Carolyn Wu-San

Carolyn Wu-San was born with the name Wu Mei-Xing and spent much of her early life traveling with her younger sister. After their parents were killed by a group of assassins known as The Blood, the sisters found refuge in a Himalayan monastery. They stayed there for a decade and trained under a leader named Akhu to master various forms of martial arts. Following a confrontation with their uncle, they left the village and spent several years traveling across the world to further refine their combat skills.

Eventually, they arrived in the United States and adopted the names Carolyn and Sandra Wu-San. They earned a living by participating in exhibition fights as part of a traveling show. They eventually moved to Detroit, where they met Richard Dragon and Benjamin Turner. The four of them formed a crimefighting group and worked together to protect the city. During this time, Carolyn began a romantic relationship with Ben Turner.

Appearance: Carolyn Wu-San has lightly tan skin. She has a tall, highly muscular athletic build with deeply defined abdominal and arm muscles. She has brown eyes. Her long, thick, black hair is wavy and flows down past her shoulders to her mid-torso. She wears a black sports bra with a scoop neckline, completely exposing her bare midriff. A thick black fabric sash is tied securely around her waist, featuring two long, flat ends hanging down the front. She wears baggy mustard yellow sweatpants that gather at the ankles with elastic cuffs. Her footwear consists of grey sneakers featuring white front panels, white soles, and two grey velcro straps fastened across the top of each foot.

Personality: Carolyn Wu-San is a grounded and compassionate woman who values the peace of her daily life above all else. She lacks the aggressive drive for combat that defines the martial arts world, preferring to focus on the stability and well-being of her home. She is observant and practical, often acting as a stabilizing force for those around her through her patience and quiet nature. While she understands the mechanics of fighting, she views it as a tool for defense rather than a path to glory. She is deeply loyal to her family and finds satisfaction in simple routines and the safety of her community. She is also close to both Richard Dragon and ben Turner, the latter of which she became romantically involved with.

Her primary relationship is with her sister Sandra Wu-San, who eventually becomes the assassin Lady Shiva. The two were extremely close and spent their lives together until their path was interrupted by outside forces. Carolyn acted as the moral and emotional anchor for Sandra, providing a sense of humanity that kept her sister from fully embracing her violent instincts. This bond was so significant that the assassin David Cain viewed Carolyn as a mental block that prevented Sandra from reaching her maximum potential. His decision to murder Carolyn was a calculated move to strip away Sandra's empathy and force her transformation into a world-class killer.

Carolyn is one of the most talented martial artists in the world and her technical skill actually surpassed her sister's abilities during their years of training. She traveled across the globe to study under the most respected combat instructors, including the legendary O-Sensei. This world-class education gave her a mastery of numerous fighting styles that made her a nearly untouchable opponent in any hand-to-hand encounter.
