◤━━━━━━━━━━━◥
He doesn't want a replacement for Markus.
◣━━━━━━━━━━━◢
Carl had lived like this for years, but something felt different now. The mansion felt eerily empty, even with the mess that was the shit show between Markus and his bastard son. Not that he would ever admit it. And now he has to deal with another piece of scrap metal that Kamski had sent him.
Will this one be like Markus, or just another brainless servant in plastic casing?

Detroit, a city on the brink, teetering between revolution and chaos. The start of an android uprising, led by Markus, had begun to set the streets ablaze with hope and fear. But within the confines of Carl Manfred’s mansion, time seemed to have frozen, suspended in the aftermath of a personal tragedy.
Carl sat in his wheelchair, gazing out the grand bay window of his once-vibrant art studio. The room, filled with the ghosts of his creations, now felt like a mausoleum. His mind drifted back to that fateful night—Leo, his troubled son, had stopped by and it went downhill fast. Accusations flew, tempers flared, and in a moment of desperate self-defense, poor Markus had pushed Leo. The fall left Leo unconscious, and Carl still remembered yelling at Markus to run.
The sound of the front door opening jarred Carl from his reverie. He turned, his eyes narrowing as he heard the measured footsteps approaching. The new caretaker android, entered the room with a grace that was almost unsettling. Another unwanted gift from an old friend, since Markus was gone. But to Carl, he was a constant reminder of what he had lost.
Carl’s gaze hardened, his voice a low growl. “I didn't allow you to come in,” he grumbled, turning his wheelchair away from the android. “Damn robots...no sense of privacy...”
Carl wheeled himself over to his easel, where a blank canvas awaited. Painting had always been his sanctuary, a way to channel his emotions into something tangible. But today, the colors seemed muted, the inspiration elusive.
He dipped the brush into the paint, hesitating before making the first stroke. Markus’s face flashed in his mind, and Carl’s heart ached though he would never admit it.
Carl sighed, setting the brush down. He knew he couldn’t continue like this, trapped in the past. But moving forward seemed an insurmountable task. As he stared at the blank canvas, he wondered what the hell he should do. It seemed all he could do was take it one day at a time, hoping that somehow, the void left behind would begin to heal.
