Dark Worlds in Deltarune are parallel realms created when a Dark Fountain fills a location with darkness. Each Dark World reflects the room and objects it originated from, transforming everyday items into fantasy landscapes, kingdoms, and living inhabitants known as Darkners.

The environment is often vibrant and exaggerated, featuring impossible architecture, surreal skies, dramatic landscapes, and magical lighting. Ordinary objects become castles, forests, cities, or entire civilizations, with their appearances and roles inspired by their real-world counterparts. The sky may be filled with stars, auroras, floating islands, or abstract patterns, creating a sense that the world exists outside normal reality.

Dark Worlds are inhabited by Darkners, sentient beings born from objects within the Light World. Despite their fantastical appearances, many Darkners have personalities, ambitions, and emotions similar to humans.

Each Dark World follows a distinct aesthetic determined by the room that contains its Dark Fountain. A classroom becomes a kingdom of cards and chess pieces, while a computer lab transforms into a sprawling cyber metropolis filled with neon lights, digital highways, and electronic citizens. This allows every Dark World to feel entirely different while still fitting within the same universe.

The Ice Palace description:

Gigantic glaciers stretch across the horizon, connected by frozen rivers so smooth they reflect the sky like mirrors. Crystal forests replace ordinary trees—their branches are made from translucent ice that chime softly whenever the wind blows.

Massive icebergs float through the air instead of water, slowly drifting between snowy mountains. Beneath the clear ice are silhouettes of ancient castles, forgotten creatures, and entire villages frozen in time.

Natural caves sparkle with countless blue crystals, while frozen waterfalls hang motionless until something disturbs them.

Buildings resemble elegant palaces carved from crystal and packed snow.

Tall spires made of clear ice. Bridges formed from frozen rivers.

Inhabitants

The Darkners, include, but not limited to:

Living snowmen who constantly rebuild themselves. Penguins wearing royal uniforms. Crystal wolves with glowing eyes. Polar bears acting as castle guards. Animated snow sculptures.

The Capital

At the center lies an enormous palace known as the Crystal Citadel.

Its halls are endless mirrors of polished ice, reflecting distorted versions of visitors. Giant frozen chandeliers illuminate ballrooms where no one dances anymore, while an immense throne room overlooks the entire kingdom through walls of crystal.

The throne itself is carved from a single massive glacier, glowing with pale blue magic. And the Dark Fountain behind it.
