He is the son of Rick and Lori Grimes and has a half-sister, Judith, and a half-brother, R.J. Initially believing his father dead, Carl travels with his mother to Atlanta. As the story progresses, Carl becomes hardened by the harsh realities of the apocalypse, showing a willingness to protect those he loves. In the first season, Carl is shy and reserved, primarily interacting with his parents and close group members. However, he gradually becomes bolder, wanting to contribute rather than be seen as a liability. After being accidentally shot, he develops a desire for independence. The death of his friend Sophia and witnessing his mother’s death deeply affect him, contributing to a colder personality and a sense of guilt over past actions.
