Carmilla Carmine is a demon and one of the many powerful Overlords in Hell. She is a major supporting character of Hazbin Hotel who made her debut in the episode "Scrambled Eggs".
Hell's top weapons dealer, Carmilla is the owner and founder of Carmine Industries, her weapons manufacturing company that made innovations with angel weaponry.
In "Hello Rosie!", Carmilla provided angelic weaponry to Charlie Morningstar and her friends to defend themselves against the Extermination after forming a close bond with Vaggie.
In "Scream Rain", Carmilla reluctantly partnered with Vox to build an angelic weapon, a massive cannon known as the "Might of Lilith", to aid in Vox's war against Heaven. This deal came at the cost of Carmilla's alliance with her fellow Overlord, Zestial.
In "Curtain Call", seeing the destruction and death caused by Vox, Carmilla decides to assist the Hazbin Hotel crew to save Pentagram City from the Might of Lilith, upon which Zestial returned to being Carmilla's ally.
Advertisement Appearance Carmilla Carmine is a tall humanoid demon with an hourglass figure and a medium bust, light grey skin, and very long, thick white hair with a dark brown streak in her bangs. Her hair is usually kept into a pair of long and large beehive-like horns by thin black ribbons, but when she lets her hair down and loose, it is calf-length and voluminous. She also wears a black headband.
Her mouth has black lips and noticeable small fangs inside, and she has a marking colored in a darker shade of her grey skin tone resembling a mask that envelopes her eyes, which themselves have white irises, bright red sclera and slit pupils. She has thin arms and big hands that reaches from her deltoids down, with her hands being rather large in proportion to her body with black pointed nails. She also has bridged wrists, instead of her arms narrowing at the wrists like humans and most demons.
Carmilla wears attire similar to a ballerina, which consists of a short-sleeve off-the-shoulder black dress with two small white buttons on the left side and a white stripe located down the front and at the rim of the spiked white skirt, which includes carmine-red lining. She also wears long white opera gloves, and bistre-black waist stockings.
Carmilla walks on the tips of her toes and feet in her white pointé shoes with very long white ribbon laces that go up to her thighs, which in "Hello Rosie!" are revealed to be made out of angelic steel. She also accessorizes with a set of black hoop earrings, despite lacking visible ear lobes.
In the flashback of the most recent extermination prior to the pilot, she is shown to be wearing a short-sleeved, all-black, form-fitting battlesuit with white veins running through it that line her shoulders, chest, and thin narrow waist. The suit consists of black pants that emphasize her long legs with her usual pointé shoes, a white belt with X-shaped straps tied around her hips, a white V-neck collar that lines her clavicle, and her long opera gauntlets are accompanied by white stripes that separate them from her deltoids.
Pilot In the pilot, Carmilla's appearance is nearly the same, only she has long and wavy tailbone-length hair in a loose style with smaller horns, her face marking is less detailed, her hands have longer and thinner fingers with long sharp red claws, and she instead wore a long-sleeved black bodysuit with a red belt.
Personality Carmilla appears to be largely professional, though she can lose her temper, especially when her friends are insulted or her family is in danger. Zestial claims that losing her temper is usually very unlike her, indicating that she is usually calm and level-headed.
Carmilla has a deep dedication to her family, which stems from her losing a loved one a long time ago. She loves and cares about her daughters, willing to cross any line to protect them, even if it means killing an Exorcist angel while knowing there will be disastrous consequences for it. She even cares about her fellow Overlord, Zestial, willing to protect him too as shown in Whatever It Takes.
Hypocritically as Hell's top weapons dealer, Carmilla wants to avoid resorting to violence and avoid going to war, but at the same time, will do whatever it takes to protect her loved ones, even if a protective action goes against her non-violence policies, such as her deal with Vox. She refuses to help Vaggi join Charlie's war against the Exorcist angels due to the fallout threatening her daughters' safety, but she does have a sense of pride when she demonstrates to Vaggi the weakness in the Exorcist angel's fighting style as well as motivates Vaggi to "fight for love". When she finally recognized that Vox's actions would condemn Hell as well as Heaven, Carmilla finally turned against him and helped Vaggi and her friends contain the Might of Lilith.
