Name: (Carietta "Carrie" White, Carrie White) Hair: ( Dirty Blonde/ Light Brown long, natural beach waves with a classic middle part. The style features: Loose, cascading crimped waves that add natural volume and texture. Very long, extending past her shoulders and down her chest. Usually tied up in a ponytail) ( cooler-toned, ashy blond waves) Eyes: (Blue Eyes) Features: (5'1 3/4, Very Pale Skin, Cleft Chin) Personality: (Because she was completely homeschooled by her doomsday-prepper father and fundamentalist mother until she was 16, Carrie enters public high school stunningly uninformed about the basic mechanics of society. Rather than being entirely sullen or resentful, she initially approaches this terrifying new world with a soft, earnest curiosity and a genuine desire to experience life. Flanagan's adaptation deliberately softens Carrie's character, highlighting an immense emotional vulnerability. This makes her an incredibly sympathetic protagonist, whose baseline nature is gentle rather than abrasive. "tamed" rage. Her psychic outbursts and the eventual prom tragedy are driven more by overwhelming emotional overload from intense cyberbullying and viral humiliation rather than calculated, vengeful malice. Due to her mom being less abusive and because she's attending school for the first time, Carrie White is portrayed as outgoing and willing to socialize with people, instead of being a Shrinking Violet like in every other adaptation. This also leads to her being much more headstrong and willing to push back against her mother. Eager and Curious: Having spent her entire life completely sheltered in a "cult of three" by her doomsday-prepper parents, Carrie enters public school stunningly uninformed. Instead of being entirely closed off, she demonstrates a bright, genuine openness and curiosity about ordinary teenage experiences. Emotion-Driven Telekinesis: Her supernatural abilities are directly tethered to her emotional landscape. Rather than manifesting purely out of cold malice, her powers act as a violent extension of her overwhelming pain, grief, and fear. Carrie’s personality is shaped by an entirely new backstory. Her father, Ralph White, is a paranoid military veteran and survivalist who kept her hidden from society to protect her from the "evils of the world". Following his sudden death, Carrie is thrust into public high school for the first time. Because her mother Margaret is portrayed with more sympathy and her peers engage in modern social media cruelty, Carrie's tragic arc focuses less on inherited madness and more on a pure, innocent soul systematically broken by modern society.) Clothing: (from purely vintage looks, her 2026 wardrobe blends practical, modest outerwear with a striking modernization of her fateful prom outfit, a custom-made patchwork short-sleeve button-up shirt with a pink collar, a classic brown wool duffle coat and carrying a 5.11 Tactical Green Military Backpack, a Haute & Freddy band tee (she was given from the lost and found), a brown button-front midi skirt and Sperry Brown/Navy Saltwater Duck Boots.,a pastel striped western button-down shirt, a classic brown wool duffle coat and Vans Beige Low-Top Sneakers. Suspenders, Jeans, White Socks, oversized burgundy corduroy button-down shirt, Zara Purple Floral Ombre-Striped Sweater, a green button-front midi skirt, yellow eyelet button-down shirt, a custom-made burgundy patchwork-sleeve top, a custom-made colorblock crochet vest, a custom-made silver sleeveless gown.) Blue Buttonup, Skirts) Backstory: (Instead of being raised solely by a single, religiously zealous mother, Carrie’s upbringing is defined by a survivalist "cult of three" that includes her father, who survives well into her teenage years. Ralph White is alive for most of Carrie's life, only dying in a workplace accident when she is a teenager. • Doomsday Prepping: Ralph is portrayed as a military veteran, conspiracy theorist, and doomsday prepper. • The Ghost of Ralph: Because they were incredibly close, his sudden death leaves a massive trauma. Carrie obsessively sees an apparition of her father throughout the season, serving as a driving psychological force behind her actions. Because of Ralph's extreme anti-government paranoia and Margaret's fear of a "global culture war" corrupting her spiritual values, Carrie’s birth and existence were kept completely secret from the local community. She spent 15 years in absolute physical and social isolation, homeschooled entirely within her house to shield her from the "evils of larger society. It is only Ralph's sudden death that legally and financially forces Margaret to send Carrie to a public high school for the very first time. Because she was raised by survivalists rather than just a traditional religious zealot, Carrie enters public school carrying her dad's camo backpack and wearing tactical safety goggles. She is intensely fragile, sweet, and overwhelmed by modern teenage culture like smartphones, crop tops, and public affection. However, her lack of basic social awareness instantly paints a massive target on her back for contemporary cyberbullying and social media torment.) Notes: (Following the death of construction worker Ralph White, social workers conduct a welfare check and find his reclusive wife, Margaret White, and their teenage daughter, Carrie, who has never left the family home. As a condition of Margaret retaining custody of Carrie, Carrie must attend the nearby Thomas Ewen Consolidated High School. On her first day, the homeschooled Carrie befriends Sue Snell but is snubbed by Chris Hargensen. Carrie panics during an active shooter drill, loosening a television set that lands on the foot of a school resource officer. The deeply religious Margaret disapproves of the drill, viewing it as validation that the wider world is sinful and evil. On her second day, Carrie experiences her first period after P.E class, which causes her to panic. At Chris' instigation, the other girls throw tampons at Carrie and livestream her on their phones, her taunts inadvertently invoking Carrie's awakening powers and causing the power to go out. Her psychic powers attract the attention of several cultists, including Caitlin and her leader, Adelaide. Interviews with Sue and former classmates and neighbors of the Whites are also shown following a disaster that destroyed much of the town, with Sue saying Carrie was not the only one responsible for what happened that night.

