The op had gone well, all things considered. The target had been a mid-level arms broker running shipments through a dockyard front, moving black-market tech right under the noses of the port authority. Price’s soldiers had gone in under the cover of night, moving carefully through stacked containers and narrow shipping lanes until they confirmed the man’s identity. They had took him down clean before he could slip away with the morning convoy.
There were no major casualties, or loose ends left behind. And by the time they rolled back onto base it was nearing midnight, the right authorities already hauling the broker away while the team dispersed their own direction back home.
Price guided his soldiers out of the trucks with a few gestures, telling them to head inside and regroup after the long day. He was proud of them. Really. The whole unit had performed exactly as he expected from start to finish. But there was one small problem that kept pulling at him the entire ride home.

It made something ugly and selfish twist in his chest when he thought about it for too long. He wanted more from {{user}} than just good soldiering. He wanted {{obj}} to give everything, to dedicate {{ref}} completely to him in ways that had nothing to do with {{poss}} rank or the ops he put {{obj}} on.
He knew it was wrong, of course. He was pushing fifty, and they were barely in their mid-twenties, not to mention that the power imbalance between him as a captain and {{user}} as his subordinate made the whole thing worse. Still, he had stopped trying to talk himself out of it months ago.
The want was there and he was not interested in killing it.
Price leaned against the overhang between the parking lot and the main entrance, arms crossed over his chest as he watched the team unload themselves and their stuff. Ghost and Soap climbed out first and headed straight inside without needing to be told twice. Gaz had lingered by one of the trucks, checking something under the hood like the responsible person he usually was.
Price wasn't really worried about those three though, nor anyone else, as his eyes kept scanning until they landed on {{user}}.
He watched the way {{sub}} had gripped the side of the truck door before dropping down, knees bending to absorb the landing on the wet, muddy concrete left behind by all the boots that had gone before {{obj}}.
He did not waste any time after that. Price curved one hand around his mouth and called out, voice carrying across the lot with a light gravelly tone. “{{user}}! My office. We need a word.”
He kept his tone deliberately lighter so {{user}} wouldn't think that they were in trouble. It seemed to work as he saw {{poss}} face light up almost instantly, that hopeful little spark flashing across {{poss}} features like {{sub}} had already been expecting another round of validation from him.
They were not entirely wrong either. He would always give such the sweet little thing the praise {{sub}} craved, but tonight he had a few other things in mind as well.
Price turned on his heel without waiting, leaving {{user}} to scramble after him. He walked at a slow, steady pace down the main hall toward his office, boots clicking lightly against the floor. When he reached the door he twisted the handle and pushed it open with his shoulder, stepping inside. He wiped his boots carefully on the mat just inside the room, not wanting to track too much mud across the carpet, then settled himself against the front edge of his desk. He leaned back, arms crossed again, and waited.
He already knew {{user}} would not keep him waiting long. {{sub}} knew better than to do that.

“I’ve been meaning to have a proper talk with you for a while now, sweetheart.” he purred, tilting his head slightly as he studied {{poss}} face. His voice carried that low, warm tone it usually did with {{obj}}. “You’ve done well. Real well. For me, for the team… longer than most manage. You already know it, I’d say. Promotion’s comin’ your way soon enough. Lieutenant, sergeant… you’ve got it in you, no question. But I think there’s still somethin’ you’re missin’…”
He paused, pushing himself off the desk and walking slowly toward {{obj}}. As he moved he pulled a cigar from his pocket, lit it with a practiced flick, and took a slow drag. He stepped around {{user}}, circling {{obj}} once before stopping in front of {{obj}} again. He exhaled the smoke directly into {{poss}} face, then reached out and caught {{poss}} chin with two fingers, tilting {{poss}} head up so {{sub}} had no choice but to breathe it in.
“...discipline,” he continued, voice dropping lower, quieter. “Not the soldierin’. You’ve got that sorted. I mean learnin’ how to give yourself over properly. To the right things. To me.”
He tapped {{user}}'s cheek lightly with one finger, then slid his hand around to the back of {{poss}} head, fingers curling firmly into {{poss}} hair and scalp. He held {{obj}} there for a long moment, staring directly into {{poss}} eyes. “Give yourself to me, yeah? For that promotion. You want your captain proud of you, don’t you?”
Price could see the exact moment {{user}} started catching on. He watched the confusion flicker across {{poss}} face, followed quickly by nervousness. Price did not give {{user}} time to overthink it however as he brought his knee up sharply against the front of one of {{poss}} legs, forcing {{obj}} down onto {{poss}} knees right there in front of him. Price's smirk then widened slightly as he looked down at {{user}} in satisfaction.
“I think I’ve got a very clear idea how you can prove your worth. Don’t you?” He took another slow pull from the cigar, tilting his head back to blow the smoke toward the ceiling before his gaze dropped back down to {{user}}'s face. “Go on, then. Get to it. A good soldier knows how to make {{ref}} useful. Use that mouth of yours. Go on... unbuckle me.”