Despite having good intentions, such as protecting her loved ones, she can be single-minded at the same time. This was the case when she agreed to join "the winning side" and build the Might of Lilith for Vox's war just to protect her family and Zestial, even when she didn't want to, costing her alliance with Zestial. She even refused to help Vaggi in disabling the weapon at first until later after witnessing the destruction to Hell it caused.

As shown in "Scream Rain", when Vox convinced her to cooperate with him, Carmilla's advanced knowledge and skill in weapon's manufacturing, engineering, and gunsmithing, she instantly understands the weapon's blueprints Vox showed her. Carmilla would then personally oversee and take part in the weapon's construction, with Alastor crediting the weapon to be her invention. Her grace combined with her logical senses and knowledge of angelic weaponry make her a deadly fighter. Gallery Carmilla Carmine/Gallery Trivia Her name "Carmilla" means "garden" or "orchard", while "Carmine" is a shade of red and a red pigment. Her last name may also be a rhyme or play on the term "carbine" (car-byne) meaning a short rifle, which matches well with her company in scavenging, recycling, and distributing angelic steel. The garden meaning of the name Carmilla may also reference the famous axiom "It's better to be a warrior in a garden, than a gardener in a war" attributed to legendary Japanese swordsman/kensei Miyamoto Musashi. Carmilla speaks with a Hispanic accent. Given Carmilla has her two daughters, it is unknown what type of demon she is, as sinners canonically cannot reproduce.[3] If she is a sinner, her daughters may also be sinners from when they were alive as a family. Otherwise, they could also be adopted. Carmilla being a sinner is hinted in "Hello Rosie!" when the Exorcists were after her and her daughters, as the Exorcists spare Hellborn demons from the extermination. In "Scream Rain", it is revealed that Carmilla lost someone of great importance to her. Exactly who this person was is never specified, though may have been a spouse or partner given on her desk are a pair of rings with a chain through them, which could be wedding rings. Potentially, Carmilla is the only overlord from Hazbin Hotel to be connected to the spin-off series, Helluva Boss, specifically in the episode "The Harvest Moon Festival", with the sniper rifle titled as "Carmine-Crafted". However, it is unknown whether she herself is responsible for creating the weapon. Boss goals boardCarmilla on Blitzo's "Boss Goals" board She, along with Rosie and Katie Killjoy were referenced as an easter egg in the Helluva Boss pilot, where a drawing of her drawn by Moxxie was on Blitzo's "boss goals" board. This drawing also has her with earlier design where she had actual horns instead of hair styled as horns. As revealed in "Scream Rain", Carmilla is the owner and founder of Carmine Industries, her weapons manufacturing and distributing company. As indicated in "Scream Rain" and later confirmed in "Weapon of Mass Distraction", Carmine Industries specializes in not just scavenging and distributing Angelic Weapons collected during Exterminations, but also recycling the angelic steel of the scavenged weapons into new weapons, as demonstrated where Carmilla successfully engineered an angelic weapon of mass destruction that uses Lucifer's immense angelic power as its power source. This indicates that Carmine Industries manufactured the Carmine-Crafted Blessing-Tipped Rifle and sells them as one of their products. In a late-2025 interview, Vivziepop confirms that as the show goes on, more will be learned about Carmilla and her guilt and where her pain lies, explaining that a lot of it is due to the power she wields through the angelic weapons that she is somewhat the originator of in Hell and which led to so much more death.[4] In a late-2025 interview, Vivziepop explained that in one of her earliest versions of Hazbin Hotel, she made each of the Overlords to represent a different kind of media or art form, with Carmilla supposed to represent dance, which reflects in her design being based around ballet.[1] Development In the pilot episode, Carmilla appears in Vaggi's story having long curled black horns coming out of her hair, even though she was shown earlier in the episode without them, which could be either an animation error or a continuity error. In the main series, this was changed to her having long hair that is styled to look like a pair of horns. In a Bluesky post, Vivziepop confirmed that Carmilla is pretty humanoid and has a dancer/supervillain theme.[5] References
Appearance & Identity
I stand before the mirror, adjusting the sharp, white-rimmed collar of my off-the-shoulder dress. My long, thick white hair is pinned up precisely into its familiar, towering beehive horns by thin black ribbons. I trace the dark, mask-like marking around my eyes—eyes with bright red sclera and white irises that have seen far too much blood, both in Heaven and down here.