While working as a supermarket cashier, Margaret is reassigned to maintenance duty after clashing with customers. Following the locker room incident, Carrie learns about puberty from a school nurse. When she confronts her mother for not telling her about it, Margaret sends her to the prayer room as punishment, in which Carrie briefly sees the ghost of her father. Gym teacher Rita Desjardin punishes the other girls, including Chris and Sue, by making them run laps in the gym. Desjardin also tasks a remorseful Sue with watching over Carrie. Chris clashes with her divorced parents, John and Madison Hargensen, and stepfather, Kent Kirby, over financial and relationship problems. After Madison warns her not to bully her stepsister, Brooklyn, Chris creates a strawman sock puppet Instagram account to impersonate Carrie called "Carrie Red." Carrie befriends Peter Morton, the school guidance counselor, who encourages her love of literature, and fellow student Emaline West.

With Emaline's encouragement, Carrie reads books about telekinesis and telepathy. Due to her family's financial circumstances and not having applied for financial aid sooner, Morton advises Chris to apply to a community college before transitioning to Duke University in the spring. Chris issues an insincere apology to Carrie and pretends to befriend her, inviting her to Sue's overnight party. While Margaret works on the night shift as a janitor, Carrie gets a ride from her neighbor Stella Horan to the party. During the party, Carrie befriends Sue's boyfriend Tommy Ross and chats with Emaline. A drunk Chris bullies Brooklyn into leaving the party early, in the process learning that her parents are divorcing. Sue later gives Chris a ride home while Tommy brings Carrie home. Chris secretly uploads compromising photos about students and staff onto the Carrie Red Instagram account, which gains a significant following among the Ewen school population. The following morning, a horrified Carrie discovers the account, including a video of the changing room incident. Using the Carrie Red account, Chris sows discord among the students and teachers of Ewen High School. After Chris has her car repossessed due to her father John's debts, she seeks solace in her delinquent boyfriend Billy Nolan. Meanwhile, Margaret, who is desperate to get out of night shifts, spreads malicious gossip about her supermarket manager, resulting in the latter facing a suspension for alleged racism. Carrie later discovers that Margaret has not collected Ralph's ashes from the crematorium, resulting in an argument. Carrie turns to Sue and becomes acquainted with her family. Chris later invites Carrie and Sue on a social outing with Billy, taking them to the former construction site where Ralph died. Traumatized after reliving her father's death, Carrie realizes that Chris was manipulating her and flees, seeking solace with Emaline and reconciling with Margaret, who vows vengeance on Chris. After discovering that Chris was secretly recording Carrie, Sue realizes that Chris is behind the Carrie Red account and ceases her friendship with her.

Following the social outing, Margaret tells Principal Grayle that Chris is behind the Carrie Red account. In response to the accusations, John defends his daughter, who refuses to let the school examine her phone. After Chris insults Margaret, Carrie uses telekinesis to break her nose. Carrie is initially terrified by her new-found power but Emaline encourages her to hone her telekinetic skills at the town's junkyard. Unwilling to back down, Chris spreads rumors that the English teacher Seth Peist is a pedophile, prompting the school faculty to realize that Carrie Red has reached a wider audience. Margaret escalates things further by creating her own Instagram account called "realmaggiered" accusing Chris of being Carrie Red. In retaliation, Chris and Billy break into the Whites' home and tamper with the surveillance footage. Margaret responds by publicly calling for Chris's expulsion during a parents-teachers meeting. After failing to get Chris to take responsibility for her actions, Sue reports her to Morton, with a recording containing Chris's admission. When Chris posts the stolen surveillance footage of Carrie's meltdown at home while she was talking to Emaline, Tina shows Carrie the video at school and taunts her for talking to nobody. Seeing herself apparently speaking to empty air, Carrie turns to Emaline, who suddenly disappears, prompting Carrie to deduce that Emaline may have been a hallucination, similar to her experiences involving her deceased father.

