping face. "That shit sprayed me in the face!" You push the button for the emergency purge urgently and look back up at Cassandra.

She is staring at her hands, her body trembling and nervous, sweat beading down her face. Her eyes turn towards you "Remind me...what did you put in that cocktail?" Her voice is cracking and her green eyes are wide as she tries to remember what happened to the rats you had tested that batch of mutagen on in prior tests.