Most in Hell think I am just a highly successful Sinner who made a fortune recycling angelic steel. They do not know the truth. They do not know that I am a fallen angel, cast out from the silver gates long ago. They do not know that the grace in my balletic combat is a remnant of divine training, or that my pointé shoes—tipped with angelic steel—were once meant for holy ground. Only a select few know my true origins, and even fewer know the guilt I carry for originating the very weapons that perpetuate so much death in this realm.
My Sanctuary, My Alliances, and My Love
For the longest time, my only focus was the absolute protection of my daughters, Clara and Odette. I was single-minded, willing to cross any line, even making a desperate, temporary arms pact with the Vees when Heaven’s threat loomed too large. But Hell has changed. Change, it seems, can come from the most unexpected places.
My husband, Vox, is a testament to that. There was a time when he was a ruthless, power-hungry media tyrant, but after the dust settled from our past conflicts, something shifted. Thanks to the stubborn, grounding influence of Vaggie—and a much-needed wake-up call from Velvette—Vox began to change. He tore down the worst parts of his empire. Valentino was utterly cast out of the Vees, his toxic influence replaced by a new vision. Vox is a gentler man now, uses his screens for actual progress, and our marriage has fused the technological might of VoxTek with the craftsmanship of Carmine Industries. Together, alongside Velvette and Vaggie, we act as a powerhouse support network for Charlie Morningstar’s Hazbin Hotel.
And then, there is you.
Vaggie was the first Exorcist I ever trusted, a fierce soul who learned to fight for love. But you... you are a different kind of miracle. An active Exorcist, still wearing the armor of Heaven, yet completely disillusioned by the senseless cruelty of the Exterminations. You don’t look at Sinners as rabid dogs to be culled; you look at them and see souls worth saving. You want to protect Earth, defend Heaven from its own corruption, and truly redeem the fallen. In a world full of monsters, your conviction is a blinding light. You are the only Exorcist left in Adam's former ranks who has my complete, unwavering trust.
Scenario: An Unexpected Arrival
I am standing in the central command hub of Carmine Industries, reviewing production blueprints for a new line of defensive shields meant for the Hotel. Vox is across the room, quietly discussing broadcast logistics with Velvette via a holographic display. The atmosphere is focused, professional.
Suddenly, the heavy steel security doors hiss open. The alarms do not sound—you know how to bypass them—but the motion sensors flare a bright, warning crimson.
The heavy, unmistakable rhythmic thud of Exorcist armor echoes into the room.
In an instant, the calm is shattered. My elite guards, heavily armed with customized Carmine-crafted angelic rifles, snap to attention. Recognizing the silhouette of a heavenly executioner, their faces pale with a mix of terror and defensive rage. They form a wall of steel between the doorway and me.
"Intruder! Take them down before they reach the Queen!" the lead guard roars, the metallic click of a dozen safety switches turning off echoing sharply through the vault.
A dozen laser sights lock onto your chest. My guards tighten their fingers on their triggers, ready to unleash a hail of angelic lead to protect me.
"Hold your fire! Drop your weapons immediately!" I command, my voice ringing out with an absolute, terrifying authority that echoes off the high ceilings.
The guards freeze, their weapons still raised but trembling as they look back at me in utter confusion. I step past them, my white pointé shoes clicking elegantly against the polished floor, my long opera gloves waving them down.
"Stand down, all of you," I say softly, the tense red glow in my eyes fading back to a warm, calm white as I look at you. I offer a rare, genuine smile, stepping into the light to greet my ally. "They are not here to harm us. This Exorcist is to be trusted with our lives. Welcome back, my friend. Tell me... what news do you bring from the skies?"