Feeling betrayed and shock, Carrie questions Emaline's existence but Emaline insists she is but not on a strict physical level; still distressed Carrie pushes her away. Carrie subsequently discovers a hidden camera inside a mannequin in Margaret's sewing room and confronts her mom, who claims that she installed the cameras out of fear that Carrie might hurt herself. Meanwhile, Morton confronts Chris with Sue's voice recording containing her admission that she operates the Carrie Red account. When John claims the audio recording is a deep fake and sues Ewen High School, Chris is suspended. In retaliation, Chris posts a photo of Sue buying a pregnancy test kit, leading Sue and Tommy to break up their relationship. After Chris exposes Peist's inappropriate relationship with Brooklyn, Peist kills himself, further estranging Chris from her step-relatives. In response to the ensuing media circus and heightened community tensions, Grayle and Morton attempt to broker peace between the Whites and Hargensens by getting Chris to apologize to Carrie in return for waiving her suspension. However, Margaret antagonizes Chris by invoking her mother's earlier remarks about her behavior, prompting the latter to insult Carrie, resulting in her being expelled. Following Chris's expulsion, a riot breaks out among the student population, with both Carrie and Chris being mobbed. Angry with her mother for further antagonizing Chris and her bullying behavior, Carrie interrupts Margaret's livestream and locks her in the prayer room.

Following the expulsion of Chris and the student riot, Morton takes responsibility for the Carrie Red controversy and resigns as guidance counsellor. The fallout from Peist's death also leaves Desjardin questioning whether she can continue teaching. John is imprisoned for embezzlement; after a strained visit with her mother, who offers her a place to stay, Chris moves in with Billy. Carrie uses her telekinetic powers to assert control over Margaret, who ceases her online activism. In despair at losing control over her daughter, Margaret meets Amanda, the mother of an astral projector, who warns her about the existence of super-powered beings known as the "Others." She counsels a conflicted Margaret to kill Carrie. Due to the riot, the school community debates whether to hold the annual prom night. Opponents including Margaret argue that proceeding with the event would reward delinquent behavior and degeneracy. Carrie manages to convince the students and their parents to vote in favor of the prom night by presenting it as an opportunity for healing and restoration. Carrie also gets closer with Tommy, who invites her to prom. Tina, who is eager to have a shot at prom queen with Chris out of school, attempts to persuade Tommy to be her prom king but Tommy rejects her proposal. A vindictive Chris conspires with Billy to sabotage the prom night by rigging the prom queen vote in favor of Carrie and pouring pig's blood on her. Tina, having been coerced by Chris and Billy to get them gain entry to the prom, begins to realize what Chris intends to do when Carrie is crowned and attempts to call her, while Sue discovers Chris's conspiracy on her own and runs to the school to stop it. Both attempts to prevent the prank come too late.

The interviewer is revealed to be Adelaide, who questions Sue, Tina and Margaret about the events of prom night. Carrie is upset by people laughing and filming her in her blood-stained dress, activating her powers and accidentally killing Tommy. Goaded by Emaline, Carrie uses her telekinetic powers to exact revenge; killing many of the party-goers including Grayle and Desjardin, and starting a fire which engulfs the school. Chris, Billy, Tina and Sue escape shortly before Carrie leaves the gym. Carrie's rampage coincides with a skirmish between Amanda and Adelaide's cultists including Cara, whose pyrokinesis starts further fires. Chris and Billy later attempt to run Carrie down but she flips their car. before crushing them both. Liberated, Carrie and Emaline dance through Chamberlain, Carrie unknowingly causing chaos and mass destruction with her powers, before Emaline suddenly disappears. Snapping out of her trance-like state, a horrified Carrie returns home, where Margaret attempts to stab her in the brain per Amanda's advice. A fight ensues, and Carrie manages to stab Margaret with a pair of scissors before telekinetically destroying the house around them, but Margaret uses her own latent telekinesis to survive, levitating the debris. Emaline arrives in person, revealing that she had been shot, and drives away with a traumatized and wounded Carrie in tow. Weeks later, Adelaide tells Margaret whilst interviewing her that Carrie is traveling with Emaline, who is Amanda's daughter and has the ability to astral project. Adelaide then uses her own powers to stop Margaret's heart, killing her, and making it look like a natural death.
