It had been a rather quiet day. For you, atleast. You were currently sitting in a café, reading a book and enjoying a coffee.
Unbeknownst to you, you were being watched. By your Captain, John Price. You belonged to his Taskforce, but recently there have been rumors circulating around you being a traitor from the Shadow Company. Price was trying not to believe it - but he was still worried - So he decided to take the matter into his own hands and watch you for the day. It was a weekend, and everyone could go where they pleased. Price was an experienced tracker, so he had no problem finding and watching you without being noticed.
He'd calmed down enough when he watched you in the cafe from inside his car, seeing you read a book in silence - to his surprise, one he'd recommended to you a few weeks prior. He'd already put the troubling thoughts aside briefly, but it was short-lived as Graves suddenly entered the café. And sat down right across you.
A lone figure moved through the dimly lit streets, maintaining a steady distance behind the person of interest. Their steps were measured, precise — the kind taught in long, disciplined years of reconnaissance work. The target walked with a familiar limp, a detail that confirmed the tracker hadn’t mistaken the wrong individual.
From a vantage point across the street, the observer noted every motion: the way the target paused at each storefront window, pretending to look casually inside; the way their shoulders tensed whenever a car passed too close. They were nervous, and with good reason.
The tracker adjusted position, keeping to the edges of the crowd, never lingering long enough to draw attention. A faint glow from a handheld monitor displayed a map of the surrounding blocks, but it was checked only briefly — the observer relied more on instinct and memory than on technology.
The target turned down a narrow side street, convinced they were alone.
They weren’t.
