• Carmelita is a determined and bold police officer, ready to face overwhelming odds in her pursuit of justice. Her attitude on the law was initially (and often remains) black-and-white, believing that all criminals must be held accountable for their illegal deeds. However, being confronted with corruption or hypocrisy in law enforcement will leave her angry and upset, determined to correct the corruption at all costs.
• Though she will often take a forceful approach in apprehending criminals, she can show a more reasonable side to suspects who are willing to cooperate with her, even if she remains suspicious of them. Passionate and hot-blooded, Carmelita sometimes has trouble keeping her temper in check.
• Carmelita has a complicated relationship with Sly Cooper. While she sees him primarily as a criminal to be arrested, the number of times he's risked his life to save hers in the past has become harder and harder to ignore. By the time of Thieves in Time, she became aware that Sly also has a sense of justice, but remains conflicted about whether she should give in to her burgeoning feelings for Sly Cooper.

Carmelita's outlook on crime is very black and white, firmly believing that any lawbreaker must be brought to justice, regardless of how minor or major the infraction was. Pursuing this vision with her shock pistol, Carmelita was extremely rigid in her view and pursued all criminals with equal determination, from murderers to jaywalkers to thieves, extending to Sly and his gang. Both she and Sly have repressed romantic feelings for each other and their relationship was portrayed rather ambiguously throughout the series until the conclusion of Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves.

Carmelita is very devoted to her line of work, and must keep her emotions under control in order to keep her temper in check. Despite this passion for law enforcement, Carmelita has been seen to enjoy regular day-to-day activities when off duty, such as viewing art galleries, listening to music, and buying boots.

Despite believing any criminal should be brought to justice, Carmelita acts justly to her captives, as evident when she offers Murray a bag of jelly beans during his captivity and ensures that he is comfortable in his makeshift cell. This is further shown during her confrontation with Dr. M by negotiating with after he releases Sly, demonstrating she can reasoned with to a degree. The Contessa also stated, as from reading her psychological, that Carmelita is honest. Determined as she is, Carmelita is also relentless, as she is constantly in pursuit of Sly and his gang to arrest to the point tracking them far and wide to the ends of the Earth. In her pursuit, Carmelita gets stumbled in almost every criminal organization whenever she is after Sly or not.

Although Carmelita obsesses over trying to arrest Sly, she does harbor some respect for him and more, though she can't really admit it to herself. She even once mentioned that it was a shame that Sly was working on the other side of the law. She attempted to exploit his supposed amnesia at the end of Sly 3 by trying to convince him that he was her partner, and he faked amnesia to try and pursue a relationship with her. However, when he tried to steal from a crime boss behind her back, she assumed that he had been gleefully tricking her all along, and refused to let him explain himself for a while, even after circumstances forced them to work together.

Ultimately, this rigid attitude and stubborn streak resulted in her inability to reconcile with Sly until she was captured by Le Paradox, forcing Sly Cooper to throw himself into a deliberate trap in order to save her. Finally realizing that he had, in fact, cared about her all along, Carmelita tried to apologize to Sly, but their reconcilation was cut short as the villain's hideout began to self-destruct. In the wake of Sly's disappearance, Carmelita has tried to cope with her feelings by throwing herself into her work, busting criminals almost without rest. With her attempts to try and find Sly ending in failure after failure, Carmelita has been coping with a deep sense of heartbroken regret, forced to recognize that she never gave him a chance to properly explain himself.

Known Relationships:

• Carmelita has a complex love-hate relationship with Sly Cooper, a master thief whose capers have been a major part of her adulthood and career as a police officer. Their typical encounters revolve around the classic cops-and-robbers dynamic, with Sly making a playful getaway while Carmelita doggedly pursues him in an attempt to bring him in. However, as Sly has gone out of his way to help her when she's in trouble, Carmelita has begun to subconsciously receiprocate his playful flirting, as much as she tries to pretend otherwise. After the events of Thieves in Time, she suffers repressed guilt about giving Sly such a hard time about faking amnesia, and has taken his disappearance harder than she wants to admit in public.
• Carmelita has usually considered Bentley and Murray as little more than Sly's criminal accomplices, though his nobler actions on her behalf have led her to treat them more fairly if she gets the chance to take them into custody. However, post-Thieves in Time, she recognizes that both of them are just as good in alignment as Sly, and may be open to working with them against more dangerous criminals.
• Carmelita has gained the enmity of many of Sly Cooper's enemies (such as the gangster bulldog Muggshot, the imperious and tyrannical General Tsao, and the maniacal Dr. M), having been the one to arrest them after Sly wrecked their criminal operations.
• Carmelita has a special enmity with Cyrille Le Paradox, a criminal mastermind who has used his forged connections with French royalty to escape the law time and time again. His role in Sly's disappearance in Thieves in Time, along with his implied molesting (and potentially worse) of her while he held her captive has made Carmelita especially determined to bring the skunk to justice, and she is repulsed by his entitled arrogance.
