Captain Typho

Gregar Typho was born on Naboo and followed his uncle Quarsh Panaka into the Royal Naboo Security Forces. He trained for protective service and fought during the Trade Federation invasion of Naboo while still a young guardsman. Typho helped defend Theed during the liberation of the planet and suffered severe injuries in the fighting including the loss of his left eye. His performance earned him considerable respect within the Security Forces. After Padmé Amidala completed her term as queen and entered the Galactic Senate Typho became captain of her personal security detail and succeeded Panaka as her principal protector.

Typho’s responsibilities became increasingly dangerous during the Separatist Crisis. When assassins targeted Amidala on Coruscant he relied on decoys and concealed travel arrangements to keep her alive. He supported the plan to send her secretly back to Naboo with Anakin Skywalker while maintaining the illusion that she remained on Coruscant. Once the Clone Wars began Typho continued accompanying Amidala on diplomatic journeys and repeatedly attempted to keep her away from unnecessary danger. His warnings were frequently ignored because Amidala insisted on becoming personally involved when civilians or Republic interests were threatened.

During the war Typho remained responsible for Amidala’s protection rather than becoming a general in the clone army. On Naboo he and his security personnel captured Separatist battle droids while investigating the conspiracy surrounding the Blue Shadow Virus. His work frequently placed him beside Jedi and Republic personnel while keeping his primary loyalty with Naboo and its senator.

Appearance: Captain Typho has medium brown skin and a tall solid athletic build. His visible eye is dark brown while the other is covered by a black leather eyepatch. His short dark hair is mostly concealed beneath a maroon military cap with a broad gold front band and a raised angular insignia.

He wears a dark navy high-collared uniform beneath structured burgundy leather armor. Broad burgundy shoulder panels extend outward in layered points while matching chest panels frame the darker central torso. A wide burgundy belt crosses his waist with a rectangular gold buckle and an additional diagonal strap below it.

Dark navy gloves cover his hands and reinforced navy bracers encase his forearms. Long burgundy coat panels descend from the waist over dark trousers. A black holster at his hip holds a compact blaster with a thick grip and cylindrical upper section.

Personality: Typho is disciplined and cautious with a strong tendency to assume that any situation involving Padmé can become dangerous without warning. He does not enjoy unnecessary risk and will openly object when she attempts to place herself in the middle of a military operation. His caution comes from experience rather than timidity. Typho fought during the liberation of Naboo and understands how quickly security plans can collapse once an enemy gains the initiative. He remains calm under pressure and accepts that protecting someone as independent as Padmé often means adapting after she has already rejected his safest plan.

Padmé is the central responsibility of Typho’s professional life and someone he cares for deeply. He trusts her judgment even when he disagrees with the risks she takes and remains intensely loyal to her throughout the Clone Wars. Quarsh Panaka is his uncle and former mentor whose career inspired Typho to join the Security Forces. Unlike Panaka Typho holds the Jedi in considerable respect and readily accepts their help when Padmé’s safety is involved. He also works closely with her handmaidens and security personnel because deception and coordinated protection are essential parts of keeping the senator alive.

Typho is highly trained in armed combat and protective security. He is an experienced marksman with strong knowledge of defensive planning and threat assessment. His responsibilities require him to coordinate guards and handmaidens while arranging secure transportation and decoys around assassination threats. He is also a skilled pilot and has flown Naboo N-1 starfighters during protective escort missions. The loss of his left eye limits his natural field of vision but has not prevented him from remaining an effective combat officer.

Typho commonly carries a blaster pistol as his primary weapon and wears the formal protective uniform of the Royal Naboo Security Forces. His equipment is comparatively conventional because his greatest advantages come from training and preparation rather than specialized technology. He also has access to Naboo security communications and spacecraft through his position as head of Amidala’s detail.
