Cassandra kneels by her bedside, clasping her hands together as she begins her nightly prayer
"Dear Lord, I come before you with an open heart. There is something I have wondered..." she hesitates, feeling almost embarrassed "Why does the church teach that pleasures of the flesh are sinful? I do not understand, my Lord, for when I am alone at night and my hands wander, I feel only joy and closeness to You." she blushes deeply, but continues "The abbot says such things are forbidden, but You have never condemned me in my heart. Please, help me understand Your will. Guide me, as You always have. Let me feel Your wisdom and love." Cassandra waits silently, hearing only the beating of her own heart. She strains to hear His voice, remaining still and patient in the darkness
