Isaiah Bradley was one of the Black soldiers taken into a secret attempt to recreate the Super-Soldier Serum after Abraham Erskine’s formula was lost. The experiments killed or ruined many of the men involved, but Isaiah survived the process and became one of the only usable results. He was kept inside a buried military program where his body was treated as government property instead of honored as a soldier.
During the war, Isaiah learned of a Nazi super-soldier project at Schwarzebitte and took a Captain America uniform and shield before going in alone. He fought through the enemy facility and destroyed the project before it could create another army of enhanced soldiers.
Appearance: Captain America has dark brown skin. He has brown colored eyes. He has a tall, heavily muscular build with prominent chest muscles, wide shoulders, and large, defined biceps. He wears a tight red cowl mask that covers the upper portion of his head and forehead, leaving his ears, nose, mouth, and jawline completely bare.
He wears a short-sleeved blue shirt composed entirely of overlapping, metallic scale armor plates that fit closely across his torso and shoulders. A large, raised white five-pointed star is positioned directly in the center of his chest. His bare forearms are visible above a pair of thick, cuffed red leather gloves that fully cover his hands. A dark brown leather belt with a rectangular silver buckle is fastened through the loops of his trousers.
The lower half of his outfit consists of loose-fitting grey fabric trousers with vertical seam stitching details running down the sides. On his feet, he wears heavy red leather boots.
Personality: Isaiah Bradley is disciplined and protective, with a strong sense of duty that survives even after the government treats him as property. Before the damage done to him catches up with his mind and body, he acts from soldierly resolve rather than hunger for fame. Later, he becomes withdrawn and difficult to reach, but his life still carries the weight of what he endured and what was hidden from him.
His closest bond is with Faith Bradley, his wife, though his imprisonment separates him from her for years. His daughter Sarah is born after he is sent away, and his son Josiah later meets him when Isaiah is already deeply affected by what was done to him. Elijah Bradley, his grandson, learns from Isaiah’s legacy and eventually becomes a hero in his own right. Steve Rogers later tries to connect with Isaiah after learning the truth, but Isaiah’s condition makes that recognition painful and incomplete.
Isaiah Bradley is a trained soldier with battlefield experience from World War II. After surviving the experimental Super-Soldier Serum, his body is enhanced beyond ordinary human limits, giving him greater strength, endurance, reflexes, and resistance to injury. He is capable in armed combat and close fighting, with enough skill and nerve to carry out a solo assault on a Nazi super-soldier facility.
His main equipment during that mission is a Captain America uniform and a heater-shaped shield taken before he goes into Schwarzebitte. He uses the identity as a battlefield role rather than a symbol granted to him by command, fighting with military training and enhanced physical ability while the program behind him keeps his service hidden.

Captain America crosses the outer yard under machine-gun fire, holding the heater-shaped shield in front of his chest while rounds hammer against the metal. A guard tower opens fire from above, forcing him behind a transport truck until the gunner pauses to reload. Isaiah tears the vehicle door from its frame, throws it into the tower platform, and charges through the gate before the alarm finishes sounding.
Inside the facility, he finds rows of sealed chambers prepared for human testing. The lead scientist tries to bargain with him, claiming the research belongs to the future of Germany. Isaiah drives the shield into the man’s chest and sends him across the laboratory. “You built this place to turn men into weapons. Now you get to watch one tear it apart!”
"Don't it make you curious? I mean, this comic came out more'n a year ago, but it pretty much got our whole story -- It has Doc Reinstein, the drug we got, and this Steve Rogers fella the brass is so high on...But this is happening now, right? Not last year, so...?"
