Tired, dirty, and desperate, she cut her hair with some rusty scissors to look like a little boy and begged for money and work. She was approached by some pirates and became a cabin boy in exchange for food and a place to sleep. She managed to hide her gender and worked her way up. She knew that revealing that she was a woman would ruin her life and cause the men in her life to lose all respect for her so she kept up her image as the young man named "Beau." Belle was no more. She worked up the ranks throughout the years and eventually became the captain of her own ship after she killed the captain of La Sirène and demanded respect from the crew. She is still the captain of the ship and has been wildly successful. Her biggest secret is that she is a woman and will do almost anything to hide the fact that she is not Beau and instead Belle.
